So if I expanded an AT2K tank to the size of a SM5K tank it wouldnt get the same ranges?
Nope, different air release speed.

I didn't happen to have any on hand when I did it. If I ever redo it plumbers goop is going on.you should of totally of used plumbers goop over the hot glue.
Trust me, you WILL be doing this over again, not because it's bad or anything, but I had to redo my YSMANL (3k and bbbb integ, in the directory) and it was mainly the hot glue. You're gonna end up doing it over again about every 50 shots (depending on how long air stays in the tank, and how much you pump it)

Bigger would be better. But you could use all sorts of CPVC adaptors to make it more versitable

Good idea.
The black thing creates a seal from the At2k original tank to your new tank. From what I understand from the feedback I've received, you can create a bigger hole than my small hole, but I haven't experimented with them yet.

I lubed it again and again, I don't see what an extra 2 centimeters does. I don't think I will cut it off.

would the ranges even be close? So if I expanded an AT2K tank to the size of a SM5K tank it wouldnt get the same ranges?

If that was the only mod you did to the AT2K, no the ranges wouldn't even be close.would the ranges even be close? So if I expanded an AT2K tank to the size of a SM5K tank it wouldnt get the same ranges?

I do have 2 stock ones, so I will most likely try this. I can't on my primary 2k as it is RSCB'd but the others, why not. It seems to work. Excellent job.
It's just screaming to be rearloading...
I seen a movie about that once.

By "Replace" he means that you have to put the black thing back in or the Googauge will leak. What do you replace the black thing with?
to the mod, damn, I wish you'd done this before I lopped the Googauge off of my 2k, looks neat if a bit bulky.

First, the black membrane. The liquitron gauge is separated from the air tank with this membrane. It allows the pressure of the tank to transfer into the gauge, making the goo in the gauge rise when the pressure increases, and making the bubble of air denser, and thus smaller. When you break this seal and drain the goo, you increase the guns air capacity, but the air still needs to flow through the relatively narrow channel in between the gauge and the air tank to get to the barrel, which may reduce the air flow enough to prevent the extra air from the expansion tank to get to the dart fast enough to increase the force applied to the dart.
Second, the effect of an expanded tank. Lets say you could put a cpvc pipe directly in the main air tank of the at2k, so you don't have to worry about reduced air flow. If you keep the same barrel length, there will only be a small increase in range because a larger tank at the same pressure will depressurize more slowly, so the pressure will be slightly higher when the dart reaches the end of the barrel. If you want a substantial range increase, you need the increase the length of your barrel. If you increase the barrel length, you can utilize the additional air in the tank to apply force to the dart over a longer period of time. The longer force is applied to the dart, the more it accelerates, and the farther it goes.
(btw, as long as the mass of the dart remains constant, the velocity of a dart, the distance it travels, and the force it imparts when it hits a target are all proportional to each other. So a gun can't have better range with less velocity. You can't fire a dart faster without it traveling farther and hitting harder. If you suspect that this has happened, you're darts have more or less drag, or greater or less mass.)
You can poop in my toilet anytime champ.

(btw, just another constant to throw in with your proportional explanation: atmosphere. As atmosphere decreases and initial velocity remains constant, the projectile travels further...NERF IN THE ROCKIES!!!).

Thats why all my guns are incredible!
No really though, I can get 120 out of my splitfire. It's nice living in the mountains. Except our nerf season is incredibly random, makes planning wars very difficult.
Colorado is known for its insane weather changes. It can go from 80 to 30 and snowing in an hour.
It can rain incredibly hard for half an hour and then be 90 for the rest of the day. The wind can pick up and ruin any chance of nerfing whatsoever (like it is now )
Probably the most insane weather change I have experienced here was a day when it was 90 degrees and we were at the pool when it started hailing golf ball size hailstones denting cars, breaking windows, and causing concussions.
Many a day at the pool is interrupted by snow, hail, sleet, or rain.
But our darts fly farther, so ha!
I, too "have recon," as they say. I get him in old country. Then I realize he sucks like bog. So I trade him for potato.

Why thanks for the useless post.
On topic: You do need to cut a hole in the center of the black thing if you do this right? Cause I forgot and want to know if I need to.

My post was completely relevant to the topic at hand, substantial proof that what soulman said is entirely true.
Please do not be so quick to attack others, especially when you are ignorant to the reasons behind their actions or the intended outcome.
Now back to tank expansions! I wanted some ranges on this, some substantial testing that proved it was worth doing anything.

Well I'd like to hear some ranges of one withe a good barrel on it and a plugged pump.Yeah singled, no pump plugged, and a 4 inch PETG barrel. As you can see with a longer barrel, and a plugged pump you could get significantly better ranges.

I don't recommend plugging that pump. Too much power with a plugged pump is not good. What do you mean by good barrel? Like brass?
