Here's a couple of questions. I think I finally understand one of your designs, but there are a couple of grey area's I'd like to work out.

First off, is the lower reciever made out of 1 1/4 inch pvc as well?

Second, how did you attach the o rings to the plunger?

Did you use any kind of lube to make sure the plunger would pass through the bolt easy or is it just pure and dry?

How prone to jamming is this thing? From what I can see the bolt being 1 inch pvc is sliding through 1 1/4 inch pvc. How do you keep the sliding nice and clean?

Lastly, how is the spring managed. It sits behind the plunger and pushes it forward. How do you keep the spring from bending and get it to stay in place? Also what kind of spring is that, and where did you get it?

Yes, the lower receiver is made out of 1/1/4" PVC...same as the upper.

There are 2 orings on the plunger. Both the same size. They are 1/1/8" Orings so they must be compressed to get them in the 1" PVC. The orgins are mounted between section of 1/2" coupler....3 1/4" sections...look at the pic. The rear o ring is bonded to the plunger shaft and the forward oring is free between the 2 coupler sections. I wanted to be sure it made a good seal so I used 2 orings....one would probably have been enough. I lubed the plunger and plunger tube with gun oil.......it is a gun...... It moves slightly easier with the lube but it does fine dry as well.

The bolt is 1" 200psi PVC. Thin walled. It is a near perfect fit in 1/1/4" SCH40 PVC. I do not lube the bolt. The action spring is strong enough to overcome any friction of the bolt in the receiver. I have never had a jam where the bolt refused to close.

It is remarkably reliable. I have but about 150 rounds through it since yesterday and only had a couple problems.

One of the shells would fail to eject and stovepipe in the action. This shell had a loose rim which I promptly glued back and that problem went away.

I`ve also had a few FTF's (failure to feed) where the shell would just ram into the feedramp and stop. On both of these occasions the magazine was not fully seated.

I have had NO failures that had anything to do with the design of the action.....yet. After those 150 rounds I disassembled the entire rifle and checked for excessive wear. I found next to none. The metal washer on the plunger acting as a sear face does a beautiful job and the trigger mechanism is holding up great. Iexpected to break the extractor by now but it is still holding up strong....ejector too.

The spring is a rifle length AR15 action spring. I had one laying around doing nothing but you could buy one for less than 10 bucks. The extra power AR springs are $15. The spring is fitted to the plunger with a 1/2" coupler that I bored out to the DIA of the spring. The spring rides in a piece of 1" PVC, which is not a whole lot larger than the spring DIA. The spring does buckle a little bit....but it is negligible compared to the change in length. I actually had a problem with the trigger catch and the spring. Originally the trigger catch protruded about 1/4" into the upper receiver. Occasionally the spring would bind on the plunger catch as the bolt was drawn rearward. This was easy to fix as I just cut the plunger catch down to about 1/8" and I haven`t had that happen since....

Keep in mind the rifle is facing flat on its side and facing up.....that is why the shell doesn`t eject away from the rifle. it is just falling back in the breach. If the rifle were vertical the shell would eject normally. Its also a little jerky because it is hard to fight back the action spring evenly with my thumb and hold the camera at the same time.

I would paint the tip of the barrel orange. If I was more than 100 ft away and saw you running around with that I would think you were carrying an assult rifle. Looks nice though.

Yes, I would go with navy seal, paint the tip of the barrel orange because if the cops see that they'll think its an AKS-74 and pretty much the worse could happen.

P.S: That Is the most sophisticated piece of foam-firing hardware i ever seen, truly amazing boltsniper.

u know i don't know about everybody else but i would really like to see some of the other pictures during the building process. Especially the ones regarding installation of the firing spring, but any that you post are great. Superb gun.

It's and AR15 rifle length buffer spring.

Spring specs:
Free length: 13 in
Compressed length 4.3 in
Diameter: 0.9 in
Stiffness: 13 lb/in


I`m used a dremel for everything. cutting and shaping. I mainly use cutoff wheels, high speed cutters, and sanding drums. I use the sanding drums for rough shaping. Final shaping and finishing was done by hand with sand paper.

How do the screws work? Particularly the ones up top holding your spring cover onto the upper reciever and the one hold the barrel in the gun?

Also, could I please see a picture of the pick crank if you have one?

You mean the real one? Ummm....to shoot. It's a hobby just like any other.

I have about 10 magazine for the AR15. If you were referring to the nerf rifle...I just have the one magazine for now. Might make another.

You cock it by pulling the bolt back. It cocks the lunger as well as cycles another round.


NSF - It took me about a week to get it finished. Working about 3 to 4 hours a day on it or so. The total cost woul be about $20. I had the main spring already but you could get one for less than $10
