I'm pumped to shoot some foam tomorrow!

I'll be bringing a few blasters to play with and possibly a few to trade. I have limited space to pack since I'm not driving myself. So, if you'd like anything from this list, PM me before 5:00am tomorrow and I'll try to bring it. If you don't PM me, I probably won't show up with it. We'll need to finalize a trade before 5:00am tomorrow because I won't be bringing things only due to "interest" unless I know you fairly well.

* I wanted to write up my inventory so I could keep track of it from school anyways - I didn't type all this just for this war *
DTB – ARs out w/ NF spring
Blast Hammer x2
Missile Storm
Hoverblaster x2
NB-1
Slingshot
Vulcan tripod
Raider drum shell – internals there but not assembled
Recon stock x3
Maverick – ARs removed, Russian roulette modification
Raider drumx2
Raider stock
Recon barrel x2
Bow and Arrow- RSCB’d
Arrow Storm- PETG barrels, rear loading, w/ black, green, and silver PJ
Tetra Strike – PETG barrels
Double Crossbow
Spy Gear Missile Launcher- Small leak that I haven’t looked into
Recon x2
LSFG x2 (1x yellow, 1x blue)
LS scope x2 (yellow)
Clear Recon w/ all parts
SupaSplat – ½” CPVC coupler
Vulcan chain
Magstrike clip x4 (2x stock, 2x barrel posts removed)
Detonator
Reactor – ½” CPVC coupler – crap
SSPB from launching YouTube video
N-strike clips x12
Raider- ARs out, RFSG spring, maybe some other little stuff, and a white with glow-in-the-dark orange and green accents
Tommy 20
Alpha Trooper – AR removed, some other little stuff
Flip clip holder
Badalier belt
Magstrike x2 (1x stock, 1x OPV cut off, trigger lock removed, maybe other little things)
Airzone Crossbow (orange bungee blaster)
RF20- Cracker trigger but otherwise stock
Drac made +bow
BBBB – With the new version trigger, ½” PVC coupler, and a slot for a ½ PVC hopper to come out the top
AT3K- PETG barrels, rear loading, replaced pump handle, OPV plugged

I'm only looking for older, rarer blasters. I'm not really interested in anything from the N-strike line except a Longshot or two.

EDIT: Hippo, I'm not even going to think about bringing all of this! I meant if someone wanted a thing or two, I'd squeeze it into my bag. I'm only bringing my +bows and my 3K.

NIB NF
Stock TTG
Plunger Tube Replaced TTG
Crossfire (AR removed)
Pulsator (I don't want to bring this home)
Modded Pistol Splat
Semi Auto 2K in a MS shell
Modded Lanard Quadshot/triple shot

See you guys there tomorrow

Buffdaddy is correct - unless your PistolSplat is hitting under 50', it wouldn't be usable in a Pistol-Only round.

Can't wait to see what new monstrosity Ryan has created.

Can't wait to try out one of Carbon's bows. (Wish I had some cash so I could think about buying one!)

Can't wait to see what kind of turnout we get, what with all the hype and the large number of maybes.

Basically - I just can't wait. Better go try and get some sleep now! See you all in the morning.

I AM BEAT!

Seroiusly - you guys wore me out. Next war is officialy a 2 hour affair, this fat old guy can't hack it. (Kidding of course - at least about the length of the war!)

I might get around to a more detailed recap post at some point, but I wanted to get a quick one up for now, while it is still fresh in my mind.

Pros

- Over 40 active Nerfers on the field at the same time for much of the day. (Remember, we had a total of 9 players at the last one, 8 for most of the day - and broke at about 1:00 because half of them had to leave.)
- Nerfing with Nerfers from 6 different states - Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. (Yes, they made a 10 hour drive to be here.)
- 10-ish spectators in the forms of moms & dads, some of which joined in for a round or two - that was awesome!
- Getting to meet lots of new people - many of whom I've seen or talked to online.
- Everyone had awesome attitudes, no problems that I was aware of.
- Getting to see Ryan and Kane again - you guys are fun to hang out with, and even more fun to shoot at/be shot at by.
- Seeing and using Ryan's newest Homemade. I won't spoil it for anyone not at the war, I'm sure he'll show it off sooon. It is made of 100% pure crystallized win. With a cherry on top.
- Seeing Kane's HAMPs again, as well as his new bows. They are awesome.
- Meeting Carbon and his daughter, and seeing their sweet bows in action. (And acquiring one for myself!!!)
- The Melee-Only rounds were a nice change of pace, especially spaced out through the day.

