Rounds ran near continuously and very smoothly with lots of variety. Thanks especially to Langley and VACC for running rounds.

40+ carpe rounds are awesome

That was a great war. I was a little out-classed in Team Deathmatch because my only gun this war was my 'Zerker, but come objective I had a lot of fun. I'm still sore the next day  I wish we had these more often.

I still cant make it up stairs unassisted. That was truly an awesome war.

Highlights:
-Meeting Ryan, Zorn, Kane, Langley, Buffdaddy, Beaver, and many others.
-The objective rounds were incredible, I got a hit with about every other dart
-Getting to use my Tbow throughout the day, thanks Jlego!
-Having a steady supply of slugs
-Seeing team Canada again, and getting to press Talos a few times
-Lassoing Faddle with a bolo dart, thanks Buff!
-Shooting 12 year olds all day
-Miraculously making it home in about 2 hours as opposed to the usual four or six hours.
-Oh and not having Ice run rounds with horrible teams like last year.

And all though Talio has said any war should have lowlights, there were several that didn't even take away from the awesome day:
-Running into a low tree branch
-Not seeing Talio or Crooked
-Xbow sucked, and my 2k was out of action unfortunately
-That fucker with the hydro-cannon and slingshot darts
-Way to many walkers that interrupted the game-play

Hard to type this, arms hurt from pumping my 4k.
Pros:
-My 4k did well against the rainbowpumps and pacbows. Especially for it being it's first war.
-4 Team death match was awesome (if you were on the orange team with Skitzo)"Skitzo is our leader, we do what he says"
-None of my primaries were taken out of commission.
-Met lots of great nerfers.
-Objectives were a nice change from the usual DM's.
-Little kids with longstrikes are fun to shoot with blasters that get 3 times their range.
-Canadian slug darts made my day

Cons:
-Hydro cannon kid
-DM teams could have been better in some rounds
-Didn't get to try Defend the Core
-Little kids were annoying
-Some of the DM's were a little to spread out but most were fine.

All in all, a great war.
Thanks!

Everything was extra nice. The LGLF Hydration Tent was a success, and props to errybody who was able to make it out... Unless it was unanimously decided that you were kinda boygay.

Hot damn, did anyone else think Famine was noticably more attractive this year?

This was my first war, and it was a good time. A couple of positives:
- Running through the forest during the first full roster deathmatch was awesome
- My plusbow proved to be a pain at times, but it performed admirably
- Met some nerfers
- Objective was awesome
And the negatives...
- I wasn't in the best running condition because I was still recovering from a knee injury, so that slowed me down a bit.
- I should have bought more moneyz
- I should have also made way more darts
- Goddamn stampedes.

I had a really great time. I thought VACC did a wonderful job of keeping games organized and enforcing rules while still remaining very friendly. Thanks for organizing!

+ Met lots of people
+ Shot lots of people
+ Got shot by really cool blasters

- Wind
- PA roads

I want to thank you again VACC for putting together this war for this year, and a special thanks to all those who make the objective games possible because they where alot of fun!

Negatives: (get the bad out of the way first haha)
- SLUGS, not a big fan haha
- My 2k broke the first round that I played and after about the 4th shot haha.
- When my guest told me that my sm1.5k was leaking fairly bad.
- I had to use my friends gun and I broke the handle off....
- WIND
- As the day went on there was a little more down time between each round because of the different lengths of the gametypes

Plus's:
+ Was very happy to meet up with a bunch of nerfers that I have nerfed with before so that was alot of fun to play with them again!
+ Super excited to meet plenty of new nerfers, and some people that I have talked to on NerfChat, but never met until here.
+ Like the big group of people and the vast variety of guns and homeade's.
+ Got a bunch of hits on people!
+ Was able to represent the Pittsburgh clan during the clan match, which was awesome!
+ Had plenty of rounds yet relaxed enough to sit and catch my breath and relax.
+ Actually left a war with a little less then I came with (for once haha) and more money!
+ Brought about 700 darts for 3 people and ended up having plenty left over! Glad I didnt run out!
+++++++

Overall:
1. Would I do this again? Absolutely! I really did not have any problems with the actual workings of the war, it was more my own fault and nature haha (dang wind!)
2. Would I recommend this to a friend? 100% yes! For sure, I had a guest come with me and this was his first war and he said that he really enjoyed it!

Again, thanks for everybody that made this possible, I had loads of fun as did my clan and we will most definitively be making it back next year!

Awesome war overall. APOC 2011 was by far my best Nerfing experience so far.
Objective rounds made the war in my opinion because Deathmatch definetly gets boring after awhile.

