I bought a Longshot with a worn out spring, and it needs to be replaced. I went to the hardware store, but I really had no clue which one was right. I have seen the pictures of people modifying the spring, but no one ever says the name or type. So my question is, What is the exact name/specification of the best spring to use in a Longshot mod?
By best, I mean what will give it decent range without needing additional mods or break the gun?

UPDATE: I Meant Spring.

This is basically a repeat of this thread. There are plenty of writeups stickied for longshots that do mention the spring used.

Bring the spring in with you to compare with the ones in the store.

I have used a Big Bad Bow, Ace #49, and nite finder spring in my longshots with great results. I've heard of the Mcmaster-Carr k18 spring working well too. Just make sure to reinforce the boltsled no matter the spring.

What is the best spring I can put in without having to reinforce it? I do not want to get some insane range, just about stock range basically. The current spring is worn out and I just want to restore it to working order.

Thanks.

Even if you removed the AR, and are just replacing the spring, you should still reinforce. Sometimes if you might prime too hard and it might just snap.

I have a singled longshot that I use a [k25] in, if you want, I could send you the right amount, for a price, for a long shot.

There are many springs to use, but the most common ones are these: 9637K26 or 9637K25. You can buy them online at McMaster.com: http://www.mcmaster.com.

[k26]-very strong spring, usually needs reinforcement. Kind of hard to prime, but not impossible. I always use them in my nite finders and my longshots.

[k25]-pretty strong spring, doesn't need too much reinforcement. Not very hard to prime, so if you are a weak nerfer (no offense), you'll be able to prime it.

NOTE: Each spring comes in a pack of 5, I believe, and comes in an 11' length. You'll need a dremel (Is that how it's written?) with a metal cutting disc and a means of holding it, such as a vice. Just cut it to length and you're done. I hope this helps! :P

There are plenty of writeups where the specific spring is mentioned. There is also a longshot megathread where they are mentioned.

This thread is dumb. Do your own research.