Cons

- My feet hurt.
- Trying to scrape together enough darts to play until Ryan and Kane got their with their Dart stash, which wasn't until after lunch. (Don't worry, you guys are forgiven.)
- One kid threw up from too much water and too much fun.
- I think one kid hurt is wrist. I hope it's ok.
- I ran out of steam and didn't participate in the final 2 rounds, which were Defend the Core - a game I really wanted to play. My problem, not yours. :o
- My feet hurt.

We played the following game types:

Melee-Only CTF
Melee-Only Meatgrinder
Melee-Only Assault (Carry the bomb to the kill point, count to 5 and BOOM)
Humans vs Zombies
Sieze the Balls (3 teams)
Strategic Assault (Large Target, Melee Target, Capture and Demolition objectives on both sides)
Defend the Core (single-core, Attack/Defend)

I think that was all. If not, someone else will remind me what I am forgetting.

I'll post my stuff, why not?

Pros:
-Finding out I'm actually awesome at melee. Dual-wielding lightsabers on the melee-only rounds and getting both assaults, and going through 2-4 people with sword and shield before death on the other times was awesome. Although I'll have to break down and get actual nerf swords; even when being careful, lightsabers can still hurt. So I should try not to abuse the option in the future.
-Meeting so many people! 40 players is awesome, and in addition to seeing the Columbus players one last time before school fully kicks in, I got to meet the Chicago-area nerfers. And have fun with the little kids; that never ceases to be awesome.
-Not having to bring my own darts. Enough said.
-Free longshot. Also enough said.
-Running myself ragged by the end of the day. Because if you aren't tired at the end, you didn't Nerf.

Cons:
None come to mind, actually. Maybe finding that even dual-wielding has a hard time with the Overcompensator?...but that was a lot of fun in it's own right, so no biggie there.

Great day, everyone!

That was so much fun. And, like Ambience, my feet hurt.

Pros:
Got three new guns. (3k, Green Mega Missile, and a Nite Finder)
Got to meet a bunch of people
Got a hilarious dick-shot on Ryan with my Nite Finder
Got to see Ryan's new homemade. It's insane. That is all I will say.
My dad won a clear deploy and asked Coop how it was. Very funny if you know Coop's opinion on deploys

Cons:
My feet and legs are sore.
My shoes are now very, very dusty.
Got shot multiple times by Kane, Ryan, and Carbon
My HAMP had some breakage so I couldn't use it very much
Had to sit in a car for 2.5 hours to get home

Overall, it was an awesome war. I can't wait for the next one!

Has he taken my advice and set it on fire yet?

Seriously, that was an amazing war. Again, thanks so much to Ambience and Matt (YougotNerfed?) for hosting that war. It was amazingly efficient and the attitudes were great. I hope to make it out again soon.

List that everyone else loves to do:
+ Lots of people
+ Putting more faces to NH names
+ Fun game types - not how I typically play Nerf but quite entertaining
+ Great location
+ Hosted wonderfully. Very little down time and nice about explaining game variants - Good job Ambience and Matt
+ Great attitudes
+ Free shit? WIN - Thanks so much to Matt and DartzMart for the raffle drawings (I won a NF, woot)
+ It felt like a real event, not just a gathering of nerds. Pro
+ I haz clear Raider! SCORE
+ Bonus rounds with Hippo, Brian, Ryan, and Kane
+ GUMMY BEARS

- Minor problem with a few particular people cheating
- 3 hour drive

I shot some video of the war and some things. I'll post the link to the video when it's up - give me a week, I have other things to do.

Man, that was one helluva day. Scattered bits of fail were not able to overcome the massive pile of WIN that was this war. I'll do plusses and minuses, just because it's fun. More later, but this is what jumps to mind right now.

+ Leaving on time at 4:30 AM.
- Not knowing that Fort Wayne is in Eastern time zone. Oops. Just as well, no way was leaving at 3:30 happening.
- Google Maps not knowing about a weird, poorly labeled detour in East Chicago.
+ Zen driving out of it.
+ Meeting Ambience, Coop, Buffdaddy, and a whole bunch of new Nerfers. Everyone was great.
+ A huge variety of blasters on the field. Nothing like taking my two-shot long range gun up against a guy with two Magstrikes....and getting taken out by a rain of darts.
+ What was the age range, like 6 to 40? Fantastic.
+ The youngest player there, tearing it up with a sword and a shield. I swear he tagged everyone there at least once.
+ Getting to use Coop's rear-loading 3k during the stock ammo rounds. Oddly enough, I really don't have anything that shoots stock darts worth a damn.
- Missing the Dart Stash of Doom for half the day, but
+ Doing stock and melee rounds instead.
++ Ryan's new homemade. Ambience's description is perfect, but he forgot the whipped cream. Dear god.
+ Zombies don't like old guy brains. One shot = one kill.
+ My daughter had a great time, and is already looking forward to getting to nerf again.
- Driving 10+ hours in one day, but
++ Totally worth it to make it to this war.
+++ The biggest war I've ever been to. It's amazing how much some of those games change when you get double the number of people on the field. Games that have always been a lot of sprinting and firing turn into firefights for every inch of ground.

