How many BBs do you put in a CDTD? I don't have fishing weights or slingshot ammo, but I do have a bin of 1500 copper-coated steel 4.5 mm BBs. How many should I use? Somebody else asked a similar question and never got an answer.

Here's a little diagram of what I use to cool my darts now.



The grey is a plastic container, the red is a glass or cup, the dark blue is salt water, and the light blue is crushed ice with salt sprinkled on top of it. The ice from the plastic container cools down the water inside the cup. By keeping the cooling area and the dipping area separate, but in close contact, I can dip the darts and cool them instantly without having to worry about pieces of ice floating up to the top and messing up the dome. It's anything revolutionary but it gets the job done.

I've been experimenting with larger sizes of FBR, mostly just 5/8" Megas. Now that my local hardware store started carrying 3/4" FBR and 1" FBR I was wondering, Do people weight bigger sizes of FBR differently, specifically 3/4" and 1"? Does it depend on the blaster being used?

Yeah I also weight my megas just like my micros, but 3/4" and 1" are damn huge, which makes you wonder if more weight is needed.

Add more weight for larger darts, so tehy will have more momentum. More momentum means more distance. Why do you need more? you may ask: The larger darts result in more drag, due to their increased size. The extra momentum offsets that.

I guess I'm weird; my FBR is too small for my barrels. Will fifteen minutes in the dryer on high heat permanently enlarge it?

I had a quick question about stock micro darts - if I were to trim mine by cutting a few centimeters off the bottom of the foam shaft, would that help with distance/speed?

I don't think so, but you should try it and tell us your results.

I've found when making CaptainSlug-style darts (which work really well- they're much more accurate than my old ones) it helps to squeeze some liquid nails onto a newspaper and then dip the dart heads in that. It tends to give them a much more even, thin coating. Also, I let the glue dry before adding the felt heads, which makes it easier to keep everything centered.

I've found when making CaptainSlug-style darts (which work really well- they're much more accurate than my old ones) it helps to squeeze some liquid nails onto a newspaper and then dip the dart heads in that. It tends to give them a much more even, thin coating. Also, I let the glue dry before adding the felt heads, which makes it easier to keep everything centered.

CaptainSlug now uses hot glue, he gets better results with it than with the liquidnails.

Well, being in New Mexico, you won't have Canadian Tire, where you can get 40/$1. Try a bass Pro Shop, they ought to have them there.

I've got these in the mail right now. Though shipping was more than I thought, it's still a really good deal. I think it ended up being like $12, but you get a case of 650. And they don't have those wing pieces on them.

I've made about 50 nano's, and they seem to work great. I make them the same way you would make CaptainSlug's darts, but with 3/8 inche dots and #4 washers. The felt makes the seal with the barrel and it works great in brass. They fit well in 13/32 brass. As for range, in a one foot blow gun, with little effort, they can his ~40-45 feet; I think that a gun would launch them futher, or if I had a longer pipe. I have never tried anyother way to make then, so I don't know how well the range stands up to other methods.

All of my FBR is 3/8 in. wide. Could I still use them to make micro stefans? It slides into my PEX barrels, and fires pretty well.

Nope, micros are made out of 1/2" FBR. 3/8" is nano material.

These things I made to make my darts more uniform. The best way to make something uniform when cutting is make a templet, so I cut these out of wood and sanded them down. The foam fits into them semi-tightly, and I cut them with a box cutter through the slit. The bigger one is for 1/2 FBR and the smaller is for 3/8 FBR. The small one is set to one inch, the small side and the big one is set to 1 1/2 inch on the small side and 2 inches on the other.



Here are a few samples of how well it cuts the foam. These are straight from the roll, not even straightend(sp).
Thats a 3 inch machinest squar in there, by the way.

I'm sorry about this, but I've searched and scrolled for an hour and have yet to find a thing about this.



What should I cut them with?


I was planning to make blood tears with the top part. At the bottom I will make micro/nano stephans to be used in my laid out (have parts lined up ready for manufacturing) Nite Finder with an added gravity fed pump breech clip.


I won't do the manufacturing until I can get the clip working. So far, with AAA batteries, the clip is fine but I need to test it with actual darts.

Exacto knife. And I would say, yes you can take them, as long as you pay for them.

Thank you Prometheus, I already bought some stock darts off a friend and cut off the sticky part of it. It flies 10" better on average of 20 darts when compared to leaving the sticky part on (I was quite very bored). The blood tears would be rolled in paper or I would coupler the end.

I got scrap tubing cheap! 2 dollars for all of the tubing and of course 2 dollars for each of the deodorant clips...I got to love friends in the ace hardware store with bad cuts.

Update/EDIT: I now have a clipped nitefinder and decent ranges! I haven't officially measured but it is around 30 feet with the long part of the dart and 20 feet with a 1 foot spread with 3 blood tears in a paper cartridge like thing.
