Before I gave Ice Nine my recon shell to make his behemoth, I (attempted) to make it at least indoor-primary worthy: CPVC rebreech, completely bored out AR, o-ring replacement, and an industrial stock spring. It hit somewhere between 60-70' on the first shot (given how we range test in our hallway, there's good eyeball potential based on previous shot and who's door it lands by). When I went to shoot a second shot and measure that, the boltsled disintegrated. Moreover, cocking the gun required taking both hands to the slider bar and leveraging the stock against my body. Certainly not practical in any case.

I understand you have your different views on this topic if the Recon is worth primary or not, but to me it is. All I'm asking for are some other reliable and worthy mods people.

What has been posted here is about all you are going to find. There are no really good, let alone decent and reliable, mods for the Recon. It truly is a piece of shit. In time, someone may come up with one, maybe even you, but until then, your best bet is to pick up one of the blasters that CrazyIvan listed. The only thing you should ignore, though you did it already, is stretching the spring. It is only a temporary increase in range. In time, the spring will revert back to its original length and your ranges will decrease to below stock ranges. Stretching a spring weakens it.

Also, you posted earlier and apologized about not knowing this site, but to be honest, using the search function is something that every site expects. There are no excuses.

Now give up on the Recon and get something else or come up with your own mod for the Recon and post it here,

I have an amazing paint job with tiger stripes turned camo design, 50-70 bucks in cash for anything mod-wise, a nack for Nerf, a creative mind, a full room of tools, a Recon with AR's removed, and 5 more mods I have in my mind......I AM going to do this no matter what anyone says. Maybe even get a second primary along the way.

Well then; good luck.

Notify us when you realse that either...
A ) We were all right and what you're attempting is practically impossible or
B ) completely confound everything people told you and create something that can rival a Longshot (like you want it to)

My bet's on A...

Prove me wrong.

If you could be interested in suggestions from someone who hasn't actually done what's being suggested, I recommend you search up and study the variations on "NiteMav" blasters, combining the basics of the Maverick with a decent plunger. Unfortunately "Nite Recon" in the search turns up nothing at all. You could change that.

I've seen folks combine air gun chambers with the Recon's shell, in fact I'm working on one myself. But that almost always means separate motions to pump up the chamber and to operate the breech.

I like the Recon for several reasons, not the least of which is that the big grip fits in my hands better than any other stock blaster. I'd love to see something built that respected the Recon design, while giving it a plunger system at least as good as a NiteFinder, to make something potentially worthy of being a war primary. But I've just got too many projects already on my bench. Come up with something interesting, and show the community that yours has a shot at working even halfway decently, and I'd bet many suggestions would arise to help you polish the design, and numerous copies would be made - all to your credit.

I'd recommend starting the easy (though not cheap) way - take a Recon and a NiteFinder ... and start cutting.

I have actually tried to put a Nite Recon together. The first attempt didn't turn out well at all. I went out an bought a Longshot.

I'm not saying the Recon is crap, it's just that it's Inverse Plunger Designed, and the way the spring is set up sort of limits what you can use.

I'm with slug,

The CS-6 is not really a functional gun.
And It might be wise to SEARCH mods that will get the attributes you are looking for then post.

I did, but what some people say about their mods differs from the real thing.....

The mods I am planning by the way are
pump action re-loading style
adding spring to the back of stock
brass breech
attaching an old pair of binoculars on the tac rail cause I'm too lazy to buy a LS scope
double clip
I just want opinions on the best method of these mods...for example the pump action grip I would like to attach has some 3 methods yet I know that there are better ones out there somewhere and I stil would like your opinions people. This goes for all the mods I would like to do. Also where can I buy a crossbow?

