Hmmm. Makes me wonder if next Tuesday we'll hear about a certain ghostly successor to the Maverick being a Walmart exclusive. It would make the trifecta complete.

On a side note, I will say it's a good summer to be an indoor nerfer. While I can understand everyone else's laments about useless guns, when your distances average 15-25ft, almost nothing is useless. And it's fun to have options.

It looks like it will "break" in the part in front of the grey box thing. Then, you would load the darts in non tip side first into a scout plunger tube. Basicly, I'm saying it's a double scout with a long, "break" faux barrel.

I have a sawn off double shot that Brit did for me but it's crap, the distance really puts it in the emergency weapon category and even worse the reload time on it with the shells is way to much to be useful, especially in hvz which lets be honest is the main time you want a sawn off shotgun.

This looks pretty awesome actually, though no ranges yet, but it is a nerf gun so it will most likely get more than the 3' i got from a stock DS. I think I may have to splurge and buy it. I'll just have to fight off the urge to single it...

Completely agree with you (well about the blaster), they are crap to begin with and sawing them down makes them look better but it's never going to be a good gun.

I was debating just these 2 man, like some crazy pistol round bit more reliable than our constantly jamming Mavericks

First time I heard that in a while...

Would someone please explain to me how a reverse plunger would be used in this blaster? I think it would be more like a NF.

There is not enough space in the gun for the typical plunger setup. Think longshot and all the space its internals need. There is simply not enough space for a regular plunger tube, plus space needed for the plunger rod when the gun is cocked.

This gun will most likely use two reverse plungers. I'm betting they will look like maverick plungers.

I'm actually kinda excited about this blaster, since it strays away from the assault rifle look of most N-strike blasters and actually looks designed from the ground up.

Seven7h Man, that's a good point.

However, I still feel like Hasbro would just use a reverse plunger anyway, because that seems like their favorite thing to do. Because I guess it's easier and cheaper for them, even though Nerf is a top selling brand and they should be able to spare some money for quality.

I am hoping for a traditional plunger setup, because that's the way it should be. Reverse plungers are only okay if the barrel is nested completely in the plunger like in the Eliminators or the Scout, so there is no dead space.

You know, I want to like this. I really do. It's new territory for Nerf, at least. But I have no reason to believe this will be anything other than what comes down two Scouts attached together with breakbarrel action. The fact that it uses Sonics, and the length of the gun provide some hope that it'll be more Doubleshot-esque, but that would be bittersweet: a normal plungered gun from Nerf, finally, but it's still shitty. I don't know, maybe I'm making too many assumptions right now, but I still don't feel too optimistic.

EDIT: Forgot to mention one thing that makes me think it might be normal-plungered. Look at the end of the gun, on the silver part. It tapers inward. This, I believe, would make a reverse plunger set-up impossible, assuming of course that the plunger(s) take up the full width of the shell.

Yes, I'm well aware that the double shot has regular plungers (it sucks anyway, but thats besides the point).

If you actually look at the picture of the barrel break and compare it to the size of the hand that's holding it, you'll see it's much too small for a double shot setup. The gun, minus the barrels, seems to be slightly longer than the pictured hand. Now, take into account that that is a kid's hand.

Besides, theres no reason for hasbro to use a regular plunger.

I wonder who comes up with the names for these things? They seem to either be naming them after their function or by using the words "strike" or "fire". Third graders could do better than that.

This might sound a bit farfetched but hear me out. The grey piece on the back looks like it is possible that it can be pulled back, which means it would prime something like a Air-tech 1k? which means that it is quite possible that it has a standard plunger. Highly improbable, but possible?

I understand the gun is called the "break barrel" so my theory is most likely wrong, but it might only break so you can load the gun, and the orange barrels are faux barrels?

But it looks like it uses the whistler darts, which have a tip larger than the body. So I'm wondering how you rear-load those things as well.

EDIT: At this point, my guess is that you simply break open the barrels and then load the darts into the rear of the gun. The front barrels are likely only for show/some semblance of accuracy. Which really would be fairly pointless, IMO.

Thats what I think, so we we could just unscrew the hinge CPVC it and use it like that.

Yep, it'd be pretty cool as just a two-shot front-loading blaster, if the range was decent (or able to be modded to be decent).

How I think it works:

when you pivot down the front and pull it the rest of the way it pushes a lever which moves two plunger bars back and they catch on the sear. You slip the darts into the yellow part, with the black part a fake breach. Then you pivot the 'barrels' back up, moving the lever that pushed the plungers back forward, where it locks in place. I think that it's going to be silimar to a direct-feed RFR (no pipes, the plunger is directly behind the gun), which with some rearranging has potential. SOME. Not as much as say, an AT2K or X-bow, but some. I smell a break-barrel NF.

It seems like a good idea; but then again, so did the Vulcan. And the Raider. and the Recon. and the Mav.
