Hey guys, i did search for a write up on the Alpha Trooper AR removal and got nothing, so here it is. Its very easy nothing major but in my case it added about 10-15 feet onto the range. In my opinion this is a pretty sick blaster, it shot about 30 feet stock, after my last purchase (longstrike) i was impressed. The Alpha Trooper is kinda like the pokemon Mew, its cute, small and fun to hold but when you try and fight against it it's unstoppable. Also sorry about the picture size i didn't know they were going to be so big.

Alright so here we go:

Step 1: Unscrew your blaster.

Very straight forward nothing hidden.

Step 2: Here is a quick shot of the internals

Step 3: Next we are going to take off the spring, plunger and lock.

Posted Image

Step 4: Then work the barrel out, and (sorry i honestly don't know what to call these two pieces)

Posted Image

Step 5: Air Restrictor removal.

If you look at the picture below, you see that this thing has a different air restctor than most other guns, that i have seen. It looks like it is made to allow more air through then previous AR's.

Posted Image

and while your taking out the AR chop off this clip lock too.

Posted Image

here is what it looks like with out the AR nice and clean <_<

Posted Image

Step 6: Reassemble your blaster, and screw it all together and let er rip!

PS: I thought to my self "hey lets try and use a deploy spring to double spring it!" well turns out you cant because that would be too perfect, they are the exact same diameter

Alpha Trooper on the right, Deploy on the Left.

After the AR removal it went from shooting mid 30's to around 45 feet as an average the furthest of 18 shots being 63 feet, but the only happened twice. The condition of the bullet also seemed to have an effect so maybe stefans would work better.

hope this helps...though its an easy mod

After the advancement of the Deploy not having a bolt sled, it's sad to see this have a bolt sled. However, it is shorter than the Raider, and still has Slam Fire, so I guess it's something different. Thanks for the internals and write-up ZimZam.

EDIT: Had forgotten that sci-olyrocks posted internals first. However, there are some more detailed pictures here, so credit to both.

Do you have a Raider so you can take a picture of a size comparison? If so, that would be appreciated.

And in my alpha trooper, the plunger tube spring was black, as were all the other springs. It was not silver, and preformed bad for some reason. That is why I later swapped it with one of my extra stock recon springs. That gave it some kick to ranges.

Edit: After reviewing your photos, your alpha trooper came with a black spring too, but you decided to change it and not tell anybody.

Hmm...without the stock on the Raider, they appear to be about the same length. Maybe there's not as much variety as I thought.

Don't be fooled! This may be just as long as the Raider, but the magazine well is vertical instead of horiztonal! And... and... it's got a different magazine! Well, it's a drum just like the Raider... BUT it carries a different amount of darts!... Less darts. Damn. Nevermind.

The only real difference is in the pumps, the Raider's has a nice foregrip, while the Alpha has a normal shotgun grip. That and it also LOOKS different enough for all the kiddies to want to buy it also.

no i didnt change the spring, i know i didnt because when i painted my deploy the spring got white on it, and i used that to tell them apart and its sitting right next to me,

@debandgeek yea with out the stock the guns are about the same length but for some reason when you open the box the alpha trooper looks tiny.

It's also about $12 cheaper, and the smaller drum looks much more maneuverable.

Nice write up, thanks for the info.

Edit: Also, the clip being on the bottom is a nice change

^ this. I always hated the giant 35 round drum, nobody needs that kind of ammo capacity. When I used my Recon indoors with a raider drum on it, I didn't empty the drum the entire war. (I reloaded after each round obviously)
Nice gun man! 40-50 foot ranges are great for an indoor primary--- hell, I might break down and buy a gun at MSRP for once.

Even stock, it does feel like this gun has a bit more of a kick to it, relative to the Raider. Dart velocity seems higher out of the box, though that may just be a result of the different AR design.

I find that the slam fire is not as smooth on mine as it is on any of my Raiders, but I may just have a slightly less good one, as QC seems an issue on these from what I've read across the NIC. Anyone else notice this, or do I have a bad one?

The mechanism is the same on both the raider and the alpha tropper, but it seems like the raider's "slam fire bar" has a bit more contact area with the boltsled. Maybe just enough to be beyond the threshold for variance.

No sllewgh my Trooper does feel a bit different when you slam fire it, its feels just a tiny bit slower, but unless im looking for it i cant really tell the difference

@Zorn's Lemma that is a very good guess, i never thought of that, like sllewgh i just assumed that mine was a bit faulty though it shot good

I know that this is not related to the AT AR removal, but I think I have found the jamming problem that everybody is reporting. As you push the handle forward after priming the gun, the boltsled passes over the clip and then over this piece directly in front of the clip. The blotsled is hitting this piece on the the right side, and it is especially noticeable when you put a raider drum in the AT. All you have to do is sand this little notch to make it flush and it will not jam in this way.

Here is a pic of the inside.

Here is a pic showing you what to do. The blue parts show you the left side which you do not touch.
The red area is where the boldsled is hitting. The arrow is pointing to the little notch which you need to sand down.

yea, that would be a good assumption but i have not had any jamming problems with mine as of now, i just running the test to see if my bolt sled hit the right side, it doesn't on mine but maybe i got lucky

An update to my findings. The only other reason it is jamming is because people are not priming it hard enough, and the boltsled is not hitting a little nub inside the gun, causing it to get stuck. Internal pics up soon.

In response to my earlier comment, even though it doesn't provide as much variety, if one just wants the slam fire and doesn't want to spend as much to get a larger clip/drum, this is a good alternative to the Raider.

Question about this mod guys. Only my 2nd attempt at modding so sorry for the noob question.

Ok I've drilled ok some stuff out of it. In the back of the tube it looks like theres a ring with 3 pieces of plastic coming out of it attaching itselfs to the tube. Do I remove that ring?

Heres some pictures to help you guys understand what I'm talking about.

Back of tube (Can faintly see the ring I'm talking about, the white in the picture is the light going around the ring)