Great war, Ambience (and Gettin' Nerf'd! thanks for the giveaways!). I'm looking forward to coming out your way again.

This was awesome and I am looking forward coming back for the winter war Ambience was talking about. Ryan's bow was amazing I got to shoot it a couple of times it was really nice but i will say no more about that. It was also really cool meeting buffdaddy and a bunch of other people. Overall it was a great time.

Official pictures from the event will post after Ambience's approval. (Which he will have a copy of very soon, promise.) All in all, the weather was perfect, feedback so far is very positive and believe that only a few kids suffered from tiredness, and not boredom by a longshot, (not literally speaking). I was extremely pleased to meet members and put their faces with NH call signs. Also to meet one of my Youtube favorites in person (thanks Coop).

I wanted to thank everyone for stepping up in offering assistance / participating with initial step-up, dart-sweeps, and clean-up to make the event flow smoothly, and leaving the area as we found it. This location is suitable in hosting many future events and we always need to respect the school's property at all times so we can have access.

As for the liability and legal sign-off, I understand it was kinda awkward but necessary. Next time we hope to have the process a little more streamlined. Thank you of everyone for respecting each-other, showing great sportsmanship between small kids to adults, following the rules, and asking questions if needed.

One thing I seriously enjoy is feedback of ideas, so I put this question out there.
What do you suggest we need more of for next time? Water, Tables, Event Staff, more Zombie Obama? "Votes, want votes."

(Coop) As for your comment about cheating, I told you during the match that you were not out since my flagging tape fell off. I was not trying to be a double agent, just thought this old guy was having great luck for once with tagging 3-4 people before I was finally out.

A side note from Dartz Mart, many of you inquired about items that were not at the event to trade/purchase, if you wish to continue communicating, please contact me at either through the Dartzmart.com website or via our email address Dartzmart@comcast.net.

Hope to see you all again soon,

My comment wasn't directed at you. You very nicely ninja'd (yeah, it's a verb now) behind me and got a fair kill. I didn't even see you, so your lack of a team tape wasn't a part of your kill - purely skillz.

The issue was with a group of the younger kids not calling hits. There were multiple cases where I saw my dart land, the kid flinch, look down at the impact point, and continue playing just because I didn't call it on them. If anyone noticed me getting more verbally aggressive as the day went on - that's why.

By the way, Tacti-cool was supa cool.

I did think about reffing a couple of rounds, but with that many participants without doubt maybe 3-4 refs are required to help in the calling of visual hits and I do believe your point has validity. I am extremely grateful and pleased that never once back at the table area did I hear one swear word throughout the entire day. So if frustration was getting to you, you channeled it well my friend. I sincerely appreciated you being a true sport throughout the entire event too even when you witnessed what you did.

If and when next time this happens, please let an official know and it will be dealt with and closely monitored. The foundation of the "FIF" event series is integrity, honesty, and fair play.

What did you think of the badges?

I think the badges are a great idea, because one of the big problems with a war this big is not knowing anyone's name. I'd probably just suggest having sharpies around to fill them out with, and encouraging to write big.

Along those lines...with that many people, it'd probably work just as well to do random team picking, i.e. line up and count off by twos or threes. It's hard to pick teams when people are coming from all over, and no one knows names (and you can't see the nametags).

Reffing would be an effective way to counter these hidden hits, but I really don't think that should be needed for our hobby. I don't actually care about winning or getting shot, I go out to land some nice hits on people throughout the day. I don't see why people feel the need to cheat at all in this game - winning doesn't get you anywhere. I think the best thing to do is to wait 1-2 more months until those kids, with their incorrect mentalities, move onto another hobby like paintball where their cheating is encouraged.

The badges were a good idea. I don't think I ever read someone's tag though, I just asked. The print was too small for mel. I think that DM guy had the right idea by writing his name really large across his shirt.

I agree with the team picking. There were some pretty powerful blasters that kept being picked first, but after the first 10 picks it didn't really matter (no offense to people that were using weaker blasters). A random pick then a host switching around a few +bows or PAS's to even it out would be much more time efficient.

You were quite skilled with the dual-sabers. I was bummed that I never really got to take you on - I love testing my skillz against a fellow duelist. Maybe next time...

And yeah, the Overcompensator is awesome, but a bit unbalancing. I need to make another one so we can make sure each team has one.

