No.

But you can have a diddle sandwich if it makes you feel better.

You don't get your choice of toppings on your diddle sandwich. They are, by definition, non-consensual.

You don't get to look at Nerfhaven when you're at work. It is, by definition, non-consensual.

High of 85 tomorrow. Dress appropriately, and bring water.

So it looks like it might rain in the afternoon, which is fine for me because I have to leave when we break at noon since I couldn't get off work. So as long as it isn't storming tomorrow or doesn't look like it will storm then I should be there.

I did absolutely no modding today! ¡¡¡¡FUN!!!! And I don't care if it rains, as long is it wasn't like today.... and it probably won't be, the storm will probably have blown through and we'll have nice weather. ¡¡¡¡FUN!!!!

Fuck guys, I am giving Paul a ride, but the people I need to see best be there early when I get there. I have to trade and run. My entire basement which houses my nerf supply, and my 3 desktop computers flooded, so I'm going to have to spend tomorrow cleaning up from that. Not only that, but after almost dying several times today, I really don't want to be shot at. So Paul, If you read this, you'll have to find a ride home. I'll still grab you in the morning though. I'll also need your address.

Sorry guys, but it's almost 8AM and it still looks like crap outside. I really don't want to drive all the way out to St. Paul and just hope that it clears up. I will catch the next war if there is one this summer.

I'm going back to bed.

I guess I chose poorly. Oh well, at least I got some sleep for once...

It does look like crap outside, but I've got nothing better to do!

I'll be a little late at this point (had to take care of a few things since my parents are out of town), but I'm in til it rains. Hopefully not as bad as yesterday, haha.

SPANO is always worth the 6+ hour drive, but man, this one was fantastic for a whole bunch of reasons.

+Not a single round of 3:15.
+Lots of objective based games.
+Nice variety of blasters on the field, both long range and high ROF (a big problem in the past)
+Teams that were balanced enough that we didn't need to pick new teams very often. It would have been nice to get to shoot at a few different people, but it's hard to argue with the kind of balance we had. 130 to 134 in a DTC game is crazy.
+Lots of cover. The cube mobstacles were great.

The only negatives were that some of the game types needed some tweaking (territories, Alamo), and I got diddle sandwich all over my arm. Other than that, great day. +++++++, would Nerf again.

A more formal recap is in order, though Carbon hit on the major points I wanted to cover.

I wanted to make sure that a lot of factors were in play at this war to make it great. As Carbon said, we had a good mix of objective-based gametypes, high ROF blasters, and Kane and Ryan brought enough darts to supply everyone with unlimited ammo throughout the day. The park was blanketed by darts by the end of the day. The mobstacles were a big help as well, as were the border flags, and the objective markers. Having the right equipment to play the games was a boon.

I love the new style of Defend the Core that we played, with an enormous core to shoot into. We flipped a mobstacle on its side to make a core, creating a 5 foot by 5 foot opening. It was very easy for attackers to land darts into the core, so it was the defender’s onus to be aggressive and push the attackers back. The MegaHAMPS added a fun dynamic to that game, since they are priority targets for attackers. And the end results were very close: 130 darts for the first team, 134 darts for the second. Last summer, we played DTC a lot with stefans and a little tiny core, and it sucked. This summer, we are playing with padded darts, hopper clips, and a huge core, with great results.

Testiculum is great as well, maybe my favorite gametype. I had the most action-packed time during that round, and all the running killed me for the rest of the day.

We did CTF as well. I’m not the biggest fan, but it works well enough. I’ll be keeping it for variety’s sake, and because it is an easy game to set up. As with all our other gametypes, we played with a time limit, and whoever got the most flag captures won.

We also tried a new style of VIP, which got good reviews from people. Two teams, each with a VIP. There is a 20 minute time limit, and all players (including the VIP) have unlimited lives. Everyone has a 15 second respawn (including the VIP). Whichever team scores the most hits on the VIP wins. In practice, this plays out a lot like a 3-15 team deathmatch, but without the silly long-range standoffs.
We played an Alamo round. I didn’t care for it, so I just ended up running around shooting people.

