I don't know if this has been answered before or is just common knowledge, but are any of the nerfers attending the UofM wars students there? I would probably only go (at least to the indoor one) if a student had requested to use the space or was at least there to answer questions from any campus cops. I know at my old college if a bunch of non-students were running around with nerf guns they would be told to leave pretty quickly.

I think this particular thread has run it's course. Venom, why don't you go ahead and make a planning thread for the SoF wars. I will convert this thread into a planning thread for the indoor war later today.

Yes, I will bring U of M students to this, so I'm not worried. The U of M is so big that no-one really cares what you do. And if we get asked to leave, then no big deal -- there is another nice outdoor area we could nerf a couple blocks away.

I should be able to make the latter two wars. It would be nice if one of those two was at Highland, or someplace a little closer.

I will be there for SOF days 1 and 2. I agree with sam it would be nice if one was at Highland or closer. My input is Basset Park, Crystal, Minnesota. I did host a smaller war here last year and it seemed to go well. There are lots of trees and hills.

Is this Basset Creek park off Highway 100 and 36th? That place might be alright for a night war, but during the day it'll be filled up with disc golfers (that's where I go to play), especially if there's a tournament for whatever reason.

Yes, Velveeta that is the park. There is an area by the parking lot close to the playground that has covered picinic tables. That is around where we had the war last time and we didn't have any problem with the disc golfers because none of the holes are close to there. The cops even drove by and waved at us... it was kind of akward standing there with children's toys waving at cops.

I'll be at the last two; I think though, that we should start day one of SoF later. I know we've done 7 hours before, but since the point of having it later is for it to be dark, I'd rather not risk running out of energy when it's just starting to get dark.

As well, it probably won't start cooling off until 4 or 5 if it's a really hot day.

I vote everybody takes an early dinner and we go 5-10.

I went location prospecting:

Langford park/SAP elementary, would be a good Urban setting there are LOTS of corners around the building. The rest of the park is pretty nice, the trees in it are a little small and spread out for our purposes. The majority of the park is usually pretty deserted but by the REC center there are kids on the playground most of the time.

College Park, not that great a park for nerfing; it is basically a big hole with a field in the middle and wooded stuff around the outside. There are usually people at the tennis court and childrens on the playground.

I've been in Bumbkin ass michigan with no internet at all for about the past 5 days. I come back and see Paul has scouted out probably the BEST MN location to date. I fuckin love you Paul.

That park looks like DCNO on crack. Not only did Beaver's Effeminate arena get an honorable mention on the podcast, but this one will probably have Jersey people jealous. I so cant want to Nerf there.

And Koree, are you even back by then?

Very nice work Paul. The advantage with these two new places is that they are very close together. So if we got kicked out of one, we could simply move to the other. Do you think prior contact to school officials is necessary, or should we just show up and nerf? It is Summer afterall, so I can't forsee many problems. My tolerance on realistic looking guns is pretty much zero if we are playing at the school. I don't want one person fucking this up. I also promote wearing ridiculous costumes, like hamburger hats.

I don't think that we need to talk to school officials; in my experience the only people in there on the weekend are janitors and even if they tell us to leave we can just move to the middle area of the park.

So about the weekend of the 18th. Is anyone interested in having two wars then, too? I want to try out Paul's loacation and the indoor one too. Perhaps, two smaller wars on the Saturday or one on Saturday and one on Friday or Sunday. Anyone interested?

I could make any of those days but I think that Friday and Saturday wars would probably be the best for attendance.

Also I am only a maybe for the ex-SOF war; I am torn between a boundary waters canoe trip and Nerfing...advice?

I say check the weather report for the BWCA. If it looks like it is going to rain nerf.

Hey, long time no post and all but Hilt let me know that this is going down and I am excited! I would be able to make it on the 24th and 25 for sure (work management willing)
I personally kind of like the layout of college park and think it would be a sweet place to nerf.