Pros:
+My Nitefinder working flawlessly for the entire war.
+Shooting Lucian over, and over, and over again.
+Objective rounds.
+Buying a Scatterblast
+Had plenty of darts.
+VACC and Langley keeping things moving along.
+Pegging Angel 3 times in a row off the respawn with my Nitefinder.
+Awesome Objective run with Diamondback.
+Buying a SM1.5K
+Shooting Diamondback with his own creation.

Cons:
-Mobstacles didn't stand much of a chance against wind.
-Hydro Cannon/Slingshot Dart Kid.
-No Gunslinger Heaven for me.
-30 Minute McDonalds Service.

Otherwise an overall fantastic war.

Pros and cons, in order of appearance:
-NJ roads
+NJ roads not being as bad last year (hint: drive more aggressively, avoid toll roads)
+Not getting stopped by the police due to reports of paintballers
+Seeing Sublimedom show off that blaster.
+++First round
---Resurrection forest round (I don't mind full roster games, but hate that location)
++++++Finding out Crankymonky is still alive/nerfing (DC/MD war please?)
+Doing surprisingly well in 1st gunlinger round, mostly due to strategy
-Getting out early in the sequel round
+14v7 Deathmatch in Undiscovered Country
++++++OMC's powerslide during aforementioned Deathmatch round
+Clan round
-Catching my arm on a thorny vine during a full sprint
++Shiva
∞+ Highway round
∞+ Irwin round

Zorn, thanks for posting this thread, as god knows when my lazy ass would have gotten around to it.

Thanks to EVERYONE who made it out, was very cooperative, and, most importantly, constantly ready to nerf.

Special thanks to everyone who was able to make it from a great distance: Chicagoans, Canadians, Pittsburgians and everyone I've just forgotten. Without you guys this war loses a lot of its excitement.

Finally, the biggest thanks eva to Ryan and Kane for continuously running high octane Carpe Testiculum rounds without ever turning anyone away (where the fuck did you get the energy), and the man without whom this would not have worked, my cohost, Langley. This ended up being his war as much as mine or anyone's, and he never complained about it. Anyone who thanked me after the war, I really do appreciate it, but share that thanks with him next time you see him. Thanks Phil.

Usually I'd give pros and cons, but all the cons were basically byproducts of it being Apoc. It worked, thank god, and that's all the pro I need. We had at the very least 72 people there (though I stopped counting after the second round), and with that in mind I thought it ran pretty smoothly. There was always a round going on (usually 2 or 3), and the only time it slowed down was at the end when both Langley and I were dragging ass from our perpetual motion schedule. Any time we weren't nerfing we were either discussing the next set of rounds, or walking around and making sure everyone was getting to play the rounds that they wanted to. Could it be tightened up further, certainly, but that will probably come down to choosing a few more Deal Test Site Spirit Guides (Someone trademark that for me. In my depleted state it seems unreasonably brilliant) to run rounds.

All in all, I'm glad I hosted Apoc once, and I hope everyone enjoyed it. If I run it next year I'll know more, and it'll be a better war. If I don't, I'll pass on what I know to whoever does.

Nerf On or Fuck Off,

VACC

PS - Ice, sarcasm does not come accross in text. If that was your intent, I'd prefer you make it clear. I've no patience for entirely unconstructive and absolutely useless complaints without any sort of feedback. This is me as the picture of restraint. It won't last.

Deal Test Site Spirit Guides

I think you might be spending a little too much time in the sweat lodge.

If I run it next year I'll know more, and it'll be a better war. If I don't, I'll pass on what I know to whoever does.

Dibs!

Thanks Vacc, for getting on top of this early on, and hammering away at it for months. In spite of all of the challenges you face hosting any war with 70+ nerfers, and all of the extra bullshit that was lumped on for this one in particular, Vacc was undeterred and threw himself wholeheartedly, enthusiastically, (perhaps belligerently?) into making this Apoc the best thus far. I doubt anyone else could've pulled it off.

Thanks to everyone who ran a round, traveled in from out of town, or helped us schlep all our gear all over the park. It would be near impossible for me to thank everyone who helped out and made things run smoothly, there were so many who chipped in. But I have to mention the horsemen, the chicago guys, and my compatriots in the LGLF, all of whom really pulled together. Also a big thanks to the Sex Dwarves and the Canadians for driving in, it's always great to see you, and the war was better for it.

Also, a final bit of important business:
If you misplaced a blaster at Apoc, please PM me a description of it and your contact info. We have one or two items in the lost-and-found that we would like to return.

Video of the last Carpe Testiculum round of the day

Video of an earlier Deathmatch

I also have some other random videos that I'll post eventually. Feel free to use whatever I post in any video mash-up you make.

