Holy shit...

That is very nice. You sure you can't take any internals pictures?

If not, does anything stick out off the back when the blaster is primed?

No, on the back of the silver round thingy there's a small hole that will show the red plunger when primed.

I don't know what that means in regard to the Recon/Longshot internal debate though.

That's about it. And thanks Angela who helped me with these pictures.. It looks huge in her hands.

I do not think it has an inverse plunger seeing how it is much like the longshot. Compare it to a recon where as the priming mechanism is above the clip where as in a longshot the priming handle is behind the clip and the area of the plunger rod is above it. so I am assuming the longstrike is more than likely going to have the same setup as a longshot.

In both the LS and the Recon you can position the bolt anywhere,
We'll just have to ask Kevinirecon to please, please, please *drops to his knee......* open the gun and take some internal pictures, just to end the goddamn speculations!

But if he see's a small orange dot on the back when primed it's inverted, only thing I want to know is how big the plungertube is, is it like the recon or bigger or might even be smaller......

...what?

I think you might have a decent point somewhere in there, but I really can't tell. Something about where the priming mechanism is? Bolt-sleds or something?

Anyway, I wouldn't be too concerned about whether or not the internals are like the recon or the longshot. The major reason the recon internals were such a pain in the ass wasn't because it was an inverse plunger - although that had a lot to do with it - but rather because there wasn't any fucking room in the shell to do anything about it. This gun, on the other hand, is as big as the longshot, and I'm sure some ambitious pioneer with a dremel will chip out a ton of plastic and slap +bow internals in there. I'll go so far as to make that my prediction for 2010.

"Which road do I take?" she asked.
"Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

What I was basically trying to say was that its priming handle location and clip location is more like a longshot than a recon. Also about the red thing popping up when it is primed he may be talking about how the red thing popping like on a longshot when it is primed.

As much as I want to see the internals I do not want to pester someone who does not want to disassemble his extremely new and currently very rare blaster.

but you need to take more pics if you wanna help us out... If you prime the blaster and angle your camera so it can see diagonally into the slot for the priming lever it should give us a hint of the insides... take a pic primed and unprimed from several angles.... probably would not hurt to take a pic or two from the bottom without the magazine in the way also.

And maybe a picture of the prime indicator?

I think the info he has given us has been plenty. Thanks for doing this.

Don't feel pressured to disassemble your new, probably expensive blaster if you don't feel like you have the knowledge or skill to reassemble it properly. It's your blaster; do with it as you see fit.

Also, stop speculating! Can't you all wait a couple of damn months until it hits shelves before you start waving your dicks around about it? What does it matter what the internals look like if you can't do anything with them? It's not like you can go out to Target and buy one to mod right this minute.

From a business standpoint, the Recon style inverse plunger makes sense, though. Two moving parts, the bolt and the tube, plus the spring. Whereas on the LS style plunger, there is the bolt, the tube, the plunger rod and head, the spring, and the spring rest. Far less manufacturing cost in the inverse design, and (for their purposes) they still offer adequate performance.

Well, the TC was able to get one apparently... Also we like to know what it's like so we can decide whether we want one when they DO come out and we want to know what we can do to it... I'm not saying they should open the gun for us, unless they want to. XD

Don't think about it, saw that shit open, baby!

At least give us a pic of the butt of the blaster when it's cocked, so we can see that skin-chafing, recall-inducing inverted plunger tube.

Don't open it up if you don't want to. But if you're not going to open it up, see if you can give us some patent numbers we can look up. I'm no expert on patents but I would assume it would at least have it's own design patent as well as possible a patent pertaining to the Recon's reverse plunger or the Longshot style plunger.

Of course hasbro will try to slip a reverse plunger in there. It's what they've been doing for the past few nerf guns since the recon. All that space from the longshot's stock to its breech is for the whole plunger assembly. On this new recon, the space for such a plunger ends shortly behind the trigger. Even if there is a regular plunger set up in the gun, it can't be very big at all.

It's hard to call what plunger setup this gun will have looking at the pictures, as both the LS and Recon plungers require a decent amount of space to prime. Who knows, we might even get a completely new style plunger :)

Well guys, I don't know about this. At best it looks to be the same setup as a recon or raider with a slightly bigger plunger (to account for increase in range claims on the box).

I don't know about anyone else, but I've lost faith. It seems whoever is running the nerf brand at hasbro doesn't care about the things we want (as we are a minority) and I don't think we're going to see any new blasters that we'd consider good.

Looks, like Fat Bastard, dead sexy, but, unlike same, is basically a reshelled Recon. Unless the (inverse) plunger tube is bigger. I don't have much experience with inverse plungers; does bigger equal better potential once modded? I.e.: [desperately hoping] Is there a prayer that this thing might suck less than the Recon if it's modded well?

I also wonder how much it'll cost new. If it's more than P25, forget it.

EDIT: Realized that answering that question might mean disassembling the gun, but I thought of a workaround. Try holding both Recon and LK (new acronym!) with the opening of the breech flush, priming them both, and seeing which priming indicator is further from the opening of the breech. If they're the same, we know it's a Recon deep inside.

I don't know if this helps or not, but I found this review on Toys R Us. It could be a joke, but it might leave some hope.

New Blaster.
By Hasbro from Hasbro on 12/26/2009
Pros:
Attractive Design, Durable, Easy Assembly, Hours of Fun, Sturdy, Weather Resistant
Best Uses:
Group Play, Individual Play, Older Children, Physical Activity
Describe Yourself:
Collector, Education Oriented, First Time Parent, Working Parent
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Hasbro 1001119 Nerf N-Stike Longstrike CS-6 Blaster:

I am not really in a position to comment on this, since I helped design it, but I would like to say this is not a Nerf Longshot, or a reshelled Longshot. This is a completely new foam dart blaster with a new internal construction designed to make this the best foam dart blaster on the market. From a child's point of view, my son loves this gun so much that he has not put it down since he received a prototype to help test. I do believe this is the best blaster in our N-Strike line yet.
