Has anyone been in contact with Crankymonkey?

Not sure who you are referring to, but I am known to talk to a Crankymonky.

Put me down as a maybe for the moment. I'll be more certain of whether I can attend closer to the war.

Also, we should make an email list for war announcements. It'd help a lot with making an approximate head count.

I was thinking about starting up a forum for nerfing around the DMV, maybe running it in conjunction with the nerf clubs at UMD and William & Mary. I heard Towson University also has a nerf club. I'd have to get in contact with some folks from those schools first.

If you do, I'd be very interested. I hope 2011 is a good nerfing season for the DMV area.

dizzy, I would be very interested in something to help organize local wars. Get in touch with Langley. He should be able to help with web hosting. I can help a bit with the UMD end of things.

I'd definitely like to reiterate my support for some sort of email list for announcements, as posting something online generally isn't enough. We need to remind people, and I'm sure many would want the reminder.

Welcome back Cranky!

Also, as for this email list/ mini forum thing, I would totally be down.

I would also totally dig an email reminder/alert. I don't always check NH regularly, so that would help me catch wars I might miss.

Barring something important happening on that day, I should be there. Give me reason to dust off my hot glue gun and make more darts. :D

I'll move you to the "maybe" list until you have something worked out.

Nah, I'll be at Beltway Bedlam for sure. There's always the Penn State invitational in April.

Updated for info. Meet in the Shorefield area (with the train ride and the huge playground). If we get there early enough we might be able to get in a couple rounds on the playground but don't hold your breath.

Is it a stock dart war?
I'm kind of new to wars, so count me in as a maybe.
EDIT:Count me in as a yes.

You can use whatever darts you want as long as they are safe. As I recall, past wars had a mix of stock darts, slugs, and other stefans.

So does that mean I could use a 2 BB stefan?
Sorry like I said I'm still kind of new to this.

Yes.

I'm not going to regulate dart weights or anything like that because it wasn't a problem at M3 or M3E last year. Just don't show up with tack-head darts or anything like that.

Isn't this the exact same part as last time? There's a Chipotle near there for after-war-eating. :D I'll be there unless some super important comes up. Lets hope it isn't as wet as last time.

Right now we're looking at about 8-10. Which is good, because that's about how many we had for M3 last year.

Some info about the park for those of you unfamiliar with the area:

Wheaton Park is one of the biggest parks in the region. It's split up into different areas. We're nerfing in the Shorefield area, which is where the picnickers come out in full force during the summer. Hopefully we'll be able to get our war in before the crowds get too big. We didn't have any problems at all with that last year.

There are plenty of places for food nearby, and it's very Metro accessible (walking distance from the Glenmont station at the east end of the Red line).

When I talk about the big ass playground, it truly is the biggest playground I have ever seen. It's absolutely massive. It's like an outdoors version of Discovery Zone, for those of you old enough to remember DZ. While I don't see us being able to use the whole thing for a good part of the day, we might be able to get a round or two in before the crowds show up early on.

Can you give me an estimate time of when it will finish, because I will probably be a little late. So I don't want to come and only have an hour left.
EDIT: Plans have changed, so I will be there on time.

As much as I'd like to do this, I just don't have the time this semester. It's very doubtful I'll be able to attend. Sorry everyone.

Forecast for the day is mid-50s, partly cloudy. Perfect weather for a nerf war.

We're going to try a couple rounds of Capture the Flag - something I don't think we've really done in any of the DMV wars I've attended.