Demon Lord brought a flags for territories. We need to flesh out the rules more, but it shows promise. Demon Lord: you should explain the rules here.
Meatgrinder has a certain elegance to it that I appreciate. To those of you reading who don’t know, the rules are: two teams, 15 second respawn, unlimited lives. “How does one win?” you ask. Hahahaha… you don’t! As a warm-up round for the day, it works well.

Communal darts are awesome. We had a cooler full of several thousand slug darts, and pretty much everyone used them. This made for a much more pleasant experience. Having unlimited ammo is great, given my heavy use of hoppers. Another great advantage: when you pick up a dart off the ground, you are guaranteed to pick up a dart that fits in your barrel and shoots straight. The fluorescent paint on the darts made them very easy to find, so we had close to 100% dart recovery by the end of the day. For future wars that I host, I will probably be buying a few thousand darts for communal usage.

I love the new style of Defend the Core that we played, with an enormous core to shoot into.

Offend the core! Offend!

The bike ride up there was kinda tough, with the duffel bag and all even though it was totally well worth it. I had a stupendous time as well.

Prose

+ Unlimited ammo
+ Running like heew
+ MS thing worked darn well, until it died
+ Carbon doing awesome in the VIP round, even though he was on the other team. Seriously, you were impossible to get rid of. So good job!
+ Using the flesh
+ Getting a BBBB and a Tetrastrike
+ Finally getting a firefly turret and some wyes
+ Busted airtanks!
+ Running around
+ Unlimited darts
+ Kane and I's double business failures combining to make a success!
+ ¡¡HAMPZ!! So cool. Offend the core was my favorite round by far, I think it was because HAMPs suit my playstyle, except for the reload time...
+ Not getting any super painful hits
+ Meeting Kane and McNumNumz
+ Eating children
+ DemonLord Looking exactly like my cousin
+ Meeting a bunch of other people (Jackster, ficksterkid, chicago guys)
+ Sitting around
+ Running through the woods and not getting any Poison Ivy on me! (I did see some)
+ REMEMBERING MY DUFFEL BAG
+ Making the snowman die three times before it actually counted during alamo
+ Tawkin' wif Sonny
+ Taking pictures
+ Cheese puffs. I can feel my arteries clogging...

Unrhymed Iambic Pentameter <-- I will be impress if you get that.

- Not being able to stay for longer
- Not seeing Busta
- It being pretty muggy out...
- Missing Testiculum. What is that, anyway? It sounds alluring.
- Forgetting my camera
- Realizing how none of the guns I own suit my playstyle...
- The fact that none of the guns I won suit my playstyle inspiring me to make some guns that suit my playstyle...
- Bringing shame to VIPS all across the world... sorry guys... :P

More to come? Sure... Also, let's see some pictures! I promise to bring my camera next time...

Bottom line: FANTASTIC WAR

That war was hella sweet, and I have both the welts and the non-functioning legs to prove it! Good job on organizing Beevs.
• The Flesh performed like a stone pimp.
• My quadshot performed like a stone pimp.
• My Sonic Bazooka in its 4th war performed like a middle-aged working mother giving her husband a pity bone. ‘Mediocre’ would be another way to describe it
• Chasing Kip over every square inch of the field INCLUDING the dense forest during VIP. Well done, sir.
• Offend the Core! A dream realized, and sweet teams for it!
• Meeting Fixter eating his non- consensual 3K’s shots every round he was here.
• Flag capturing with Velveeta and Jackster: FTW!
• Sweet showdowns and hold-outs with Tron and Shorts.
• Shout out to the Chi: Mini-McNumnums made the best darts on the field, and in abundance where we could have 1-3 dart bins ON the field at all times. Big factor to a fun day. Also mobsticals. Love you guys.
• Gots me a 3k!!!
• Seize My Balls coming down to the last 4 minutes to be decided.
• No-taps + no-shields + no-melee = a more pure form of Nerf (for my tastes). I’ll be a proponent of these guidelines EVERY time.
