I also made a Nerf claymore. Though this isn't as cool as my Nerf grenade launcher its basically just an idea. I know it sucks in distance but that's why i posted this so i could get more ideas and hopefully come out with a finished project. So I'm curios to see what you guys think so please comment with ideas.

I think your claymore has great potential. Remember that the energy source for this "explosion" is the opening action of the lunch box--This could probably be increased with rubber bands mounted to the outsides of the box. Doing this will make to box open faster, increasing the initial velocity of the darts, which in turn will increase the range.

Also, explore new ammo-- The aerodynamic properties of a nerf dart are not helpful when it may be launched in any orientation. I would guess 3/4"-ish medium density foam balls to be ideal, but I don't know where / how to get them.

I don't really understand what about making a fun NEW nerf toy is milsim. Nerf doesnt have any good, safe explosive options, and this has potential to change that. This is the HOMEMADES section, where we are supposed to be developing new nerf technology, not playing fashion police over a guy's shirt, or hating on gameplay that becomes possible due to new technology.

While I personally don't approve of milsim in MY wars, you are entirely at liberty to do what ever you want at your own wars. If you want to use singled titans, fine. Or death darts too. Just know that there are certain things that the NIC will always erotically massage, and that the NerfHaven isn't at fault for anything you do, including using matte-black guns in public or shooting at cops. We can not stop you from using claymores or grenade launchers in your wars. So just keep posting your material, alot of people will be critical of its uses in a war, and I am sure that someone will give you a good idea for your mod.

Edit: I am not recommending any of the above scenarios, just stating that the NIC can not stop you, or be held responsible for you actions.

I where digital camo in my videos because its my trade mark for making any videos gun related. I just make these videos because some people want some diversity in there Nerf wars and i help with that. I like to invent new things for Nerf and see if people like my ideas.

Today I had nothing to do, so I got some mousetraps and modified your design. It is very very basic at the moment, but it provides enough to test with. My theory turned out to be right, and if angled correctly, can achieve possibly 10ft...rat traps would probably add another 5 feet if i used rat traps. Maybe ill get some pics up for you to see.

I would really like to see that when its ready.

I where digital camo in my videos because its my trade mark for making any videos gun related. I just make these videos because some people want some diversity in there Nerf wars and i help with that. I like to invent new things for Nerf and see if people like my ideas.

I did not mean my post to imply that you did milsim or anything of the sort. It was merly an address to the comments on how milsim doesn't fit on this site. I don't care what you do with your own free time, and i do support the development of new ideas for wars. My point was that the NIC can not regulate what you do, regardless of how many people complain about it. So keep on posting your ideas, they are pretty interesting.

On the same thinking that has been said before (it was another type of claymore) you can get a pump and a super soaker or something else and hook it up to multiple barrels to the thing about 3-4 inches long. Then you have rubber bands pulling on the trigger device and a pin holding it preventing it from triggering. This would both increase range and make it so that it's more directional and has greater impact. That's my main concern with anything nerf, is the strength of the projectile, because I've often been hit and not even felt it due to the gun being too underpowered, and with your design I'd hear it go off but I'd question whether I actually got hit. It's a completely different idea from what you had, but it would be more controlled. It would also take a heck of a lot longer to reload or set up which is the downside.

EDIT: Actually now that I've thought about it some more you may be better off replacing the dump chamber from the super soaker or whatever with pvc and use pvc cement to attach the pump and the release valve to the dump chamber, then attach the manifold to the release valve, and have the barrels angled differently to try to ensure a hit. I am thinking something along the lines of 5-10 barrels. I would however keep the pressure release valve integrated somehow so you don't over pump the thing and lead to it breaking or causing the darts to fly out with too much velocity.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this so i can make a few of my own. I'm part of a team that participates in HvZ at my university, and there have been many times that we were rushed by "zombies" and could really have used something like this to thin their numbers quickly and cause confusion as to who had been hit.

How expensive exactly are mousetraps, and do you think I could simply use toilet roll springs, with a piece of cloth suspended between the halves of the pencil case? I'd just prefer avoiding something capable of removing my fingers.

Edit: So I realize how you expect to use mousetraps now, but I'd be afraid of the spring on the trap being to powerful to the point that it would break the pencil case very easily. I did, however, find some really cheap torsion springs: http://www.rochfords...1_A_promoid_E_5

Heres the thing:If you want a quality one spend time to make custom, quality parts. Mouse traps arent as strong as you would think. Just add a spacer to prevent it from colapsing on your fingers as well as build your box, don't use a cheaply made pencil box. Ill do my best to have pics by tomorrow

The purpose isnt to make them snapping all over turning peoples feet into wannabe mice, but rather using the tension spring to propel the darts. My theory is all things dangerous can be modified to be safer, or vice versa.

Yeah, the idea is to extract the springs from the rest of the trap, no plate, spring firmly embedded inside the device, etc.
