Dart of War is back! The UMD Nerf Activity Society proudly invites you to its second annual indoor Nerf war, held in the Art-Sociology building at the University of Maryland College Park.
Dart of War is a day of intense action, tactics, and teamwork, featuring many types of Nerf games, from Deathmatch to Capture the Flag to flash indoor Humans versus Zombies games. Navigate the twisting corridors of the Art-Soc building, eat shit your enemies from its balconies, or set up camp behind its numerous waist-high walls.
We do have some custom (stricter) rules than most wars, as we want to not get on the University's bad side.
Blasters:
The NAS allows the use of Nerf and Buzzbee brand blasters, as well as most all similarly operating blasters and foam darts. If you have an unusually powerful blaster, please contact an NAS moderator beforehand about verifying its approval for Dart of War. Please note, the Nerf AirTek 2000 and the Nerf Big Bad Titan will not be approved if modified.
Swords, boffers, melees, and the like:
The NAS allows the use of foam swords [catchall term] IF AND ONLY IF they have been approved by NAS moderators. The approval process is as follows:
->Moderators will inspect the candidate sword.
->Moderators will hit the player as hard as possible with the candidate sword.
->Moderators will hit another moderator as hard as possible with the candidate sword.
If, during this process, a moderator manages to break the sword, the player, or another moderator, the sword will not be approved. Moderators may otherwise reject swords as they see fit. Please note that no sword, regardless of moderator testing, may be thrown.
Other armaments:
Koosh balls are approved throwing implements. Please do not ask for approval of Nerf footballs, frisbees, or the like. As a rule of thumb, nothing larger or heavier than a Koosh ball has any business being a projectile at Dart of War.
Other considerations:
We will be providing waivers at the game, which must be signed to play. It is recommended that all players wear goggles or safety glasses. The NAS will provided a limited number of safety goggles, but may not be able to meet demand.
Final Thoughts
This was a great success last year, and we're hoping to repeat that.
