Hey guys, new mod today. This was mainly because 1, I wanted a side-primeable Retaliator, and 2, attachments were useless before as they never stayed on when you primed the blaster. This mod fixes both of those problems, and literally took like 10 minutes to do. It will apply to both the recon and the Retaliator. And therefore,I give you the retaliator carbine.

Thar she blows. Please ignore the bad paint job and the poor lighting. I was in my basement and the pictures were taken with a Macbook Air.

Of course, you have to open the blaster first. This blaster has already been modded basically, and it was just sitting in my blaster box, and I wanted to give it a purpose.

Here, you gut the blaster.

This is the charging handle. It is just a wine cork attached to a furniture pad. Warning: I do not have any process pics of this part, so bear with me as I try to explain. The easiest way I found to attach the priming handle was to first pre-drill the screw in,then remove it. I then put the breach assembly back in, and put the screwin through the hole in the breach that used to accept the nub on the slide on the right side. I then attached the charging handle from the outside, and screwed it in from the other side.

So here's the finished product. Like Stefan clips, this is completely reversible. Now here's something I thought you might think of: That handle does not look very sturdy. Well, I've put about 50 shots through it with the stock spring, and have had no problems with it. The best part is, if it does become loose, you can tighten it without opening the blaster.

Well, that's it. Video coming soon. Q's? C's? F's?

Do all those other toy blaster companies really need to exist? Think, people. think.

Do you think the gun will still prime with an aftermarket spring? I know you said it was secure, but cork is not really a "solid" material like PVC if you know what I mean.

I was going to recommend using a more solid material for the priming bar as well. Other than that interesting mod.

I'm not sure how well this mod will work after increasing the spring power, because a cork is not a particularly sturdy material, as stated above. However, having pressure applied solely to one side of the boltsled would not be good for the priming action or the longevity of the blaster. I think that this mod may have some merit if you found a way to link the priming handle to both sides of the boltsled, but I'll avoid it for now.

Funny that you used a wine cork for a priming handle. I did the same thing for a replacement priming handle for my LS. The problem with using those though is that they like to break off easily. I would suggest using a 3/4" wooden dowel or something else that wont bust easily.

I'm flattered I got so many replies on my first real post. Well, I'm already working on a V2, and will probably be buying some 3/4" pvc and some 1/2" cpvc tomorrow. I'm already positive on using a machine bolt in the priming handle.

Another thing you might want to consider in your version 2 is the twisting force that you are exerting on the breech (assuming you have an upgraded spring).

I have never heard of Recon boltsleds snapping, but longshot ones do all the time, especially if you only prime them on one side (Just something to think about).

Ok its 2016 so I don't know how many people are looking at this. Why a cork, iv done this do my retaliator but really different. I had a spare vulcan cocking knob so I attach the handle to the slide its self with a screw, their is some shaving with the plastic but in the end it works really well.

I'm sure this will really help him. Too bad that was two and a half years ago!
