No pictures because the toys are technically being unvieled at the toy faire in New York within a matter of months. So therefore, they didn't mind showing it to two people, but it was made very clear that we could not take pictures. Hell, I'm kinda surprised they let us talk about it.

Mal usually makes it to the toy fair and sends pictures. Hopefully he'll get some out to us again this year.

OMC and Talio, you guys rock. Thanks for all the info!

Seriously you guys, thanks for doing all that and reporting it back so well. I am so envious that you got to see their secret lair. Looks like Nerf is and always was the great company that we knew it was, it just had some rough times. I think it's going to make a comback, big time. This top cocking gun seems very interesting, does it remind you of the way a real pistol cocks? The hornet sounds awesome, and I'm sure the bazooka will be fun to play with. Who knows, maybe we will be able to modify it? You two just made my day, but you seriously have to tell us what gun they're releasing.

One new gun er blaster set (and an exclusive re-release) does not a line make.
I was under the impression that nerf lines are usually at full force in spring when kids can go out and play. Last fall we saw the nite finder, the TT set, and a couple of ball guns. This fall promises just a single product??? Something just doesn't add up to me.

There was talk about a winter/spring lineup for the new year but that was just a rumor. Still I'm skeptical to believe that a single set would be all that will be released this year.

Oh yeah those are kick ass sweaters with the old school nerf logo.

Yeah the pistol cocks like a "real" gun if you wish to call it that. It's not bad, but it's just a clone of the other pistols they put out. The Bazooka really is worthless. You have to pump it like a bike pump, hold it with your feet and pump it up and down. So it's not spectacular. The hornet really looks like it has potential, but we'll have to see. The price sucks. And that's all there is too it.

Nitefinder, stock darts, and those shirts and a sweatshirt that you saw in the picks, and what they wore at gnomefest.

Not only is this cool, but it shows that Nerf is not dying! It's very much alive!

Also, it boosts our community. With these new guns, and Hasbro thriving, the future is looking great!

DVD sounds like a cool idea. How does it register the shots on a tv screen?
Can it work with any gun?

They said that there are electronics in the gun that let things register, I'm not sure how it works but I'd imagine it would be like a battery powered NES light gun that would keep score on the gun itself.

I didn't really catch EXACTLY how the game works mechanically. However I know there are ways to activate Heat sensor mode and Night Vision mode with the Hornet. The Hornet is really the heart and soul of the game, b/c it will most likely be used the most. The Bazooka is not used for the game much if at all, its really just a gimmicky item. There are also built in mechanisms to stop cheaters. The game keeps score.

I completely forgot to mention the name of everything. The whole line is called the N-Stryke line. The DVD engages you to become a "stryker" ala Halo and blast away the evil robot enemies. It's a really well executed piece even if we only saw like a 30 sec clip. I wish I could remeber the name of the large bazooka weapon, its pissing me off that I can't.

They really weren't supposed to give us much info on the DVD, but they started talking about it, and the one marketing guy just went ape shit with details.

Ok there is no official tracking system. Therefore the DVD itself will not register the hits. What happens, is you go through a halo like mission, and it goes matrix bullet time, and hones in on a target. You then shoot the screen. At the end of the mission, the screen goes blank, and a marker comes up where the targets were throughout the mission. If there is a dart stuck to the spot, you hit the target. You then enter the number and the DVD does some more crap. The anti cheating thing, is that some of the targets are impossible to hit. So therefore if it comes out that you hit everyone, the DVD will make you do the mission over. So there you have it. AND STOP FUCKING BUGGING ME ABOUT THE RE-RELEASE!

If you weren't smart enough to put two and two together, it's the fucking Powerclip. Not like we didn't paint a vivid picture. So to the TEN people who Imed me this afternoon begging, give it a rest, you know now.

It sucks that all the guns come in one set. Is hooking the hornet up to the bazooka the only way to prime it? If it is I bet we could hook up a pump to make it mobile.

We should all email Nerf and tell them to maybe put out a large spring gun or submit designs to them. Maybe they'll start to release really good guns (though this line is a good start) and possibly, dare I say, a remake Xbow.

Jesus, does ANYONE read.....

The Hornet is primed attached to the Bazooka or by itself. I pumps like the BF, it practically IS a friggin Blastfire. IT ALREADY IS MOBILE. I don't know how many times we have to say it but the blasters are used seperatley OR together.

DO NOT bother wasting your time emailing nerf. They are inundated (sp?) as it is with calls from customers. Make your own site and post your ideas (or do it here) and designs. This way we ALL can see them and the folks at Hasbro are CLEARLY intelligent enough to find this site, they might as well find others.

You know what, I am not even going to say anything about your remake a crossbow statement, just read what Talio or I have written already. Sane, learn from this. EVERYONE learn from this.

To Grinch, its also coming in the Fall.

I could care less how weak or strong it is, I just want a spring gun rifle, shaped like a tornado or Xbow type design, ya know?

Well, were not getting on ethis line. Were getting a spring pistol, but not a spring rifle. The Hornet is the closest were going to get to a rifle(if you see the bazzoka not as a rifle that is).

Personally I think they should go back to the arrow-shooting guns for the kids. Not because we could PVC it and shoot someone's eye out from 100' away, but because those were the guns I grew up on. Forget modibility, stuff like the arrowstorm and bow n' arrow and the ballzooka were fun.

I also mentioned the arrow thing. And for some reason, they say they can't do it anymore. I didn't get it, maybe Hersh got it.

The x bow will never be released again. The designers never even saw a crossbow untill I showed them mine. I'm very happy to say, the crossbow will remain the legend it is.

The arrow thing I think jsut relates to the discussion we had about how hard foam is to work with. Also, yes the crossbow will probably never see the light of day again, but you never know. Just don't expect it anytime soon. At the same time, don't get your hopes up.

However the more I think about it, the funnier it would be if they did release it, and even this year. That would be the greatest move in history. Totally squashing our hopes then, bang there it is. (Yea ok, so not happening)

But think about it, half of these kids who friggin cream themselves over the chance of hasbro re-releasing the x-bow probably won't want one after everyone owns about ten of them.
