I just don't see how this is being framed as a problem. Pupular opinion on the forums has never meant very much when it comes to actually nerfing. And besides, the east coast is not a nerf hotbed by pure coincidence. Do you know where the Effeminateenter of east coast nerf is? Fucking. New. Jersey. You think the Dirty Jers' is a natural nerf tourist spot!? No, it's just where we've been throwing nerf wars for the past 10 years. Throw wars, and people will nerf. The method seems to be working pretty well for the California and Canadian nerf scenes too, each playing by their own sets of rules.Yes and no. There is merely a far greater population density on the east coast than the west. I am working on throwing my own, I assure you. I'm just saying that because there are more easties, you are able to have more wars, with more people, who are then more active in the community. But because of that, most of the noobs view easty rules as the accepted norm, instead of creating their own.

You see? I like VACC. He encourages people to do things.Wouldn't that be a greater indictment of you not throwing your own events? Nerf wars are not difficult to pull off. Have friends. Give them nerf guns. Make your own rules. I highly reccomend it.
So, I guess the next supply run includes hitting up the auto parts store.

how does it stand up to titan?
92% of teens have moved on to rap.

One thing that I would be concerned about is how much the shield resembles an actual ballistic shield. Generally things that resemble real firearms or things related to them shouldn't be used outdoors in a public park, where many nerf. Though you nerf in an office, which would make the shape of the shield fine.

Is resemblance to a ballistic shield some problem? I, for one, don't think it looks too much like a ballistic shield, and for two, don't know if there are any laws pertaining to their possession. I certainly don't think there are.

What a fun-killing idea. And this has nothing to do with foam projectiles.
If you don't want to be shot, then practice aiming, dodging, and utilizing your team members.
Using a shield other than a manta ray at a major Nerf War would just make you an annoying buzzkill.
Its hardly fun killing. Shield enabled games add another level of tactics to the game making it more interesting. Being only able to use mantas as shields makes no sense aside from imposing a stupid rule that limits the ability to use shields to old nerfers who bought a manta once upon a time or morons that pay 35+ bucks for one now. You could even take some of that modding skill you have and Build a new age manta out of polycarb as you love to do with other popular blasters.
Of course a full body shield would be WAY too much. But a little hand shield no more then 12"sq is not going to throw the whole game out of balance.

I payed 2.50 plus tax for my manta... And I'm 16... Not old, but I go to the thrift stores quite often. I actually do support this homemade shield although I probably won't be making one anytime soon. I don't think that everyone in a game should be using these shields but having some people in the front of the pack charging with them would make a game interesting. What a fun-killing idea. And this has nothing to do with foam projectiles.

Nice, simple and innovative, mod, good job man
Edit: I agree with Blacksunshine here, the shields incorporate a higher level of tactics to nerfing because its not just random potshots now but diversions and flanking and other strategies.

The standard rules we discussed are for standard deathmatch rounds. With those rules, shields don't work particularly well. If you want to use them at your wars, don't complain about it, just do it.

And how come you don't see my useful posts? I make a lot of them. If I had 270 posts like the above... Well, needless to say I wouldn't have 270 posts.
Anyway, on the on-topic note of these shields, I agree, VACC, that they can't be used in Deathmatch.
However, in special game variants, such as Siege (Explained previously) or Bomb the Base, it could prove to be a fun game element. Don't knock it till you try it, I guess. I'll definitely be attempting this when I have the funds to procure a foam tray like that. (Of course I'm broke! I'm only 14, so no one's willing to hire me, and I get no allowance. Lucky rich kids and their allowances...)

EDIT:
We only allow mantas because they were originally intended by Nerf to be shields, and that's just how we've always ruled on them, since they were first released.
Then why not strike fire shields? They seem like a reasonable size...

Isnt it the exact same thing to put a ballistic shield on your Vulcan? Downsized of course, but it can help while you have an emplacement set up.
In fact, it's the same thing that was posted here 10 months ago. Would you care for a 1 month suspension? Of course you would.

Very cool,i think in a war a group of less than 5 could use shields and try to defeat the rest of the other nerfers.
You're replying to my 31 day suspension of a necro poster, so you're getting 62 days off. I can count up to 9999. Feel free to test me.