Aright, you seem to not want to let this one die, everyone here (the one's you've asked their opinions of )told you that it was in all likelihood a lost cause. You yourself have stated that your recon can get upwards of 60-70 feet. If that is true, then I would say that you've already solved your problem, and just need to give this a look over http://nerfhaven.com...?showtopic=7150 . It is a wonderful resource of compiled data, that FA24 no doubt put a lot of work into. In my experience the Recon is a great blaster, I've had tons of fun with all of mine (lets face it people they are quite pretty), but as far as primaries go, the only way that I've seen a Recon do this is by scraping the gun for it's spring, which is a wonderful accompaniment to the Longshot's spring.

That's just my two cents of this subject, now go get yourself a Longshot and Angel Breech it, and throw that recon spring in the plunger tube.

Where can I get the BBB or AT2k???

The BBB is available at Target for the most part. As for the AT2k, the only places I know that may have them for sale are Kohl's Department stores and Big Lots, at least around my area. I may even have a AT2k for sale, but I need to see.

Good luck with what you want to try with yours. If it works, then post it for all to see and be proven wrong, but if it doesn't, post it anyways. It can serve as a educational piece with maybe someone figuring out what you did and helping your ideas to come to fruition.

I posted a write-up for the recon a while back. Since then, the recon broke from have too much power. I do believe recons can hit good ranges, you just better reinforce that sucker to go to hell and back. A recon that meets the expectations just... well it's doable, just not practical. You would need a vast amount of resources, those of which only slug and few others have. Just buy a longshot and angel breech it, getting a recon to get similar ranges just isn't worth the time and effort, trust us.

Honestly, he doesn't know what to Google.

Everyone has said 'BBB.'

You go Google that query and tell me if you find what you're looking for.

The BBB is the Big Bad Bow, formerly purple, its new version is red, and it resembles a compound bow that shoots large arrows.

At2k stands for Air Tech 2000. It's a small red gun with 4 barrels.

Do you EVER take a chance to look inside the mod directory?! Here's the link for the 1,000,000 time.

Look for a mod for a BBB and you will find your answer.

I'm not going to lie. You are pretty retarded. If you'll read my last post, you'll get your answer.

However, it is a very simple mod, that can be done without opening the gun.

I finally got 80ft out of a recon. It involved a piece of a spring stronger than a plusbow spring, a 17/32nd brass breech replacement, and using my whole body weight to cock it. I'm also amazed that the catch survived. I immediatly went back to my standard 35ft firing version.

EDIT: I forgot to mention the 15mph tailwind.

Don't be a retard about the recon. It's a sidearm, and that's it.

A nite recon might not be plausible while still retaining the slide cocker due to the nature of guns like the nite finder in the first place. My idea would be to simply increase the size of the plunger itself. If anyone could give me some tips on what to make reversed plunger tubes out of, it would be appreciated.

Has anyone even the longshot as an example? Just use the barrel to push the nitefinder plunger back.

My Nite Recon was very similar to it. I used the breech to push back the NF plunger, which still allowed you to have the magazine loading, but with the power of a NF, all in one fluid motion. However, it was one of the first mods I attempted, and all my seals were horrible and done poorly.

The most difficult thing was making a trigger. The only place you could really put the catch for the NF plunger was where the black Recon endcap went. I'm very bad at designing triggers, so it was partially coming out of the handle, and didn't work too well.

I imagine even if it was designed well, it would still require a new breech. That's where the Recon lacks, is a decent length barrel. So even if you found some sort of industrial spring to fit in it, the power would be wasted as soon as the dart leaves it's non-existent barrel.

However, I think we can just let this thread die. It's getting more into speculation now. If someone wants to attempt a Nite Recon, PM me, and I'll send you my pictures on the idea and what my idea was. I'd be happy if someone could make the recon a decent gun.

Hey dude, all you have to do to do a shotgun mod on a recon is take two sticks of pvc or something and hot glue them or epoxy them onto the cocking mechanism, but put them as low as possible and facing foward and get a comforatable grip and sick it on between the two bars and your done. It's really simple honestly.
