First of all, my vote goes for number five as well. Secondly, another thing to consider is using the contour drawings of blasters you find in their instruction manuals as templates for this sort of thing. So far I've just traced silhouettes of some photos of blasters for templates I've used in planning out paint jobs and sketches.

I saved the image and tried to edit it in both GIMP and MSPAINT, but all of the colors I paint with come out black and white/gray.

I tried GIMP, too, and got the same results.

If you take a screenshot of the picture then use that it will work. Or you could just get the file from the Template Directory.

Just a note. I don't want everyone to post a thread for the kind of paint job you want. But it is a pretty cool idea and a good tool for planning things out so I'll let this one go. Lets just not make it a habit.
