As far as a jukebox software, I find foobar2000 to be vastly superior to anything.

I agree whole-heatedly - foobar is my primary music player/manager. But I hesitate to recommend it to people, since the interface is so hostile to new users. It takes a long time to learn the ropes, and most people do not have the patience.

It is a Gateway laptop with a built in webcam with the newest version of vista hope that helps!

Oh, i would suggest dual booting it with XP on one partition and Vista on the other, but reinstall vista right away.

What purpose does dual-booting XP and Vista serve?

Well, DX10, XP only games and a more stable OS, plus something to mess around with when you are bored. Rainbow Six Vegas crashes on Vista.

Also, kinda on topic, I'm replacing my graphics card/ motherboard/ RAM/ case cuz shits blowin up. Also future-proofing.

For general security: Norton. I don't recommend any sort of McAfee, it is annoying and very ineffective.

For anti-rootkits/anti-virus: I agree that AVG is very good and I also recommend PANDA anti-rootkit.

For anti-spyware: SUPERAntiSpyware, they have a free version on their site which is very effective and is updated frequently.

For a web browser: Mozilla Firefox, it is ten times better than Internet Exploder (misspelling intended), even Internet Exploder 7, in my opinion. I've tried Google Chrome and it's good too, but Mozilla is always a solid option.

It may seem obvious, but I'm going to say it anyways, defragment your drives often.
