That is amazing!! I like how the turret isn't at the very top of the gun.... But I still see a pump, wouldn't it have to be internal to be self pumping? Otherwise people would run around with pumps going in and out of their guns, and using them lethally... sweet. The patent looks kewl, but it says it shoots fluid, when there is clearly a turret. Maybe another switch shot gun?

I can think of other uses for a pump that automatically gose in and out... in and out... in and out....

It states that it starts pumping once the user iniated the pumping process an electronically measures the amount of air in the gun and pumps accordingly. Fluid can be either a liquid or gas and it enables them to get 2-for-1 as far as patents are concerned, so as to enable them to make a fully-auto pulsating squirt gun. I've found many designs and designers including the ultimator,secret shot 2 and many others.

The one problem I see off the bat with ideas like this is the lack of mod potential. The more modernized and electronic a gun gets the harder it will be for us to mess with. One day we will all be hacking our nerf guns. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Ill keep my spring, thanks.

I don't know about that fuse. In fact I think modded and unmodded ranges have increased in nerf guns since nerf moved to pump guns mainly. Just because its electronic doesn't mean we can't only mod specfic parts of it. The nightfinder is electronic and we still mod it. Spring guns are still superior in many respects, likke ease of modding.

The Nite Finder is hardly what I would call electronic. But seriously, there is no way to change the pressure in the tank if the pump is regulated electronically. We could still mod the barrels and such, but there would be no banding of the tank, plugging the valve, etc.

check the patent dates, kids. april 2002. these are not ideas for a new gun, this patent is the birth of the RF20. the electronic pumping mech was left out (probably cos it was unreliable, large, heavy, and loud), and the layout of the gun is different, but the first image in that patent writeup is the nascent WF, and the ancestor of the RF20.

We're aware of that, this is just simply a resource to see if Nerf will draw from any of the other designs on the site, so we MAY know what to expect from Nerf in the future.

Ompa made a great point. Just because it wasn't put into manufaturing in 2002 doesn't mean nerf sdoesn't ahve planms to use it. Just as some information, the turre design was only an exap,ye of where it was applied,for the wildfire just as much similiarties as the rf20 d iowith it.
