If you don't care, then why did you post the topic? If those ranges are real, how exactly are you getting the string attached to a PT without uneven advancement, therefore killing the seal? (unrelated: lakewoodz, check your pms. i see you on there.)

The plunger consist of a long and skinny metal rod, with a ring of E tape. It is bent around the string to hold it.

The OP was by no means the first to try this.

But you won't be seeing any "proof" from me.
This is a site devoted to TOYS that reasonable people can reasonably shoot at each other without expecting grievous injury. This insane shit just does not qualify.

This is no more useful to the nerf hobby than being "first" to post something about launching a foam dart from a firearm. "But ... but ... but ... it's only blanks!" Yeah, right. Just ask Brandon Lee how safe that is. Oh, you can't?

I don't know if you noticed, but he said it was at a 45 degree angle. So, I'd guess it gets 80' flat, which is about the same as the CPVC bows, which is not unreasonable. The only unreasonable part of this whole thing is claiming ranges based on a 45 degree shot.

Range is how far the gun shoots, at max.

;_; Hey, I know you... But... You can't be you! There's no coming back, man! There's no coming back!

Not here. In the NIC, we quote ranges with no angle, parallel to the ground. Otherwise there is too much room for error. Also, check with ANYONE in firearms, none of them would quote a range based upon a ballistic trajectory.

Because I can hit a target at maximum range, it is also considered effective range. In ballstic firearms, this is the range used. Also, sorry, I did not know you used flat ranges, I will later.

You might be able to hit someone with that at 180 feet.... with 1 out of 100 shots. Effective range is usually the range it's accurate in.

Numbers don't mean anything, it's if you can actually hit something. If you can hit a moving target 180 ft away using an angled shot out of a bow that you need to hold rock steady while firing it, I will praise your skill.
But you might want to throw up some pictures man, I want to see it!

Angled ranges give an unaccurate picture of a blaster's range. While it can hit that angled distance, no one is realistically going to be able to hit anything aiming like that. A lot of modders on ebay use angled ranges, and that annoys me because it's obvious they're just trying to make more money.

I'm sure someone could make a blackpowder nerf gun, or something ridiculous like that, but the purpose of nerfing isn't to propel a dart as far as humanly possible. We play with toys.

Anyone else hoping for this to go wrong, right in front of his face?

It's been done, the idiots fired a tagger out of .44 black powder. it didn't end well.

It was an old navy colt. They loaded it up with a standard black powder charge, and filled the tip of a cut down streamline dart with like some lead shot or something. They shot it at their friend, hitting him in the nut sack, and he had to be driven to the hospital with a ruptured nut sack.

Anyway, Bows? Right right right.

What has a long weekend wrought?

First thing first. This is not real firearms, this is nerf. We quote flat ranges because they are the most uniformly verifiable, and they are the only effective way to use our blasters accurately. If you refuse to give us flat ranges, you'll just have to deal with us calling you an idiot.

Second, I don't care what you do or do not consider safe. I have a thousand 13 year old kids reading this site, so I'm not in the habbit of encouraging the use of anything built for a purpose other than shooting safely at 13 year old kids.

That's it, no discussion.