Cons:
My shoes are now very, very dusty.
Had to sit in a car for 2.5 hours to get home

Yeah, dusty shoes here too. Last time it had rained all night before. The treese swallowed up most of the water, so we weren't playing in mud, but the ground wasn't dry and dusty like the desert it was for this war.

Oh, and I don't hear you complaining about the 2.5 hour car ride to get to the war...

List that everyone else loves to do:

I shot some video of the war and some things. I'll post the link to the video when it's up - give me a week, I have other things to do.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game types. I tried to get a nice varied list of games out there, hoping everyone would find at least something that suited their tastes. I think the Zombie rounds, Carpe and Strategic Assault were my favorites.

Thanks for the compliments on the hosting. I actually felt like there was a bit too much downtime - especially when we were trying to get teams divided up - so the fact that you thought the opposite means it was probably pretty much ok.

Sorry about the cheating. I've read your further comments on it, and I think I know what you are on about. I'll see what I can do about preventing that in the future. Glad it didn't ruin your whole day!

I look forward to seeing the videos that you shot. Hope I don't look too awful in them! :D

Great war, Ambience (and Gettin' Nerf'd! thanks for the giveaways!). I'm looking forward to coming out your way again.

Thanks Carbon. You didn't miss too much during that first hour - mostly a few melee only rounds while my buddy ran back to my house to get some darts so we could have at least some supply until Ryan got there.

It was quite nice meeting you as well sir. You are a gentleman Nerfer and it was a pleasure to fight by your side as well as against you!

I think that was about the spread, yeah. And you weren't the only 40+er to join the fray. AbyssMods mom (I'm pretty sure that was who she said she belonged to) said she was 41. She tore it up during Carpe - got at least two balls during the round to help my team pull out the victory.

Yeah - that little guy was so sneaky, and he kept cutting people down with his sword before they even knew he was there. I know I was his victim more than once!

Glad your daughter had fun. It sure looked like it. I remember the look on her face when she out-shot me to get a kill. Brought a smile to my face. Way to train her up right, dad!

I certainly agree with your game size comment. Strategic Assault esepcially felt truly Effeminate, with people forming groups to try and push ahead to one of the objectives, and fighting for every bit of progress. The number of times people started counting for the bomb, only to be eliminated before they said "boom" was awesome!

By the way, Tacti-cool was supa cool.

Yes. Yes he was. Dual-wielded Mag-Strikes FTW!

Taking and calling hits and respawning are problems at pretty much every war, and mostly with newbies. I missed the first hour...were the rules for hits laid out? Because now that I think of it, I don't know if many wars that I've been to every spend time establishing the basic rules...calling hits, raising your gun when you're hit, immediately clearing the area, stuff like that.

I think that DM guy had the right idea by writing his name really large across his shirt.

I used to think it was odd and maybe a little narcissistic to have a shirt with your own name on it...but I'm coming to realize that it makes a whole lot of sense. In games that rely on team play, having to call out "hey nitefinder kid!" just doesn't work, let alone picking teams. It may be time to start designing a shirt. If everyone did that, and posted designs beforehand, it'd be possible for people to recognize players on sight at a war.

I'm thinking that I will do that before the next war or maybe a large strip of duct tape across your shirt with your name on it instead of the tags.

We tried that at the last SPANO...it falls off with the sweat. Granted, SPANO was something like 90% humidity so we were all sweating like crazy, but it'd still come off over the course of the day.

Recap! Awesome war even though it started off with a whole bunch of fail.

+Awesome turnout, we had close to 40.
-Waking up late, and showing up around lunch
-Being further late not knowing we were in the Eastern Time zone.
+Wide age range, everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun regardless of age.
+Melee rounds were a change of pace and were actually fun.
+Ambience and Getting Nerf'd doing their part in being great hosts. It felt like a legit event.
+PACrossbow. Tits.
-Indiana is an awful state
+People from six different states, crazy.
+Effeminate post war feast.
+Horses carrying Amish people.
-Only nerfing for half the day
-Defend the Core was mediocre; the attackers were shooting into the wind which led to a very low score game
+Carpe, fun as always. With that many people I'd like to try a variant, and also try using 4+ teams.
+No deathmatch

Next time, hotel Friday night, so we actually show up early to get stuff setup.

So I take it you guys did end up hitting the Golden Corral as I suggested?

Melee rounds rule - as long as everyone understands we aren't out to break bones, they just plain work. It is fun to get up-close and in your face - easier to hear all the trash-talk! (I wouldn't want a melee-only war, but a round or two is probably going to be a staple at my wars now!)

And quit hatin' on my state. You're just mad that there isn't a site as awesome as Glenwood Park in your mediocre wannabe state. At least we pronounce all of the letters in our state's name!
