I have found a picture of the barrel break in it's box. It has the instructions on its side, which you can get a good idea of how you load it.

That handle looks atrocious... I didn't really get a whole lot from the instructions other than the obvious break action. However, in step 1, I think it shows that little switch next to the trigger. Is that a lock mechanism, or something to switch barrels?

I think it unlocks the barrel so that it can be loaded somewhat like how a shotgun is loaded.

screw the blaster!

Look very closely at those darts.

What's so special about them other that they look longer? The heads also look smaller, more in line with the dart.

Rear-loadable.

They seem to be basically streamlines with a whistler head.
The instructions on the gun show that it will be rear loading. This kinda sucks, you can't use normal stock darts. On the other hand you might be able to use stefans without removing the AR's. I'm not sure how the posts on the AR's would be.

1. The box says that it comes with whistler darts, which it does, according to the picture.

2. After paying close attention to the blurb of directions on the side of the gun, you load the darts in the barrel after you "break" it open, hence the name, barrel break.

Wow, you're pretty clever! Did you figure all that out on your own! I never would have guessed!

Thing looks cool, but I'm prepared for the inevitable letdown.

Well, with others saying that it is rear loading, i did not understand what the meant, but now I do. I was thinking that the rear loading they were talking about was you load the darts from somewhere in the back of the gun. Now I know that it means in the back of the barrel, compared with a front barrel loading system.

Do a search and you'll see a video.

I'm not posting it here to comply with NH's rules. But since more pictures came out, I think it's ok.

Wait a minute, that is your video. How did you get the gun so early?

If I remember correctly he's from Singapore, but I could be wrong.

The barrels extend before you prime it... that's so awesome. However the little "vents" on the back say reverse plunger. Oh well. I'll still buy it if it's not $30, if only for the cool factor. Who knows, At2K tanks may fit in there, but by then you might as well spend a bit of coin and get a Splitfire.

Remember, it is going to be a Toys 'r' us exclusive in the states. I don't think that it will be priced over $30 though, because it looks like a reverse plunger. Those vents could be there to show you which chambers are primed and which are not, so it has a slim chance of not being a reverse plunger.

It probably will be reverse plunger but it looks like it will be really easy to re barrel. So not so good for outdoors, but for us indoor nerfers, it will be awesome. (I'd like to clarify that I'm not saying I want it to be reverse plunger, but if it is, two scouts put together and rear loaded would be quite the gun for inside.)

This video gives a much better look at the barrel break. The barrels look horrible, but I like how there seems to be independent catches like the doubleshot.

I found this patent filed by Hasbro for a break-barrel blaster. It could be the same technology used in the Barrel Break.

Am I seeing a regular, non-inverse plunger in the patent's diagrams?

I'm fairly certain that's an airsoft gun. And even if its not:
"Filing date: Mar 10, 1988
Issue date: Nov 28, 1989"

Also, nerf confirmed on their FB page that the IX designation means the gun uses a reverse plunger - like the reflex IX-1 (eliminator)

If i'm correct, this would probably one of nerf's most interesting blasters. I know ILiekNerf (that's how it's really spelled.) has a unboxing video on youtube. You might as well watch it to see if you want this gun. (No i'm not promoting his channel, it's just that he has the only unboxing video on youtube that i know of.) Here's the link

Maybe it's just me, but I don't care about watching someone "unbox" a product for 2+ minutes before actually doing anything with it. Should just skip to the actual workings of the blaster.

Also, nerfidda, that same video was already posted almost a month ago, and in fact is only 7 posts above yours.
