The weld I used must not have bonded well with the PEX, which is odd, because the main ingredient is known to dissolve PEX.
PEX does not solvent weld perfectly as it is not really a thermoplastic any more. THF or DCM will still dissolve it and if blended with other resins (acrylic?) you should still get satisfactory results.

I'll just want to note that PVC cement is a pretty horrible glue for applications besides bonding pipes to pipe sockets. If you think about how tight and perfect pipe sockets are you'll realize that PVC cement is horrible at forming a thick solid bridges between layers, and if you try you have to wait more than 24 hours for a layer to reach full strength

There's a hole drilled there about 3/8" deep that holds the PEX very snugly. I also waited several days. I think I'm going to make the pex longer, and also sand the sides a bit next time. But thanks for the input. You're probably the only person besides Zorn who posted in response to my question that actually has real experience with solvents.I just noticed the two surfaces your bonding together don't seam parallel, the curve in the pipe wall to the nut, that's defiantly a case were you'll want to uses a solidifying gel or paste, bonding glues only work well with parallel surfaces with sufficient contact area.
