Hands down, the best looking snap I've seen.

Regardless, anything that stops kids from dropping $250 on a crossbow is a step in the right direction I guess.

Paradoxically, though, I can't picture the kind of person who would drop $250 for a X-bow having the fortitude to build this. Homemades tend to require things like patience, creativity, and intelligence; by paying a ridiculous amount for a plastic toy, noobs demonstrate their lack of such attributes. X-bow ownership has become a status symbol, in way too many cases.

As for crossbows, they have long since ceased to be a status symbol recognized by anyone with whom one might want to share status. Anyone who still believes otherwise probably has a parent that is $250 poorer right now.

Of course. I didn't say they were a VALID status symbol; they are a status symbol recognized among noobs by other noobs.

I would guess that about half of the +bow owners built theirs, and about 90% of snap owners built theirs.

It's crazy that people would actually be willing to cough up $250 for a gun with similar or lesser performance to cheaper, more readily available guns. The Crossbow is a great gun, but in the wrong hands is useless, and in the masses, is meaningless. Having a Crossbow will not make you great. Only achieving greatness will make you great.

I would say that a self designed homemade, or a mod you came up with yourself is really the only status symbol that means anything, because it means you have the brain capacity to design such things, and took a risk of wasting money, or destroying a nerf gun to accomplish it.

If I ever see a crossbow in a thrift store, I will snatch it up, but I will never snatch up one on eBay for $250.

To answer all your questions and shed some light, the only people who recognize the Crossbow as a valid symbol don't Nerf. At Minnesota wars atleast, people refer to NerfCrazy as "Crossbow" because thats his primary. He likes it, its a good gun, but its not the best. At the time when they were as loved as that, they WERE the best. Not anymore.

Wait... did I just get a VACC seal of approval? Or atleast a VACC seal of "hey, that didn't completely suck"? I feel amazing.

About 70% of people with +bows buy them for about the same price as a Crossbow. About 30% of SNAP owners purchase theirs, and then promptly attempt their own.

And yeah, a mod or a home made will get you alot more credit then a Crossbow. Look. Carbon, FA24, Boltsniper, 3DBBQ and all the other greats, do they use Crossbows? FA owns one, but he doesn't use it. Carbon is the king of cheap home mades. Boltsniper, the genius behind the SCAR-N and the FAR. 3DBBQ, the Korean who perfected cheap air guns. A Crossbow could do none of that.

Look, even OMC decided to SELL his. Thats because (from what I hear) he is more known for his Nerfing and baddassery then a gun. A gun does not make someone great. Noobs gotta shut up.

Anyway, glad people like my gun. I've gotten alot of positive feedback. I will try to get a writeup done sometime, complete. Thanks again. I hope I can fix anything that needs fixing. I like this community because they can point stuff out.

Wait, did you ever tell me what spring setup you have? Because I just bought some aluminum rod, and I don't want to use an ACE #62 (or whatever that one is) for power reasons.

Ok, the ACE #62 isn't a good spring for SNAPs. Its too powerful, and has a much smaller length. For guns, you want a longer spring, with a high compression. I have 3 ACE #49 springs in it, an idea that Venom sent me, but i claim because he broke his SNAP. Just kidding, it was Venom's idea. It gives a good compression, while being easier to pull then the one #62, and better ranges. Good spring setup there.

Not at all. I thought about that too. Just make a shorter trigger pin.

You need to make them better. It pisses me off how much time you put into them, only have them break. Seriously, your SNAP's don't look pretty, so stop trying to make them pretty and just get them to work. Put some Zip ties on it, of a hose clamp or two. Just make em strong.

In the pictures, that thing appears sturdy enough to be run over by a car multiple times without damage. Good work.

I hate to admit to dropping it as much as I have. It should be something a treat with care. Not carelessly drop it, but sadly, I have. About all that happens is the barrel pops out... Not anything breaking for anything at all. Im really surprised how strong it is.

I had someone email me this question, and I don't want to answer it twice so here goes.

The top and bottom are made out of 1 1/4th inch PVC, and my handle is 1 inch PVC with 3/4ths on the side, put together the way Carbon did it, then I added some basswood on the open areas and sanded it down.

Wow, finally a home made I want to build:-) looks hell a lot more comfortable than the +bow. You should definitely make a write up of that for everyone. A couple of questions: for someone who has never made a home made gun before, is this difficult? How much do the supplies cost?
