Okay, um...edit again, the photos suddenly resized correctly, so...yeah. Cool.

But anyway, onto the mod.

Ok this is a simple mod mostly for indoor wars. It's basically a Nerf M203 grenade launcher using the pump ball gun and a Recon barrel. I was going to do this for a Longshot putting the ball launcher where the bi-pod was, but later found out it'd already been done, so I thought I'd make this.

Ok you start out by opening your ball launcher and you come out with these two main simple parts:
Posted Image

It's just a cylinder and the tube, with all the sealing and other random stuff thats already attached. What you going to do from there is cut at two specific spots on the barrel to shorten it. You won't need to shorten the spring. First, cut around right above the part of the side of barrel that's pushed out in kinda a long rectangular shape that was meant to guide the barrel along in the original shell:
Posted Image

Then, cut under the orange bit thats at the muzzle under the barrel:
Posted Image

Now you got three pieces of the barrel, the bottom, the middle, and the muzzle. You can throw away the middle part of the barrel because you won't need it, or maybe use it for something else. The bottom and the muzzle you're going to glue together using whatever glue you want, though preferably epoxy because it sets and cures quickly, and keeps a strong bind on whatever you're gluing. I used Plumbers Goop due to me hating epoxy at the time because of previous failures.

Once the adhesive has dried, get the white cylinder and hotglue it to the back nub on the bottom of the detachable recon barrel. Stick hotglue anywhere the white cylinder is touching the barrel:
Posted Image

Now, back to the barrel, we need to give it some better grip so that it's easier to use the ball gun, so we'll add a handle. I just grabbed the handle from and LSFG and took out the trigger. Hot glue it to the front of the barrel. the front bit of the handle should be touching where you glued the two halves of the barrel together:
Posted Image

You'll also notice the e-tape on the barrel. Well, the e-tape at the top is covering the spot I glued the halves together. I'm not sure why I put it there considering it won't help anything if the adhesive breaks, but oh well. The e-tape around the back of the barrel is to make the barrel snug with the white barrel so it's not joggling around in it, and to keep it going in straight. I put little strips of foam under the e-tape to make the snug fit. If you really wanted a perfect snug fit you could do this all the way around the bottom of the barrel, but I didn't feel like doing so because it didn't seem worth it.

Now you're done! Your finished product should look something like this:

I haven't been able to test this well due to there being residue from the glue that was inside the barrel, so the orange bit pushing the balls out is often getting stuck, so I need to sand it out before I can give definitive tests. so far from my tests that worked though, it seems to get general ball launcher ranges.

Wow. nice idea, and great job. It reminds me of a M203 grenade launcher on an M16. Again, great job!!

Nice job, and very cleanly done.

Does the recon have any mods done to it?

Nerfboi: Thanks, and yeah that's basically what I wanted it to be the nerf equivalent of.

White Moonlight: No, not yet. I was hoping to put some sort of gun in the stock, so you could take it off and have a final shot, but so far I'm having trouble finding a gun to use for it. Modding the recon itself just didn't seem worth it.

You could try an eliminator - they're pretty small, and if you've already expended six recon shots and a reactor shot, I'd expect they're within range of an eliminator.

It seems like it'd be better to powerstock the recon though.

The only problem with putting a gun in the stock is use the clip storage in the back of the stock.

The eliminator seems too complicated to get to work in the stock. I'm thinking about using the air powered secret strike pocket blaster due to how compact it is, and easy to set up.

As for the power stock, they don't give enough range to make it useful. A secret last shot will probably prove more useful than a little extra range, because you can lose your main gun and run up with just a recon stock and blast them. Plus, the humiliation factor of being shot by a pocket blaster would be quite funny.

white moonlight: I can just use my pockets for extra clips =P

Very Cool mod Darken. I've wanted to do something like this for awhile but have just been using my reactor by itself instead for close quarters. I might try this now though.
Just a question though, (and I'm sorry if I missed the answer to thi in your posts) doesn't the barrel of the ball launcher slip all the way out of the white cylinder now that its no longer in its stock? The barrel falling out of your gun while running might cause problems during a war if so; not that it could be fixed by bungees or some kind of catch.
Nice Mod.

Yes, it would fall out which is a problem I've noticed, but I often hope I'd be steady enough when cocking the gun so it doesn't fly out. The foam on the sides of the barrel covered in e-tape help the issue because it makes a tighter fit, but the problem can still easily occur. Though I like your bungee idea. I have some spare small bungees, so I'll try that out tomorrow. I'll post results then.

And its not nessescarily one ball in the reactor, It can hold multiple balls. So its almost like an underslug shotgun.

Anyway, good job on the mod. I like reactors, cheap guns with many uses.

What was the reason you shortened the barrel?

I shortened it because I didn't want this really long barrel extending farther than would be comfortable or practical. The smaller barrel makes it more compact and less bulky which in turn makes an easier to use and handle gun. Plus, I wasn't sure it would do anything, but I thought with the spring more compressed from the barrel shortening, it might get slightly better range. That theory still needs to be tested though.

Cool, so I wasn't the only one who saw value in that idea. I've got pretty much the same setup but with a longshot. Glad to see other people using ball ammo. It has certain advantages, especially in tight indoor wars.

Very nice! Not the cleanest, but painting it would cover it up well. I think that black and silver would look good.

Yeah, well, I'm not all that great at painting. Besides, as long as it's functional that's all I really care about.

The spring does not power the gun, its only purpose is to keep the balls pinned up against the end of the tube (heheh) to create a seal when you pump. Otherwise shortening is just your preferance

Yeah, I just thought maybe the spring would increase the tension of the ball against the end of the tube making it pop out faster. I really only did it to shorten it.

I can attest that shortening a reactor DOES improve range. The increased compression of the spring causes it to push the ball tighter against the lip, and create a better seal allowing more air pressure to work on the ball. It also decreases dead space which is always good.

With the longshot front gun handle on the front it kinda reminds me of the raider.

Now all you need is a blue paint job and a drum mag!

Cool mod, nice work.

Vinnie: Yeah, that's basically what I thought, 'cept for the less dead space, I hadn't thought of that.

Chaos: Thanks. With the drum mag and a gun in the stock this would probably be the ultimate indoor nerf weapon.