Absolutely number one highlight:

+ Meeting people. Too many to list here, but you know who you are!

Other top highlights:
+ VACC, Langly, Ryan and Kane breaking everyone's balls in order to run a smooth war
+ LGLF gatorade and water coolers. Much obliged!
+ Slugs
+/- New Jersey is fuckin weird
+ The weather held out all day, and we didn't get kicked out of the park
+ Ryan and Kane supplied me with top-notch equipment. It was a relief not to have to bring nerf guns through airport security.
+ Buying a bottomless barrel of darts from redshot. I burned through about a thousand darts over the course of the day. Said darts also shot straight (a rare feature!)
+ OMC's dog
- Getting sunburnt all to hell. My own damn fault, of course.
+ Eating Philly cheesesteaks with Koree after the war
+ The Clan Deathmatch was fun, though it dragged on waaaayyy to long. Sudden death couldn't have come sooner. And Clan Rainbow was the best, of course.
+ Not getting poison ivy rashes. I was fucking terrified of the woods.
- No Talio
+/- Hobbling around the airport the day after. Feeling like shit the day after means you had a good war.

Big team deathmatch

Cons first:
- like a lot of people, slugs, but whatever.
- Not being able to hit anyone to save my life during a few rounds, but whatever.
- Somehow VACC didn't see the AT4Play, even though I spent the whole round with him, haha.
∞- Missing MechaShiva

Overall not much worth griping about. Anything major is, like VACC said, a product of APOC (Little kids with stock longshits 10' away from my crossbow...)

Neutral:
= Killing a crave case with PrincexBuster

Pros:
Hanging out with all the Important Nerfers (the ones who like to have fun), like Split, Sooth, the LGLF, etc, was the best part of the day for me.

+ 4 of us making it after almost having to cancel the plans like 3 times.
+ Driving like a pro in Jersey.
+ Staying in a part of Jersey where left turns exist.
+ Good amount of play, I was never bored and waiting for a round, and actually sat a couple out.
+ The Super Soaker kid listening to VACC shred him.
+ Super strategy during the full roster round.
+ No blaster failures, just broken speedloaders.
+ U2 darts shooting stupid far.
+ Chatting with Dumpster.
+ Showing off the AT4Play
+ All the double-takes caused by aforementioned blaster
+ Friends helping out to fill our roster for the Clan round, and being the survivors of the team. A huge thanks to RedShot, Split, and Soothsayer.
+ 3 practically called shots during the Clan round
+ Chops throwing that shopping cart.
+ Using all 4 blasters I brought for the day.
+ Darts lasting almost all day, thankfully supplemented by dart sweeping.
+ My crossbow hitting 226fps right after split was saying not many springers break 200.

∞+ Not losing another Sex Dwarf shirt
∞+ Highway round
∞+ Irwin round
∞+ The most off the hook ride home yet.

A huge thanks to everyone who made this possible.

Also, another big thanks to whoever found my leatherman when I dropped it during the Langley Deathmatch round. I really owe you one.

I'm probably forgetting a half dozen other things.

Thanks to everyone who came out this year, I had a blast. Met a lot of new people, and saw a lot of old faces. I'd like to especially thank Vacc for hosting this and helping us whenever we needed it. I'd also like to thank Langley for also helping run the war/hosting us, and of course Jax, for letting us crash at his place, <3<3<3.

Highlights:
+Meeting lots of people
+Seeing lots of people I knew
+All the blasters I brought worked flawlessly
+Objective rounds were a big success, I hope they catch on
+Intense rounds left me winded several times
+LGLF + Chicago = super party time
+Weather was nice, but the wind sucked. We need stakes even if it's possible people get stabbed by them.
+Running trains with other people using blasters I've made
+Prince Edward
+Beaver flying up from Puerto Rico and running trains
+Team Chicago!
+Deeeeeeeeean
-Deathmatch. You guys really need better/smaller boundaries, it would make things go a lot faster.
-Bringing our mobstacles. I'm glad we had them, but we had to carry everything pretty far from the car to the field. Somebody, please please make a bunch.
+People who helped Kane and I take down/put up mobstacles and equipment. Thank you very very much, it's a giant pain in the ass.
-Not doing DTC. Didn't really have cores, which was our fault, but the Carpe rounds were great anyway.
-Driving about 30 hours in one weekend.
-New darts randomly stopped working well halfway through the day, luckily Beaver lent me some slugs

Overall, awesome time, and would definitely do it again.

