NF's are kind of powerful for their size. Meaning that, you can't get a barrel that is long enough but not too long to be unpractical for carrying. So, we stick with 4-5 inches. PETG is what's recommended on our NH Mods section, but most people use brass, because that's what's available to them. If you had a little extra time on your hands, I'd suggest doing THIRST's version (using CPVC), but keep in mind you either have to dremel down your CPVC or stretch your FBR extra. However, the payoff may be worth it - THIRST's CPVC modded guns are normally very good.
Your stefans are definitely NOT overweight. That weight is OK, but people have been gravitating toward a longer dart (think 2.5 inches) and a heavier weight (ompa suggests 1/4" steel(?) shot).
Ranges of the NF are consistently between 55 and 80. You normally never get the extremes, but if you do the mod right, you can get consistent high 60s, or 70s. The key for modding the NF is actually using the air restrictor to your advantage.
I'm assuming you've already read through the NH Mod for the NF.
There is a little orange piece in there that has three little prong things holding it to a halo-type thing. This one of the stock air restrictors, and to make it suit your purpose, epoxy/hot glue up the three openings on the sides, and drill a hole in the middle of the air restrictor, not too big. This makes it so that the air restrictor increases air flow speed instead of restricting it. Voila!
I'd recommended cutting off the laser part ('it's so cool, though!') for holstering ease.
Hope this isn't as confusing as it looks.
Oh, and BTW, NSF is right about the bringing foam along. You have no idea how much important it is to actually try the stuff THERE. A couple feet of useless brass always reminds me of that.

Officially the most useless post ever. Dear sir, you suck. Please do not come by here anymore.fu
On topic, I never thought about using the air restrictor that way. I may try that next time instead of just drilling it out. Mine has a 4 in CPVC barrel thats "telescoped" (opened up about half-way, then closes). It's hard to get it in to the telescoped portion, but it shoots ridiculously well if you manage to get it in there.

Also, what kind of fishing weights are you using? A single bb is really light for a dart, and are usually used with automatic guns or the weaker pistols.
When you buy your FBR, make sure that you buy large amounts of it, and I'm talking about at LEAST 30 feet. The reason is because many times FBR ends up changing size from different batches, and sometimes even within the same batch. You want the same size of FBR so you don't have to replace ALL your barrels if you buy fatter or thinner FBR.
Lastly, try 1/2" SCH80 pvc. It fits my darts rather well, and is really cheap.

i don't agree. one BB-size split shot in a 2 inch stefan performs fine in a 20 pumped LBB, ranges 100+. and they'll kill people within 40 feet from my NF.A single bb is really light for a dart, and are usually used with automatic guns or the weaker pistols.

I'm going to try regular bbs.
That's mainly what I'm going off of, and when using regular bb's, I've always seen guides put 2 bb's, not one. That's why I was assuming the darts would be light, and light darts are used in the guns I mentioned. Sorry for the mixup.
