The green part is the glowstick, the black stuff is tape, the red is foam sheet used for zeros, the light grey is either foam sheet roled up or backer rod or some other manner of foam, the blob of green is Glow-In-The-Dark hot glue, and the dark grey is a weight.

Whala. Safe, but somewhat expensive and heavy glow in the dark zero.

I have the electric eel. It was fun while it lasted but I modded it after the clip broke and the light busted. The tape on the megas worked extremely well in the dark.

Ok, I took sporkboy's advice and took pictures of the darts with a 15 second exposure. And they came out sweet. This is what I've been trying to get up for you guys so you can get an idea of the Tracer dart. So I just slowly passed a dart toard the camera so you could see the glow. One of the pictures I have the darts in a cluster. This is basically how the darts would start out of the barrel in a shotgun effect. The other picture is the darts split up and that's basically what the PowerClip would do. Hope you enjoy the pics!.....Once again, Copy and paste the links

no offense to anyone... but is a glow in the dark dart that hard????
just spray it with glow in the dark paint!!!
that stuff is cheap ass... lasts for ages and look sweet...

It's all about barrel friction. If you have spray paint on your darts, they are rough, and won't fly out your barrel as easily if it were a normal dart.

then why not just paint the front and back of the dar??? they dont come into contact with the barrel. having just the front glowing is essentially what ure doin at the moment

Not a bad idea. The lighter weight BBs I don't know about, but .25 would work great. <looks at drawer of various weight bbs>

Now glowsticks are possible. I saw some glowsticks for sale inside of a "prize machine" inside of a walmart. Very small and lasted about 10 hours. Glowed pretty bright too.

I don't think I would use a pump rifle or a cocking gun with them, but automatics with "glow-darts" would be awfully nice.

Have you even *tried* to test what you're saying before you said it? Or even read the thread? I don't mean to flame, but you probably haven't done either.

Glow in the dark paint isn't cheaper then the BB's. Glow in the dark paint can come off when used a lot. BB's probably give off more because of the effect you get when you put a light at the side of plexi/glass or in this case, hot glue.

Have you even *tried* to test your theories? Well, I have. I've made both kind of tracer darts: Ones with glow bb's & glue and ones with glue and glow in the dark paint(which was purchased at hobbytown U.S.A) The dart with the glow bb does not go very far and has a little glow. The one with the paint on it and the fishing wieght goes further, has more accuracy, and glows 3 times brighter. Also, the paint shouldn't wear off as fast as you think it would.

I'll tell you now, it's very poor quality, but you can get a sense of how these darts look. Well, for who is ever still interested in the tracer dart (by the way, this is the new tracer dart. It uses glow in the dark paint instead of a glow in the dark bb.), here's a short clip of the little guys in action. Copy and paste the linkage. Comments?

hate to say it... but i told u so... and the glow in the dark paint i was talkin about i guess is diff to urs... i am from aus and for bout 2 bux i got a tube of paint like stuff that turn out like hot glue when dried and lasts about 3 hours... it rules i have made lotsa darts wit it b4 and i have no friction probs when i put it just on the tips

I didn't use a gun, I did it all by hand. Right now I only have a digital camera to film. It's not sensitive enough to pick up the darts being launched out of my PC. But the darts are sweet at night, and I highly recommend it to all of you people that nerf in hte dark.

Is the camera one of those digital cams that you can also record almost a minute worth of footage on? Did you paint end of the dart or the entire dart, and what paint was it?

I can take about 20 seconds of footage. I painted only the tips of the darts and charged them under a lamp. The bottle of glow paint was $4.99. The bottle is one inch in diameter and is about 1 1/4 inch high. I dipped the tips of the darts in the bottle rather than painting it on with a brush. By doing this, I get a thicker coat of paint. I think the bottle will last a while.
