This topic looks like a n00b topic, I know (I'll post a writeup later) but I discovered something about the NF.

Today, I had decided to modify my new Nightfinder. I had recently almost run out of super glue (I had to use pliers previously). However, I have bad experiences with hot glue attaching a barrel (for example, the lower barrel of my double NF isn't powerful enough to shoot the dart completely out of the barrel). So, I decided to do something differently. I found a half CPVC coupler on my workbench and decided to use it. I wrapped it in E-tape until I had to hammer it into my NF plunger tube. I hammered it in, and it stayed put. I wrapped that in a layer of E-tape. Then I tried it out, and it worked beautifully. I can put my hand on the end of the barrel and it slows down the plunger. I would recommend this to a inexperienced modder with little modding supplies.

Sounds a lot like my NF mod from a while back. My brother did this with a CPVC coupler after I posted my write-up, but never without glue. Nicely done. Be careful though, you may notice over time that the coupler will either get punched out, or the e-tape will begin to telescope.

No, because the plunger ring is what stops it close to the end. If he hammers it to the same distance as the ring then it wouldn't matter, if I'm correct.

Not necessarily. The air restrictors in the Nitefinder fill some of the space on the front end. If you remove those restrictors, you can fill the space with the back end of a coupler.

Actually, the shell helps keep the coupler inside the plunger. Its hard to explain, just look at these pictures.

I understand, that's the same thing mine does. The shell kind of keeps it in, even when it teloscopes. You may want a ring of superglue when you get it that seals the e-tape to the plunger tube though. Just my recommendation.

I used to only ever use e tape for mods, mostly because I was scared of doing anything non-reversible. I really like your idea, it looks very clean, I would like to see some internal pics along with the write-up. I think I will recommend this to some of my friends who want to start modding but don't have any experience.

I'm not trying to take away this guy's mod, but if you'd like internal pics or a writeup, check out my mod. The only difference is that you replace the PETG with E-tape wrapped around the end with a CPVC coupler with E-tape wrapped around it. Also, I used superglue for my joint between the PETG/etape and the plunger tube. His just fit in snuggly. Again, not trying to bash his mod. I love that there have been other mods using a similar concept, because I personally really like the concept. It's quick, simple, and works well. But if you're looking for a writeup, check mine out. Here it is.

EDIT- oh****, correct me if I'm wrong, but ranges should be the same if not a bit more than other NF mods as long as the only difference is the barrel set up (i.e. spring, plunger head-plunger tube seal and other variables remain the same), due to the fact that there is little to no deadspace by using this method, being that the plunger head virtually almost hits the back of the dart.

This will not hold up in a war. MAYBE (that's a very big maybe) it would last you the day with just the stock spring.

I've done something similar with duct tape, but a bit different in that I didn't hammer in the coupler. It has sevred me many a war, and gets just barely below average NF ranges. I think may be due not to the setup, but to my messed up barrel. So this actually works very well, and definately will hold up to a day with a stock spring. It can hold up to a few months with a stronger spring.
