+Got validated after 3 days (Do the admins know me or something?)
+Modding my first guns (NF, Longshot, AT2K, AT3K modding today)
+Getting a PS3
+All the funny posts
+Being able to hang out with my friends
+Finding an AT3K twin pack 3 days ago for $7.00! (Returned gift, saw wrapping paper on back)
Bads:
-Having a friend take my AT3K and shoot me in the face, not knowing it was loaded
-School starting
-Burning myself making stefans about..... 32 times
Other than the bad parts, it was a good year!
Poke
P.S.- Modding my AT3K today, write up tonight.

-Getting into modding
-Getting validated
-Finding Nerfhaven through Ice
-YT account
Low
-The first time modding I threw away a whole nitefinder with everything inside of it just for the o-ring from Watching ice's video. (I know that was very dumb, but I had absolutely no idea there was more than that).
-Screwing up 6 pistols just to make 3 better
-Missing the only war I would've been able to make, after my birthday.
-Having my youtube account with no videos.
Oh and seriously, where is silentsnipe in all of this?

+Seeing Ohio becoming a more viable nerfing location (thanks to Cincinnati)
+23 man turnout at the Winter war I helped host
+Team 3K during the summer Ohio war (Me, Twitch, Bpso's brother, Bpso)
+HVZ 2008 at Ohio University
+Snagging a clear mav for xmas thanks to my girlfriend
+Some awesome new members (rork, herticorp, splitlip)
+Not nerfing related, but I backpacked home from college over spring break and it was definitely a highlight of the year. link
Lowlights
-Only making it to two wars. I've got better transportation (i.e. a car) now, so I'm pumped
-The fact that we still haven't seen a writeup for this. rork is a tease indeed.
I nerf like a four year old.

Fuck everything else.
In all seriousness though, I'm going to let this go for a few days and then I'm going to close it. I don't want to be reading last years highlights in the middle of February. So get it out of your system now.

- HvZ @ conn coll was wicked twice this year, half my House played in the fall.
- Effeminate battles with zombies - they actually cut the power in Park House to lure humans out of their rooms. Hallway battles in Morrison, Branford, sieges of Lazarus, Cro, Fanning Hall, and Harris were no less intense.
- Realizing the potential of HvZ players to form a real group with regular wars.
- Co-hosting an awesome war in the state of Connecticut, something not done for as long as I can remember.
- Becoming one with the Maxshot and killing more proficiently than ever before.
- Gem shot of the year: A seemingly impossible arced shot fired from the top of a cliff that cleared the entire ravine and hit my target in the hair on the opposite hill.
- 4 wars in a 3 week period.
- Hallways, stairwells, stone ruins, sheer cliffs, open fields, dense forests, light forests, rocky forests, 2008 had more terrain variety than ever before.
- Meeting cool new people on the field of battle in 4 states, from New London CT to Coplay PA.
- Target practice on Echnalaid at BCNO.
- The double playground battle at BCNO was wicked while it lasted.
- Apoc having huge turnout for the 2nd year in a row - it's grown more than 3fold since my first one.
- ORANGE TAPE - 'nuff said.
- Keefer's storied and dramatic personal life.
- Dave's antics at ECNO, especially the craps between nearly every round.
- NO BEES showed up at BFNYII.
- Nightshift's got the best Outpost game around.
- Community-wide advances in modding and homemades.
- New members stepping up and promoting the hobby.
Cons? Fuck 'em!
Aims for 2009:
- Build up Conn's nerfing base - currently around 15, but potentially over 50 people who already like to play, but don't know there's organized wars.
- Host regularly out of New London and convert Connecticut from a backwater to a hot spot.
- Get a car in order to attend more wars further away.
United Nerf Ops - The premier northeast US nerf club serving the tristate area (NY, NJ, CT)
NYC Nerf Ops - Nerf in New York City itself
NJ Nerf Ops - Nerf in New Jersey
CT Nerf Ops - Nerf in Connecticut
UNO also has a Discord server, DM me on Discord to join (@vincentdrake)

+Not to be a kiss-ass, but great admin work. Vacc's horrifying way around the English language, Talio's return, and Groove's LOLcats in particular.
+Made it to SENO, in spite of truly ridiculous MapQuest difficulties.
+Making some cool stuff that contributed to...
+The Great '08 Homemade Renaissance.
+Lots of great stuff at SENO. This shit really is fun.
+Finding a pocket of intelligence in the wasteland that is the Internet.
+Hunting Man.
+Corresponding/dealing with some interesting folks.
All in all, it's been fun, but next year will be better. I see a good deal more war attendance in my future. Also: the REBAR writeup should be up this week, to bring in the new year with a bang.

