I have been, for a long time, attempting to make a missile that could be launched from an off the shelf nerf missile launcher and could also somehow disperse darts over a wide area. I met these terms almost accidentally when I taped a cardboard tube onto a BBBB missile, stuffed the tube with darts and fired. This worked, but the range left something to be desired and the missiles popped because of the amount of pumping nescesary to get any distance. I solved this by super sizing the whole thing.


It's so simple it's shocking that it works so well, and I don't believe it's ever been posted.(Sorry if it has)

To make: Get toilet paper tube and cut in half so you have two tubes.
Cut each lengthwise and tape the tubes together to make a larger diameter tube.
Tape onto top of missile.
Load with darts( just enough so that they easily fall out)
Pump and fire at a high angle so that darts can fall out.

I like this because it gets a whole area covered with darts and the missile still hits some thing/one, its dirt cheap, and easier than doing a shotgun mod to the titan barrel. I haven't measured ranges officially but I think the missile hit about 50 feet. The darts usually fall somewhere 25 feet forward of you. The scatter depends on how you load the darts. I can get 8 darts launched and have a nice ten foot wide spread.

I've always wanted something like that as well. Excellent idea and execution. And yes, a video would be awesome. I know some of the image hosting sites will also host video. Photobucket does it. Youtube is also an option.

Out of curiosity, I went out and tried it. Heres a video so you don't have to delete any precious memories.

After watching that video this thing is all but completely useless. At the ranges it fired you'd basically have to be on top of any opponent to actually hit them. Not to mention when they see you coming they're just going to scatter, meaning you'll hit actually less if you ever get the chance to pull the trigger. Not to mention carrying all those darts around in what basically is a cup on a missile makes carrying around a worthwhile primary completely unpractical. So you're basically making yourself a meat shield except for maybe the one or two times per day you actually pull of the miracle of hitting someone with this. Not to mention, the missile went further then the dart. Anyone with half a year of experience is gonna blast you right in the chest or just run away before you can even get within your effective range.

Tie a kite string to the titan and back of the rocket: when the string is pulled taught the rocked stops and the stephens fly out and rain down. Seems easy to fire from behind a tree or any barricade, and even if people scatter that can be used to clear bases/flag locations/The Core, whatever.



Could one of you try this to see if it works? I don’t have a Titan.

Huh. TOW Missile. That could actually work. It would be a pain to reload, unless you used quick release clips. I'll have to try this later today just for the novelty.

Sorry but this excuse of a "mod" is totally useless. Ranges aren't practical for any type of shot. As Talio said, this would only work if you were on top of the enemy. A mod with the same use, but of much better performance is
the scatter barrel, not to mention it looks bad too (not that I care, but not functional AND ugly? Come on...) In conclusion, if you want scatter fire that much, make a good scatter-shot barrel.

That's not how TOW Missiles work at all. The wire sends corrective information to the missile via the wire so that the missile changes course and can hit a moving target. For me, my missile is actually practical in nerf wars in my backyard. My friends usually go up onto a second story deck and barricade it, so it's good for me to have something I can shoot up there that will scatter a lot of darts quickly.

does it really matter how ugly it is( which compared to some things here it isn't). It is functional and for me that is all that matters. Would giving it a fancy paintjob make it work any better?
