If Mantis and I go, should we fly into LA or San Diego? We need to research everything and present it to our parents. Is there anybody we can stay with and leg a ride there? Or is there a motel/hotel we need to look into? If anyone can give us some details, it would be much appreciated. You should have our final decision on attendance in a couple of weeks.

And GrOOve, do you think the parents will let you trek up to NJ for apoc this year? If they do, I'm sure we can find you a footon to sleep on for a night or two.

I think GrOOvE put it best.

But I just figured out I have a really good argument! Grinch, Bobert, and I are depending on my dad for him to take us there. Oh well, hope I can meet some of the east coast guys.

Yeah, I'll sell my soul. Just hope it doesn't go to waste.

If Mantis and I go, should we fly into LA or San Diego?

If one of the SD guys wants to volunteer to house you, that would be closest and would require a flight to SAN.

If one of the Irvine guys wants to house you, that would be second closest. They'd probably prefer you fly in to John Wayne (SNA) Airport.

If I'm going to house you I'd strongly prefer a flight in to Ontario (ONT) International. You're welcome to all the amenities that my living room floor and sofa confer. If you fly in to ONT, I will gladly provide pick up and drop off service. My Odyssey has more than enough room to get us and our gear down to Chez Toj Saturday morning.

If Ray is going to house you, he'll probably want you to fly in to Burbank (BUR) since it's the closest to him.

I don't want to imply that anyone other than myself has the means or desire to pick you up from the airport. It may actually be cheaper for you to fly in to LAX and take the shuttle out to Ray's house or my house than to fly into BUR or ONT. You're more likely to find a direct flight to LAX than any of the others. There is a possibility that I can pick you up or drop you off from LAX but I won't guarantee it - ONT is much closer to me and the traffic is hella easier.

Confused yet?

I'll let you guys know what's up by the end of the weekend / early next week. This mainly goes for Cxwq and Shindig.

Main problems for me right now are:
--Funding (I need a summer job to help pay for all this.)
--Time (If the 19th is the final date, then that is just a week after I get back from my excursion down to NC with my senior buddies...)
--Convincing (I have a gut feeling my parents will let me go to one or the other, not both. But shit, if they said yes to both as long as I can help pay, then...fuck - this summer will rock.)

Give me a day or two to soften them up and we'll see how initial inqueries go.

19th sounds rocking. i can probably get a good 4 people total down there with me, hopefully more. about the housing thing, i'll ask my parents about that tomorrow and get back to you guys. it may be a little more likely that i could house groove since my dad's sort of met him, but we'll see.

I'll be filming for a new nerf music video.

you, or julie?

Me.

Ana is too little to spend 12 hours away from her mommy.

Julie really wanted to come though.

Okay, great! Now there's a better than zero chance that Grinch and I can come!

My parents said the only way would be if we took that day as a one-day family vacation, and they said if we did go, Grinch could come. They would drop us off at Chez Toj, and they'd go off to do something cool.

That's the thing I need to convince them. Can any of the SD crew PM me some neat things to do that I can use in my argument? Thanks.

Eh... click the link. Worst case scenario it's basically identical to a typical park. Some wide open areas, some tree and brush covered areas. Primary difference is that there aren't a bunch of people at Toj's house to compete with us for use of the land. It looks like there's enough space to do a 3-team CTF which would be uber-cool for an Armageddon-sized crowd.

Only downside I see to the area is the enormous potential to return home with no darts.

:nugget: I hate to ask this... but how do you guys get your parents to let you fly all the way across the country for a Nerf War?? I'd have enough trouble convincing my parents to let me go more than 2 blocks from my house without their supervision... And just wondering; has anyone been stopped before for carrying a nerf gun in their luggage at the airport? I hope one of these days my family will go to California for a vacation so I can go. It's a pain trying to arrange nerf wars with people around here.

if it's in your the bags your checking, i'm pretty sure you'll have no problem, but VACC would probably be a better person to talk to about that. i think groove mailed his guns over here a week or so before coming to make sure nothing happened. i can't say i've heard of any incidents of people getting in trouble for nerf arsenal while traveling.

now, if i get 11 people to nerf in Altadena, i think we can get at least 25 people to armageddon this summer. make your plans now, ask your parents now, do everything you can to make it to Toj's on the 19th.

okay, there is a very strong possibility that i can house Groove this summer. my parents aren't too down with housing two people they don't know, so i someone else would have to house mantis + co. (sorry guys) but i'll know about Groove in a few days after i run it by my dad. Groove, i don't know how long you stayed with kevin, but you can stay a few days maybe a week with us if your cool with a couch, little brothers and a house with one bathroom. i can drive you down to oceanside (maybe 2+ hours) for armageddon. i've gotta talk to my dad (whose on a trip now) to make sure of everything, but i'll talk to you this week so you can book your flight and stuff.

Ok well first off, as far as permission goes, I (and most of the other people who have flown out) are old enough to not need permission. The rest did it with open, honest communication, having your parents talk to the people on the other side, and fundraising.

As far as luggage, you NEVER bring guns in you're carry-on, because they'd arrest you. I'd even be nervous to put it in my checked luggage. When I flew to New Jersey, and all the times the Horsemen flew out here, we shipped our guns first. That's the safest way pretty much.

Okay, well - parents are talking it over. I'm 80% sure at this time that I'll be able to fly out again.

My parents would feel a bit safer if I stayed with Kev and his enterage again, as that's whom I stayed with last time. Kev is the person my parents (and myself) feel most comfortable with...it's nothing personal with you Ray, I appreciate your offer and all (actually I really appreciate you all going out of your way to find housing for me) but right now it's looking like Kev - as long as there's still room there, I hope!

Anywho, plan on hearing back from me soon. I told my parents the quicker we decide, the cheaper the airfare. That seems to be a good motivating push...

My livingroom isn't all that big - you and Shindig may have to share a sleeping bag...

Right now I'm actually scheduling the next two months of mods, dart making, and propagandizing for the war. I mean scheduling like writing down my goals, prioritizing them, and creating due dates. Yeah. I hate 3 hours sleep the night before the war.

Three hours before an Armageddon would be a luxury for me...I hate it too but yet I always seem to do it.

I could possibly house someone as well, I have a guest bedroom. The main limiting factor would be how quickly I would grow to hate you. This factor is inversely proportional to the number of people staying with me, and how old they are.

Bobert and Grinch, start groveling with your parents. I want both of you to come.

This is the coolest fucking thing in the history of nerf for me(and probably Toj too). Toj and I were talking about the idea of baricades that we could make and set up in the open areas, we could even set up an outdoor arena for a "speed ball" type scenario. Oh, and I will bother to show up at this war, no matter what. I'm fucking stoked.

Yeah, I think 3-4 days was the quota spoon allowed me. More than that and hissy fits may ensue.

I gotta couple extra plane tickets that I need to exchange. I'm from chicago, but I know my old man wants to go check out the dodgers (god knows why, just kiddin cali people). I'd be willing to check it out. My clan's been together for about three years now, so lemme know if we're invited. airknight3423@mail2mambo.com

Seirus, you stole my avatar!

By the way, I am so coming to Armageddon, rain or shine. Ice Nine and I are meeting up next weekend for our 'rents to meet. Hopefully, if all goes well, we'll have a carpool worked out.

Oh, and Spanky lives about twenty minutes away from me as well, so maybe I can get him to come, too.

I think three is my dad's maximum haul, Grinch. Sorry.

I have about a 75% chance of coming, and I talked to Mr. Bobert'd dad, who said he could come.