What better way to fully re-submerge myself in Nerf than what I'm sure was one of the best Apocs yet. When deciding between Apoc '011 and Busty Girls, I'm glad that the Sex Dwarves chose a new calendar system. It was great to see everyone again and meet a few of the new faces. I'd like to have met a few more of the newer members, but unfortunately any attempts to do so were met with blank stares and the inability to properly introduce oneself. One highlight of my day was how reliably my guns broke, in much the same way they have for the past 8 years. Having my SNAP break after two shots was definitely worth the laugh.

For those of you who are "new" to nerf, let me assure you that you were nerfing with a legend. Skin tight under armor, chest hair that'll make you reconsider your testosterone levels, a Pump Action Shotgun that Ice9 can't prime. These are merely a few things that make me a god among men. But enough about me, let's get back to the war.

I really enjoyed the carpe rounds and hope to do some at future DCNOs. The dart restrictions and prevalence of hoppers has given me a few ideas on possible structured game types that I also hope to try.

Trash talk that makes people surrender, striking good looks, a DiscusFinder with ranges well beyond those of a +bow are a few other reasons Crankymonky's immortality has been solidified.

My first carpe round was one that would lead to my demise. After defeating the Chicagoan filled team with a shut out, they were left humiliated. Even with Jlego's assistance, Chicago lacked the endurance, speed, and tactical mind needed to compete. It was then that they decided they could not lose in such a manner in the clan round. Thinking back to the Stant's 1994 attack on US Gold Medalist Nancy Kerrigan, Chicago realized what they had to do.

A true Saving Private Ryan moment during the clan round. Sprinting towards a dwarf in pursuit, Crankymonky darts from the grove in chase. Meanwhile, Jlego sees a Canadian to his right and begins to run and gun. When both are at speeds that would outrun darts, they collide. Crankymonky, flipping in a barrel roll motion, loses his footing and crashes into the ground. The impact sent his weapons flying and left him unable to stand. Langley and Gears keep the enemies at bay while the rest of the LGLF check on Crankymonky. As his team gathers around him, he yells, "Keep fighting! Don't let them get you!"

However, all was forgiven when the LGLF and Chicago joined forces to have the greatest after party known to the NIC. I unfortunately am not at liberty to discuss the events, but Ice9 has given the NIC a peak into the debauched lives of these great nerfers.

K10, the challenge is here. I expect you to attempt to rebut, but have no delusions of success on your part. Do you think you can do a war recap in full sentences?

This was my first time attending APOC and it didn't disappoint! There were enough rounds to participate in and a lot of faces that I could finally attach to their usernames. A big thanks to Vacc, Langley, Ryan, Kane for running, supplying, and organizing!

Pros:
-------------------------------------
+ Meeting a lot of NIC members (new and familiar)
+ My blasters survived intact
+ Quick and easy drive down to NJ
+ Not a lot of downtime between rounds
+ Very organized with a lot of help

Cons:
--------------------------------------
- Too much wind!
- Driving back home in the rain
- Didn't get to hop into a gunslinger round!

I'm indifferent about the actual war, but I had a great time this weekend.

Pros:
Reaching out to new nerfers
playing some fun as shit board game I've never heard of
my boys hooking me up with some darts (forget all of ours in front of my house :c )
Headin' back to my hotel and chillin' to the max with some sex dwarves and split
seeing my old buds, mainly sex dwarves, split, and the canadians

Cons:
Everyone is perfectly aware of the only 2 things I was really considering a "con"
realizing how I need to find my fuckin' passport and go teabagrock out at all of canada's upcoming wars.

as a side not to canadians: I'm at this moment tearing my house apart for my passport. If I can't find it I'll have to cancel my old one, and get a new one, which will more or less guarantee no Hell5. I might be able to swing a temporary passport, but I dunno. I'll keep mike posted.

Sooth, I think the game you played was called "Feudal" Courtesy of my Friend Rene, and we were happy to give you guys some darts, we had WAY to many this year. As For my Major Pro of this year, It was definitely seeing so many differing homemade blasters, instead of "attack of the 4B's" like last year felt like.

Apoc was quite possibly the best time I've had this year with my pants on. Rounds were well organized, the LGLF hydration tents were filled with a bunch of bawses, and with the exception of shitty dart/barrel on my pumpbow, all my blasters performed admirably. The two best moments in the day had to be when VACC ripped slingshot dart kid a new asshole, and when I first laid eyes upon the AT4Play. A huge thanks again to VACC and Langley for taking the reins and organizing a great war, and I hope the trend of good wars keeps on going.

Who's everyone? I, the person who made the rules and ran the war, have no idea what you were considering a con. If I don't know, there's no chance it will be remedied. Constructive criticism is the only real reason that cons even exist in these threads. Otherwise we'd just call them complaints.
