Date:
-March 12, 2011

Location:
-Wheaton Park, Wheaton, MD (Google it!) More info about table reservation if/when I can get one.
-We will be meeting in the Shorefield area. That's the part of the park with the train ride and the huge Effeminate playground.

Time:
-10 AM til whenever we feel like ending

Rules:
-No JOBARs, No Cobras, no singled Titans, no singled SM5Ks, no singled plugged-pump airguns designed to shoot anything larger than a Mega dart. (If you are unsure about whether your blaster fits this description, bring a back-up just in case.)
-No exposed metal barrels
-No blasters painted flat black
-No dressing up in camouflage
-Bring a pistol or two. We will be having pistol-based rounds.
-Bring some other weird crazy fun blasters. Ball guns, proprietary missiles/arrows, whatever.

Shields:
-Manta Rays and Laser Fang wings only.

Melee:
-Melee hits count as barrel "taps". If your melee weapon gets shot it counts as a blaster hit.

Lunch:
-Pack one. There's also places to eat nearby (Popeyes, Papa John's Pizza, some other stuff).

Match Types:
-Deathmatch (3-15, 5-20, etc.)
-Not Deathmatch (will figure out what once I get a better idea of who will be attending)

I'd be interested. This is not a stock dart war, correct?

It can be if people are clamoring for it to be stock darts, but I wasn't planning for it to be stock darts only.

Ohh man, this is just what I needed. I would be down for any of those dates I think. I would also be able to round up probably myself and three or four others to come.

Woot! A war in DC! However, since I might have insane cousins coming, count me as a maybe.

I would totally be up for this, however, it is way too far away for me to have any opinion on the dates.

Theoretically I can do any of the mentioned dates, but March 19th should work best.

You expect me to know my schedule this far in advanced! Of course I'll be there. Have you gotten a price quote to rent out one of the various arenas? I thought it was quite a bit more.

I don't mean to post-jack, or anything, but....
Since we have gotten so many people who are clearly active nerfers in the MD/VA/DC area reply to this post, I propose that we start a group of people/wars similar to BAFF, where we have monthly/bi-weekly wars. The purpose of the BAFF wars was to bring wars to an area that didn't have many wars, but had many nerfers. However, we would need to have at least ~5-7 confirmed people (people that want to do this, and CAN do this) before we could actually START.

Just an idea

I was thinking of starting one but I'm hella busy and wouldn't be able to make wars more than maybe about once a month or so.

I would love it if that would happen. I can't host wars though, because it is sort of hard to host a war at the age of 13. We got a bunch of DC nerfers, but like dizzy said, a lot of them don't feel like hosting wars and/or are too busy to attend regulary.

If someone else set up the wars and it was Metro accessible, I could potentially do one every two weeks or so. Feel free to start this up if you can, Chaos.

I've had zero free time for most of this year for many reasons.

There are a few options for venue.

If you're even considering Sterling as an option there are usable parks for this kind of thing roughly in that area.
Bruin Park (Where I held SuperNova), Trailside Park or Cutter Mill Park (both kind of small though). Most of the smaller parks that are not simply complexes full of baseball fields work pretty well. They have little or no foot regular traffic.
The larger parks are mostly unusable because they're either too open, or too heavily frequented.

The only reasonably Metro-Accesible park I could possibly recommend considering is Dunn-Loring Park, which I've been meaning to scope out.
http://www.fairfaxco...-dunnloring.htm

It's a half-mile walk from the Dunn-Loring/Merrifield station.

There are others near to Metro stops, but they tend to be very open offering no cover. Or they're in weird parts of town.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

I remember Bruin Park. You hosted SuperNoVA there last year. Awesome war, kinda wish you hosted another this year.

I'm still leaning towards hosting this indoors. If it's going to be outdoors, it probably won't be until April or so. I really don't want to be nerfing when it's 35 degrees outside and mud everywhere.

Well, with it being indoors, that would mean probably a price to pay. Just like you mentioned in your post. I could probably make it to an indoor war.(not sure about getting a ride) But I don't work well with sterling being ahead of DC, which is a long trip from my place, which is pretty darn south.(In VA) Either way, the war would be a hell lot of fun. If it is outdoors or indoors, I'm looking forward to it, although I have a good chance of not making it.

Yeah I called up the laser tag arena in Sterling and they seemed pretty adamant about not letting players bring in their own stuff to fire (i.e. non-laser tag), even if the place is reserved for the whole day. I suspect the laser tag arena in Bailey's Crossroads will likely say the same thing.

There's still the airsoft arena in Rockville, though. I'll check with them to see if they'd let us bring in Nerf blasters.

In the event that they say no, I still want to host a war though the conditions might not be all that favorable for outdoors. I think General Getty park would be a great location for a small war, Wheaton park for something larger. Both are easily accessible by Metro. If there's a certain park anyone else has in mind, let me know.

I know this is kinda off topic since I'm not in the dc area, but Twitch hosts wars in a lazer tag arena pretty frequently. You might wanna contact him about how to go about getting permission.
