I've seen a lot of nerfers making holsters and bandoleers for use with their nerf guns. Someone somewhere on the forums asked what type of materials people used to make their accessories. Some used PVC pipe, yarn, leather, etc. But there is one material that can do more than any of these (except for maybe leather), and that's duct tape. I have made several things out of duct tape, and as long as you have experience and know how to handle it, duct tape can be just as versatile and durable as anything else. Here's some examples:

The MOLLE-N (MOdular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment - Nerf) chest rig, modeled after military tactical equipment.


A closer look. All the pouches can come off. I've even had a nightfinder holster on it at one time.


A drop-leg holster for my Maverick (also with a MOLLE attachment for pouches, or a knife in this case). It would have been completely brown, but I ran out of brown duct tape. I'll get more later.




The pouches are made completely out of duct tape (except for the velcro of course)




Or if you dont want a chest rig, the pouches can come off and be put on a belt.


Even knives can be made of duct tape (of course I wouldn't use it at a nerf war, it's purely for looks)


Another plus is that duct tape is fairly cheap. $6 - $7 for a 66 yard roll of the stuff, professional grade. And it's everywhere: Walmart, K-mart, Target, Lowes, Home Depot...everywhere. The only other materials I used in these are velcro and a little bit of cardboard. All in all, the entire get-up couldn't have cost me any more than $25 - $30.

I wasn't quite sure where to put this; but since the 'Accessories Directory' is on the 'Modifications' page, I guess that's as good a place as any. Just giving you guys some ideas. Enjoy.

Nope, Pokechan, I don't have a write up for the knife. Sorry. I actually made it a few years ago. It's has a wire coathanger frame with multiple layers of cardboard and duct tape around it. As I said, it's not meant for nerfing, only for intimidation.

Do all the pouches carry only LS clips? Or can the covered ones carry loose darts too?

Nice work, but I don't find it worth the time or labor when I can just use an old tool belt. It is pretty cool though.

I don't really care for the look of silver duct tape but I do like it when people use colored duct tape.

If you go to JoAnns fabrics you can get Neon green, pink, orange, shiny silver, normal red, yellow and blue duct tape. I love it how me madre works there.

Nice. I have made mag pulls (google it) for my magazines, out of duct tape . You should make some for those LS magazines.

Nice job. I built a similar holster myself, but it didn't occur to me to use colored ductape to get that nice leather look. Maybe it's due for an extra layer.

Really like this. I personally like my air-soft holster more. I really like how it is like a carpenters belt where he keeps all of his tools. Nice work.

Yes ,atomatron, the closed pouches can hold extra darts. The extra darts for my Maverick are in the third pouch from the left. In fact they can hold just about anything you can shove in them, including...

grenades...sonic grenades.

Something I found at Firebox.com, but you can also get them here: http://www.1ofakinds...ic-Grenade.html. Basically they beep continuously (and loudly) until you replace the pin. They're pretty cool.

I've used Duck tape for many accessories, but none quite so elaborate. It really is nice to have clips and darts on easy access like that.

Nice work, that is a good alternative to putting darts in your pocket and having them squished.

How do you get duct tape inside the holster? I have trouble with that.

I know that when I do it, I wrap the tape, sticky side out, around the gun in the shape I want the holster to be. Then I cover the outside with more tape. (sticky side in of course.). Then you add tape to perfect the holster.

I'm not sure how goongala does it. That's just my technique.

Cool! I like the holsters and grenade. There also a website that shows you how to make a sonic grenade-www.imakeprojects.com I believe. Anyway, I've recently made a power switch for my green laser completely out of duct tape. It lets me remove the laser from the PVC case if I want to. The laser in one of those uber powerful ones where the actually beam is fully visible(scaring the piss out of people in the dark )

Yeah I use the same method (sticky out then sticky in) to make stuff. Thanks to this thread I whipped up a nice new holster for my recon (my side arm of choice).

And actually it is Duck Tape now. The company that makes it changed the name a few years back. It was never good for duct work anyway. Though I believe Duct tape would be the name most generic brands would use. I should be more observant when buying.

I actually measure out everything before I make it. I make duct tape fabric (which is two layers of duck tape, sticky side to sticky side) then put the CS-6 clips down and draw the outline with a sharpie. Then I cut and tape it into a pouch. If you have your measurements right, it should work perfectly. I'll have to make another one and do a write up, now that I have more duck tape.

The only problem I have with the sticky out then sticky in method, is that it tends to make a sloppy holster or pouch. It may work for someone else but I can't get it to cooperate.
