[Soothsayer]

So I recently came upon a broken SS SM5K for dirt cheap (about 10 bucks)

Well no sense in letting one of the most badass and comfortable shells go to waste, right?

I give you

Bella

(italian for beautiful/attractive)

For this write up:
AT2K Tank
AT3K Tank
Magstrike bladder
Magstrike pump
hornet/AT2K pump
Dremel
Pliers
Needle nose pliers
Hot glue gun
Super glue
goop
screwdrivers
vinyl tubing
vinyl tubing connectors
scissors
trigger wire
keyring
CPVC
PVC couplers
e-tape
duct tape
metal twist clamps
a pen head
paint brushes
acrylic paint
spray paint
clear coat

I'm probably missing some of the shit I used, but whatever.


First, open up your magstrike, unscrew the clamp holding the bladder in place, yank the bladder off, and take cut out this piece


put said piece back into bladder with super glue around the edge of one of the raised rings


Next, bust out the dremel and go to TOWN on the fake tank looking part of the SM5K




Get this set up goin' on with the tank, bladder, and pump, and the metal clamp around the ms bladder




dremel down the little plastic things in the back of the gun to make room for the tubing



Remember that detachable scope?


Pretty cool I guess....but

Lets throw a fucking AT3K tank in there!
Cut the very front of the scope off carefully, and dremel the inside to hell and back into your tank of choice fits



I ran an AT3K pump handle into the scope so my trigger wire had a nice path, and added a pen head so it would dangle


add a nice little handle to your pump handle


you can do whatever you want with the barrel system from here, personally I choose to use a PVC couple, so I can vary it up if need be

right now, CPVC breech system

now slap a bad ass paint job on there

Main gun:
15 pumps - 80-110ft (dart supply is very low right now, so that's the results vary so wide)

AT3K scope:
4 pumps - 60-70ft (I use a fairly short barrel on it)

Sorry if this is obvious, but do you get multiple shots off with one filling? I can't tell if you're just getting one mega shot, or you're pulling the trigger real quick so it all doesn't go out at once. If you can only get one shot off then the bladder seems a little pointless.

Except, I don't like the name. I don't see a Nerf gun as something bello. In fact any object shouldn't be called bello. IDK, maybe its because I only use the word bella when associating with girls and/or people, not objects. I am of Latino descent so yes, I know what I'm talking about. Just an opinion though, don't start a flame.

if I can't figure out a way to get 2 shots efficiently like dizzyducks "The Dragon", I'll most likely do that, or make a CPVC tank expansion instead.

Very nice! I really like the AT3K in the scope idea. Apart from that, a few suggestions:
I would replace the pump with a dual action bike pump like Ryan##### did. That way you would not have to pump it as much. I think you might have a leak or something because the ranges you are getting are standard AT2K ranges, you should be getting close to 100ft with as singled, plugged 2k, without the MS bladder. Cutting the MS bladder in half would, as perezinthenet said, keep your ranges and make it possible to achieve good pressure with (judging by how fast my dual action bike pump pumps my titan) 4 or 5 pumps. Hope this helps.

I'm fine with the MS pump for now. The actual barrel part of my main guns breech isn't too long, which is definitely accounting for the lack of range, that and I think that when the dart is leaving the barrel, a shit load of extra air is blowing out after it and fucking up it's flight path.

I'll probably get to cutting the bladder down today and lengthening the barrel today and posting the results.

I wanted to get multiple shots off, but I realized that I couldn't do it; the pressure from the bladder would keep the tank from closing shut and the increase in range from singling wasn't worth the extra pumps required to prime the bladder to capacity.

One solution would be to use the release valve from the Magstrike as an intermediary to control when the tank would be filled. It would allow multiple shots that way, and you wouldn't put nearly as much stress on the 2k tank when you fire it.

Also a check valve between the bladder and the tank would help.

if I get a hold of a MS release valve, I'll probably try this.

Try a pressure regulator from mcmaster. Just open a valve, then let a certain amount of air transfer, depending on the PSI settings of the regulator, then close the valve, and fire. Only problem I foresee would be getting the tank to a decent pressure with the bladder. Bladders expand rather than letting the PSI get up too high. You might have better luck with a PVC tank.

Whoops, I must have missed that. This makes a whole lot more sense now. If that's the case, do a PVC expansion on the tank, as close to the dump valve as possible with as wide a connection point as possible. Making it like that will make it require a not as big tank because of better flow, which will translate to less pumps for equal ranges.

TB- haha, alright, I'm glad I cleared that up. Yeah, I'll probably do something like that. I need to get a hold of an AT2K tank with the goo gauge on it, until then, I just made it so the main is JUST an AT2K tank
