I was just wondering if anyone here was into martial arts. Any "style".

Im a martial arts nut. I dont think I've found anything I enjoy more. I dont practice a particular system. My teacher in highschool was highly ranked in many of the arts and taught us a little bit of everything. Outside of classes with him I am self trained, such as with weapons (tonfa, bo, nunchaku, bokkuto, sai). I do not see this as a downside really, because I think that if one applies themselves to learning and takes what they are able to come up with on their own they will be a much stronger person, and this applies to more than just the martial arts.

Just wondering if anyone else practiced.

This may seem irrelevant, but my little brother is a super martial art flla. He combines various black arts with arts like akido and bruce lee's fighting form and then uses jujitsu and ninjitsu to mix it up a little. I know he studies Muhaammed Ali's footwork and again, bruce lee whom based his footwork off of Ali's.

I've done tae kwon do and hap ki do for a bit over a decade now. I do ITF style moreso than WTF tae kwon do. The type of hap ki do is the sin moo variety under Grandmaster Ji Han Jae... I have a bit of knowledge of a few other arts, but only a bit.

Had a friend who studied Tae Kwon Do. Never could teach the boy to keep his hands up properly. Relied too much on the fact that he had long legs. :( Sounds like you round it well with the hap ki do tho.

What are the differences stylistically between International and World Federation?

Tae Kwon Do, a little Karate, American kickboxing, american boxing, and I even messed around with kungfu. I also trained in weapons. Spear, Pole, and Nunchak mostly. But i excel in nunchaku. Yeah some poeple, especially in TKD dont understand that when fighting in real-life situations... people will use there hands. They tend to forget that.

I used to learn Gracie Jiu Jitsu (sp) back in high school. It's a Brazilian style that combines a little Tae Kwon Do with groundfighting and submission holds. Pretty fun stuff. I would like to get back into martial arts, but with working two jobs right now, I don't have the time to go to classes. Right now, I'm doing a little self-studying, mainly on weapons-based combat. I know it (martial arts weapons) won't be very useful in real life situations, but I still think it's pretty kickass.

I received My black belt in Shorin Ryu Shidokan Karate at 17. I had to stop going shortly after cause I went away to college. Now that I'm back to NJ school, I was hoping to find time to start up another style again. I'm pursuing either Krav Maga, Juijitsu, or Judo, but the only places near me are Karate and Tai Kwan Do.

Also, I would love to learn Jeet Kun Do, Bruce Lee's Style, but again there are no places around me teaching it.

I studied a little when i was younger, but my dad is a 7th degree black belt in very traditional japanese martial arts ( i can't remember the name). It's nothing fancy like the more modern stuff.

I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, but I realized what crap it really was when i was almost second degree and quit. Now I practice with my Chinese friend a bit, and thats so much better than Tae Kwon Do classes.... I've done a little work with katanas, numchucks and bos, not to say that i'm proficient with any weapon!

But to add something to the topic, I have a friend in Tae Kwan Do. He seems to like it.

I study Aikijutsu. In a couple of weeks going into Muy Thai Kickboxing also.
Ju Jitsu is where is at, most street fights end up on the ground anyway.

I learn all my killer moves from movies, just like Bullet Proof Monk... Mortal Kombat is good too...

I was a second degree blackbelt in Tang soo do at 14 or 15, I forget wich it was a while ago and those days are a haze. I stopped because I started attending Ninjitsu camps ( no I'm not a ninja, they don't exist, just practicioners of the art ) and I was just not having fun their anymore ( I was the youngest and third highest ranking person their under my instructor, so it was getting lame ).

Ninjas are freaking awesome, regardless of their existence. I want to study Ninjitsu (I heard it's like the swiss army knife of martial arts), but I haven't found any schools in my area that teach it.

RealUltimatePower.com and EnterThenNinja.com are horrible sites, please don't bring them into this thread. Don't talk about Ninjas unless you know what you're talking about. Ninja don't exsist. Their may be schools to learn it, but that doesn't mean you're a fucking Ninja or the instructor. Most modern Ninjitsu school are crap and modernised. Those gaurds probably had guns under their jackets, or they were just their to take bullets. Still doesn't mean they were Ninjas, witch they weren't.

"What are the differences stylistically between International and World Federation?"

To answer this question about tae kwon do a bit later in the thread than I would've liked because I've been busy, mostly the differences are in the forms, patterns whatever you desire to call them. The ITF style is more traditional and the WTF considers itself more "modern."

I can talk about Ninjas because I know what I am talking about. I am talking about NINJAS!!!! Ninjas don't exist? What about the story about the guy dropping the spoon and the ninja killing the ENTIRE TOWN? That is solid evidence!

Gawd, its 'humor', you don't have to believe it.

And Zero Talent, that site made me crack up, that is some funny shit.
