So for a while now ive been playing around with the idea of a sawn off double barreled shotgun. Independent firing, preferably on one trigger. Posted Image

the first idea i went through with the prototype, and wouldn't ya know, darts came out inconsistently. sometimes both fired well, sometimes one fired well and the other not so good, or sometimes only one fired and the other didn't. the seals were fine, and i think its really the slight differences in darts. because of the differences in this method, i scrapped that idea.

The second design works alot better, as i have also worked out something of a prototype for it. Because the two barrels each have their own piston and cylinder, power is always consistent. then both plungers are joined into one and extended out the rear of the gun, much like two nitefinders joined into one.

the biggest problems i have been having mostly revolve around trigger systems, and building the fram for the creation from scratch. Also, i would love to do a breech loaded design, like the double barrel buzz bee shotgun. however, just to keep it simple, muzzle loaded is fine.

You mean Jesus doesn't get you an extra 20 feet?
I blame insufficient praising of his name. If you don't cross yourself and point to the sky after every minor achievment how is a higher power supposed to know that you are pleased with his mad sacred game?-VACC

im trying to go around shells, but im also trying to get a gun thats actually decent. Those buzzbee shotguns suck. I know, ive tried a couple times with these. The plastic is pathetic. The power of the gun is pitiful. Since this is technically the homemade section of the site, i am going for a complete homebuilt type deal. So what i am asking is what do the people who dont mind considering the idea think of it? and if any of you have any ideas about it.

as for that, basic spring powered. I want it like most where you just pull the plunger rod straight out the back liek a night finder or lockn'load

I think that you should give up on the idea of the break open loading mech. This design doesn’t allow you to load one barrel when the other is primed. It would be easier and in my opinion more affective if you just created what seemed to be two different guns, but with a linked trigger. Something like two snaps, side by side with the triggers connected, but one trigger is more sensitive than the other so it fires first allowing you to have selective fire.

^Easier said than done. The difficulty lies in mounting the handle in a remotely ergonomic fashion. also, check out THIRST's PAS mod. Break-action is completely feasible.

You need to go get yourself banned. We don't do "give me everything I want NAO" threads here. You find it, or you make it, or you stay at HQ.

So what i am asking is what do the people who dont mind considering the idea think of it?

What do I think of it? I really don't see the point. Firing off two darts at once has minimal positives (dart spread), and brings along more negatives (added complexity/reload time/bulkiness). Really, from a Nerfing perspective, you're better off with one good, accurate shot (or a higher ROF), than trying to fire multiple darts at once. The added hassle just isn't worth it.

Get the best of both worlds and shove 2 darts down 1 barrel.

Split is 100% right in his assessment of this topic. We are not here to provide start to finish solutions to your every nerf contruction quandry. If you have a very specific question about something YOU are building, out with it. If you want to post pictures and start a discussion of your failed prototypes in search of suggestions for improvement, that also would be acceptible. This, however, is just looking for a custom made hand out.
