Walmart has them for 13 dollars by me, if you are interested... I might be able to get one to trade it, but I'll have to see how my funds are in March (yeah, that's a few days away, but anything could happen).

Sounds great. On another note, any updates about t-shirts?

P.S. Post #100 in this thread.

Well, the design that I had made used 4 colors, and the place I was going to have do them said they could only do 3 max. I think I might be able to work around it, and still get some cool looking shirts made.

Test have come in very uniform and conclusive: between my new foam (from home depot) and my old foam that I used last war (also from home depot, just several months earlier) there is uniformly a 5ft-10ft drop in range with the new foam whether used as Slugs or Domes, or fired Singled or Hopper'd. Slugs uniformly drop the range about 30ft-50ft. So, using my old foam, hot glue domes, and a singled barrel, I'm hitting about 130ft-150ft. When using the newer foam, made as Slugs, out of an 8inch clip hopper or so, I'm uniformly hitting about 70ft-90ft.

What blaster are you using for these tests? Have the weather conditions changed since you last tested? Slugs don't drop that much range. More than likely, the foam just has a terrible barrel fit or your heads were hanging off of the sides of the darts. Using my snapbow mk.5, slugs consistently hit 110-120ft flat with a 10 dart hopper and a 15 inch tight barrel. I made a hopper full of 1/4 inch slingshot domes just for this, and with the same set-up, they only fly 10-15 more, but they curved to the left slightly while my slugs flew straight.

Same here. I'll be there in spirit.

Remember - don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes. (Given Nerfy ranges, that's pretty much a given.)

I would hope you don't take offense to this, but quite simply: You failed at making slugs. Slugs fly 120' or so out of range whore blasters; the occasional stupidly-overpowered airgun can throw one 130' give or take.

That being said, the discussion about the evils of slugs has been had here and doesn't need to be reiterated. I'm not requesting that folks abide by the rules; rather, if they don't, they don't play. This is going to be a spectacular event and I don't want anyone to miss out.

Keep in mind that these ranges were eyeball'd (I had previously tape measured from my driveway to points on my street, and I have a pretty good idea of distance) so some accuracy of results is lost there. Also, my street is on a minor incline, so ranges should be a bit better on perfect flat. Furthermore, the new foam isn't all that great compared to what I was using at the last war I went to. I will eagerly wait upon sampling a slug or two of the community bin for making comparisons with my own, this should give some data to compare to for future reference.

At any rate, I take no offense as I'm still learning the basics about slugs and still testing barrels lengths/dart fits/foam brands/etc and I certainly have some work to do yet. As to the so called "evils" of slugs, as far as I'm concerned, as long as I can hit ~100ft with a mid-sized hopper I'm content; this is Nerf after all, not airsoft/paintball/retarded-fanboy-FPS-game. The results I posted were not intended to be in the negative; rather, just more data to go on. I'd be happy to hear anyone else's range data for their slugs and/or other darts and the effects of using various types/brands of foam.

Again, i take no offense, I have no problem with Slugs, and my data posted was merely data, not a rant or protest of slugs.

Oh, and I had fun safely shooting my 7yr old brother with them; I couldn't do that with domes LOL.

That wouldn't happen to be a SS SM500, would it? I'm looking for one out of box...

No, you still need to make as many mobstacles. We're only taking 1 car, which might reduce the # of mobstacles we can take. Also, this war looks like it's going to be HUGE. I doubt we will manage to have more cover than we want.

Alrighty. And yeah, it does look like this war is going to be HUGE. But, we don't really want everyone just sitting behind mobstacles. We want some activity going on.

We still will need alot of mobstacles, there is a great deal of open space that needs cover.

Broken don't worry I will bring my buckets of balls, unless someone closer is bringing theirs.

I know you said locals but I can bring those things as well. Obviously I rather have somebody who lives closer bring that stuff, but if no one is volunteering, we can help out.

Hotel is confirmed, looks like we're going. See you bitches out there.

We're staying at the Doubletree near Cincinnati airport. A bit out of the way, but only $58 a night!

I also have orange soccer cones I can bring that are helpful to use for designating objectives and respawns. I'm also hoping to have a few loaner blasters available for people to try out and possibly purchase if they really like them. No promises though, since we already have enough on our plate with only 15 days until we have to leave.

Like Kane said, the more mobstacles the better. I have never seen an outdoor war with "too much cover", especially for a large event like this. That being said, if anyone would like to set up their mobstacles or help set up ours, we will try to be on the field a half hour before the war to set stuff up.