Pros:
-Attending my first nerf war.
-Hosting 3 wars and attending 6 total.
-Attending the biggest war yet in Minnesota.
-Meeting many Midwest vets in person, including Carbon, Flaming Hilt, Sam, Carrtoon, Elf Avec Gun, and Ryan McNumbers. You guys rock!
-Meeting younger/newer MN people.
-Making fun of Bullshit Dragon constantly. Online and at wars, no matter where he goes he will get shit.
-Getting my friends into nerf.
-BustaNinja's constant sexual humor at wars.
-Owning and causing great pain at the same time at SPANO.
-Getting an Ultimator for $3 and plenty of other amazing deals at thrift stores.
-Getting a shit load of guns for cheap all year long.
-Improving my modding skills and understanding of nerf guns greatly.
-Awesome new people on the forum like Splitlip and Rork.
-Becoming "the nerf gun kid" at the ACE I go to.
-Recently spending 6+ hours cleaning and organizing all the nerf stuff in my room. I call it an "Organizing Overhaul". It was worth while, because even if it does get messy again I will have a great organization system ready to go.
Cons:
-Getting hit by a car on my bike when I was going to the hardware store to buy modding materials. I was almost there too. I was completely fine though, just scraped a bit, but my bike got a bit messed up.
-My parents hating nerf. It took me all year to learn that if I clean up my shit and don't spend much on nerf related things they won't hate it quite as much.

First round, First shot, hitting Talio in the face. Then later that same round hitting him in the lip. Bringing closure to a 2 year old Vendetta. Only to realize he is a cool guy in person. He is also a Giant, like me. So there is also respect there.
Shooting Keef in the teeth.
Organizing Massacre.
APOC 08

Pros:
-Many awesome contributors to the Haven (Angel, Slug, Rork, Hereticorp, many others)
-Being more active on the forums
-Making money by painting guns
-Getting a +bow
-Getting an increasing number of people involved with nerf at school
Cons:
-+bow falling apart on me
-Residence Life cracking down on nerf in the dorms
-Not being able to make it to any NIC-sanctioned wars (MN and Canada beckon me)

Admins
Some great new members (SplitLip and Hereticorp, for example)
Awesome modifications
I built a fucking Doomsayer!
All my little 4-person wars being AWESOME
All the possitive feedback I got from the MT
A shitload of other mods being successful
Finally switching to Stefans
Cons:
The MT springing a few leaks... and my usual extreme bad luck with airguns
A few of my primaries breaking multiple times before I discovered some better epoxies
Severe Insomnia
Probably dead by now, or something.

Pros: My first year in nerf really, and it was awesome.
-Attending HbH2.
- Amassing close to 20 guns.
- Posting a few write ups that got into the directory.
- Aquiring 2 xbows, only one of which I still have.
- The admins on this site, they do a great job.
- The new members who contribute great stuff- you know who you are.
Cons:
- Not being able to attend Massacre1 or WCNO (I believe it's happening as I type)
- Breaking Blink182's SM5000 at HbH2.
- Screwing up my doomsayer replica.
- Spending a shit ton on nerf/modding materials.
- Not finding as single nerf gun at thrift stores.
- Haven wise, the new members who do not contribute and are a pain in the ass- yes silentsnipe comes to mind.
It's just screaming to be rearloading...
I seen a movie about that once.

Yeah, the "Snow blowing" crack and Bullshit was pretty funny.
Remember the trash can cover at the last war? You know that was awesome.

Whats with all the hate on new guys? I was a newbie here once too.
I love to see new blood. It's a sign that our hobby is growing.
I swear it fucking kills me when I see threads like "Nobody Nerfs around me and I am too lazy to hatch my own Clan" Yet I see those same people be like "I hate fucking newbs"
Wake up and smell the closed cell polyethylene people!

EDIT:
Almost forgot another golden one.
My Msn messenger/Facebook title name read: 10 days until Hell. Then 9 days until Hell. Then 8 days, well you get the picture.
On my 5th day till the war, a friend I had not seen in a while sent me a message. "Dude are you ok? If your depressed we can talk." I said I was fine and I thought that was the end of it.
Then when I got down to 3 days and 2 days I started getting a lot of these types of messages from other people I know. Friends, Family etc. The whole time I am thinking: What the fuck is with all of this. I understand that I am busy but why would people think I am depressed. Then it finally hit me. All these people that were contacting me had no idea about the Nerf war. They thought I was having some kind of count down to suicide or something.
As soon as it hit me I laughed and laughed and laughed. I had been so busy organizing the war, I had no idea how other people might perceive my status on facebook/msn.

Well, 2008 is over, bringing an end to another great year of Nerf. What do you think were the highest, lowest, and most notable points of the year, personally and on a large scale?
Highest:
-The Lancer
-The great noob influx II: Return of the Noobs
-Some great new members
-Strengthening my friendships with other Nerfers.
-Making my first transctions through NH.
-Some great new members(rork, jsb, Aside, Foamfoot, Radio, Splitlip, etc)
-The growth of FoamUniverse.
Lowlights:
-The great noob influx.
-Silentsnipe
Just out of curiousity, why does everyone hate Silentsnope?

-Release of the Vulcan
-Getting over 200 subscribers to my youtube channel (not exactly nerf related, but I'm excited)
-Getting over 50,000 views on my vulcan commercial
-Getting a SM3K at a yard sale for 2 bucks
-Expanding my arsenal a LOT.
It was a good year.
