hot a hole into a cardboard box, I didn't think it was weird until I shot my friend and it left a paintball-esque welt. And I use a single 00 buckshot pellet as weight. So sorry about that, I only use them to penetrate cardboard armor now, so if I see someone with cardboard on the field, consider yourself warned...

Well, that's good I guess. I think that cardboard armor kinda defeats the purpose of using foam darts, though. It's not about causing pain. It's more about marksmanship and strategy.

When I make my darts, I use one bb and foam (obviously). I burn the hole with the glue gun, drop in my bb, and proceed to cover the top with a dome of hot glue. After a few seconds when the dome is even, I dunk it in ice water to cool it. The thing is, later the same day when I go to use my darts, the tips just fall off. I have darts two days old that the tips just come off of so easily. I have to take them off because I'm worried that they will fly off when I shoot someone. The tips just peel off so easily. I make a batch of darts, and a few days later, I don't even have half of them left because the tips come off. Can you please help me? I want help before I go and make more faulty darts. Thanks!

I had the same problem Lt. Stefan. For me it was that my glue wasn't hot enough. Investing in a better glue gun could help (it worked for me).

The bb stays with the glue. My gun (my dad's, actually) is a huge, hot, 24 year old monster of a glue gun.

My mini glue gun is low-temp, and I've made hundreds of great Stefans with it.

my darts wobble slightly when I shoot them out of my NF, lowering the range and accuracy. I have removed air restrictors, but haven't gotten to the barrel mod yet. they are made by Capt. Slug's method, with the M-D brand FBR. does anyone have a cause or a solution? thanks. oh yeah and I added 4 rubber bands...

Is it possible that the foam of your darts is not centered on the washer/pad? Or, maybe the foam isn't completely straight. Another possibility may be that the gun is too weak to effectively use your darts.

You probably need to use a longer barrel or shove them further down the barrel you do have.

I've been doing some experimenting around with stefans, and found that craft glue makes a very strong bond if you make darts slug style. The advantage of course it that it doesn't melt the foam and is arguably as strong a bond as hot glue. The disadvantage is that it takes over a day to entirely dry. Ill be doing some "which one is better" type experimenting soon if any one even cares...

Really? I have been using hot glue so far. The hot glue has worked good but sometimes runs over the edge and makes unwanted friction. Liquid Nails FAILED for me. I had LN all over myself and they had a horrible lifespan. I am interested to see how craft glue works. How have mine been holding up for you? Oh and by the way I found out some good Russian Quotes for next MENWAR.

Craft glue is like thicker elmers glue. It's much cheaper than hot glue at 99 cents per bottle. Your darts have been holding up very well, and in the cold attic where I live, have completely shrunk to fit PETG perfectly. I've been making my stefans with #8 washers and googly eyes. They work great, unless fired out of my At2k at a wooden wall, then they shatter like glass.

That would depend on where you get your hot glue. For example, I get mine in 24-stick packs at a dollar store (the diameter is just 1/4" per stick though.)

24 sticks of hot glue would not last as long as a bottle of craft glue for the same price.

Hi guys.

My parents are over-protective, and are worried about me using weighted Stefans. Do they work without the weight?

No. If you want protection make CS darts or plasti-dip them. I will edit in links in a minute.
Edit:Here are the slug stefs.Felt stefans.
Edit 2: Plastidip stefans here.
Edit 3:My dog as taken a liking to the hot glue on my darts. I need to know whether or not hot glue is toxic to dogs, and way to stop her from eating them. Please don't say ethier "pick them up" or "store them" because for some reason I am constantly losing them and my dog finds them when I can't. Can someone help me?

I've got a question, and this is the place to ask it:

I've just made a bunch of darts. I used the hairdryer to get them to the precise size I want them. It's been a couple days, and I've noticed that the darts have shrunken back to their original diameter. I have tried re-heating them with a hairdryer, bet they will either get messed up, or they will soon afterwards return to their original diameter. The darts still work great, but they will fall out if the gun is pointed down for too long. So I ask you, is there some sort of a way to permanently keep my darts at the perfect size, or will they continue shrinking?

Call this dangerous but I make metal tipped stefans. Great range except the washers tend to fall off.

No WAY!!!! (sarcasm), almost all of us put metal in the front of our darts, and using metal washers ins't original. Most of us just have the common sense to put hot glue, or felt tips on top of the metal so we don't kill who we hit. #8 metal washers fit perfectly. Now please someone answer my question.
