And have you made this gun? How can you say it is impossible? 9 volts is twice the original voltage, plus, the gun is also using streamlines which get much better ranges than sonic darts.

http://modworks.blog...-mod-guide.html

So you are saying that the extra .6 volts adds 68ft?

On top of that 9v square cells (~650 amps) would have much less amps than 8.4v of trustfires.

I'm going to go ahead and just call you out on this. You did not get over 100ft using a 9v square cell to power the flywheels. Many people have added a 9v to a barricade and all of them say, ~50ft.

Also streamlines preform horribly with more powerful higher range blasters. They are notorious for getting poor ranges and accuracy.

Unless you are using something or doing something that I missed there is pretty much no way that this happened.

Ahhhhh, here you go again. First, sgnerf's barricade ranges were taken with stock sonic micros, which have less range than streamlines. The streamlines that I use all have a .20g airsoft pellet shoved into the tip, making them much more stable in flight. I must argue that streamlines(even stock ones) get better ranges than any other stock nerf dart, although you are right about the accuracy.
Second, I hope you meant 650 MILLIAMPS, not amps. 650 AMPS is how much amperage a car battery has. Though sg's barricade's batteries have a higher discharge rate than a standard 9v cell, the motors in the barricade pull a very small amount of current, not needing a lot of amperage. Although, sgnerfs batteries would last longer than my 9v cell. I really don't care if you belive me or not. I don't even have the gun anymore.

Why not just post a video of you range testing it? That should shut up any nay-sayers and add further validity.
In an attempt to get people to focus less on statistical values of this mod, how strong was the spring used to push (or pull?) the arm?

I wish I could make a video, in fact I am kicking myself for not making one before I broke the gun. Oh well. Back on topic; the gun used a maverick priming handle spring to pull the dart pusher back into position.

It's disappointing that this thread was revived simply to argue about ranges.
OP stated he measured ranges with toothpicks. Obviously this is not ideal but ranges will be close.
Weighted streamlines are much better than stock ones in higher powered guns, they do not spin out of control nearly as often.
Comparing Sonic shooting barricades to Streamline shooting barricades is like comparing apples to oranges.
A better comparison would be the Rayven, which as sgnerf has shown, are capable of hitting 80-100 feet; the same ranges the OP claims.
This mod is very creative and cool, something that is hard to come by and should be supported on this site.

Darthrambo, if you are going to call someone out over ranges how about you do the mod or similar mod for yourself first? You obviously have no idea what you are talking about, and all you have to say is negative and not constructive to the discussion at all.

So what you are trying to say is that the bb is going to add 60ft? Please, 9v mods have been done many many times before and they all come out to be around 50ft flat.

There is no way that you got those ranges with stock motors and that battery. If anyone doesn't believe me then pop a 9v in a barricade, tape the wheels and use weighted streamlines and see for yourself. I guarantee you will not be getting 100ft ranges.

A better comparison would be the Rayven, which as sgnerf has shown, are capable of hitting 80-100 feet; the same ranges the OP claims.

Yeah, go look at that.
http://www.modworks....d-guide_27.html
The rayven is getting 80-100 feet from "Streamlines to calibrated stefans", but its running on 16.8 volts, no where near 100-120 at 9 volts.

Even at 12 volts its only getting 60-70ft

Darthrambo, if you are going to call someone out over ranges how about you do the mod or similar mod for yourself first? You obviously have no idea what you are talking about, and all you have to say is negative and not constructive to the discussion at all.

I don't have to do this mod to know it doesn't get those ranges. Tons of people have, it is probably the most common mod done to a barricade and every one comes up with around the same numbers which are all around half what this guy is claiming.
For some strange reason I went on a flywheel kick and now own 9 flywheel guns, not including 3 I have got rid of. I have tried out different voltage with all of them and know what they are and are not capable of.

I'm not sure what I could say that would be constructive about someone who is obviously just making ranges up.

In the end I really don't care, I was just giving a heads up to anyone who looked at this thinking they were going to get 100ft out of a barricade with a 9v in it.

I'm done here, if you want to blindly believe the guy go ahead, but if you ever get a barricade throw a 9 volt in there and see for yourself.

I'm sorry, but you are really pissing me off and I am not even the OP. Please shut up. It has been made more than clear that you don't think this mod is accurate, and there is no point in repeatedly shoving it in everyone's face. You may be trying to sound smarter by repeatedly slamming the OP, but the fact that you won't let go is starting to make you look like a douche-nozzle. Even if his ranges are BS, it is a great mod and I think people should focus more on that.

If his ranges are BS what do you think the odds are of that mass of plastic and hot-glue actually functioning?

Since it seems this thread is alive again, here goes. All ranges were tested level with the ground, which was also relativly level. The furthest shooting dart went 118ft. It might be worthwhile to mention that I measured the distance with toothpicks. Is that sketchy enough for you?

Here are a few extra photos that I managed to scrap out of an old SD card. The quality isn't great, but the're all I have. I dropped the gun down the stairs at a war....by by gun :sob:

That is all I have.

Yes, its an awesome mod and wayyyyyyyy more advanced than the plans I had for my Barricade, but somewhere around 70 ft is what I got with a Barricade with stock flywheels and 18v of power. Maybe I'm missing something, I'll go back and read the writup again. But whether the gun gets 30ft or 200ft, its still an awesome mod that takes skills and hard work. Well done!

btw: Thats awesome that you measured in toothpicks :D must've taken you forever, but at least we know its accurate!

ENOUGH. ENOUGH. ENOUGH. I am now very annoyed. It is one thing to say that the ranges are wrong, but to say that the gun dosn't work at all is going too far. I am going to fix the gun. It may take five sticks of hot glue but I don't care. Come back tomorrow and I will have a range and function video up.

Here is the range video.

The full auto is impressive but those shots are angled and why did you cut the vid before you measured?

Either way, doesn't matter. Great full auto mod.

Ok, I really hate to be negative I'm calling BS here.

In the end I really don't care.....I'm done here....

.......[more words]......

For a guy who doesn't like to be negative and really doesn't care, you sure do instigate a lot of pointless arguments around here. Take a couple of days off.

While I think there are some pretty obvious flaws in that video as far as proving hamoidar's original claims, you have lost your right to enumerate them.

That's firing around magstrike speed! Strap a drum on that thing and it's an amazing rushing weapon!

I had to get more extention cord for the camera, as you can see in the latter part of the video. I did't think about getting enough to go all the way at first. As for it being angled; you try to hold a card-board box over a camera, and the cord for the camera, then shoot straight. In the rain. In the cold. Anyways, only the last few shots were really angled, as they don't exactly matter. The fist couple were only angled a few degrees, not enough to make a huge difference. On a nice day, with fresh batteries, it could shoot even further. But, enough with claims abought how good my gun is, range dosn't matter very much in hvz.

This is a fantastic, creative mod. A few weeks ago I used an old Stampede gearbox and bolt as the dart pusher, and glued on the Barricade flywheel mechanism and got similar results. In all, I love to see modifications like this. Keep it up! :)

There is no such thing as overkill. There is only cost efficiency.

I'd of thought you could fit the full auto mech seeing as you removed the battery pack. Thanks for the inspiration, Going to try to do this with some sort of cam instead... And try to keep it clean too.
