I may get flamed for this but someone had to say it. Everyday when I log onto nerfhaven and click view new posts I expect to see some new sort of mod or new gun. Instead i'm seeing "What's your favorite movie?"; "What's your favorite food?". Now don't get me wrong i'm not directing this to anyone personally, but I see this everyday. They're also always based on the same thing, like if I saw a poll on differences with a gun i'd understand but pizza, ice-cream? C'mon guys.

Yes, I understand that but that's not what i'm trying to say. People keep asking the same thing over and over again. Why doesn't someone just ask "What's your favorite eating establishment?" instead of "What's your favorite pizza place"?; "What's your favorite ice-cream parlor?".

You have to keep in mind, there are a lot of new members now. Like 2000 more than there were just 3 months ago. They don't know the site. They have'nt been here long enough to see all of the old topics like the ones they post and say to themselves, "hey, there is another one just like this. maybe I should'nt post this?" Here's a quote from Ompa that kind of temporarily solves the problem:

While having discussions on differences with a gun is a good idea in theory, formal discussion usually breaks down after assorted children find the thread and pack in 20 comments saying "OMG this gun is SO SICK!". After that VACC, CSlug, Groove, or OMC usually come in, point out how juvenile everyone is acting and why the gun makes no sense in any real war situation. Finally the thread is closed.

Honestly I have no trouble with random polls, or opinion pieces. If I want mods I go to the mods section, if I want homemades I go to the homemade section. If I want pointless discussions about who's dildo has more lights and fancy colours I come to this section.

On another note it's hard for juvenile people to ruin a pizza or ice cream thread, since practically everyone likes pepperoni and chocolate respectively.

That may be true but to be honest, as soon as I joined I made my first post and got flamed. Right after that I took myself to read the CoC. All of the new members have been here for more then a few days and a fair amount of them have posted. All of them should have maybe taken a look at the CoC.

That's odd. Usually when I log in, there's some topic thats like "All these topics are retarded" while neglecting to realize that posting a topic of these sorts does nothing but make more posts that are not neccesary. Just saying is all.

You really shouldn't expect anything of the sort. A new gun doesn't come out everyday, neither does a new mod. This is the OFF TOPIC section. Meaning ANYTHING that isn't Nerf. What's wrong with a little discussion about what people like? It's a nice change from mods and "what gun is best" threads.

Topics that complain about noob topics are generally breeding grounds for bans or flame wars. While I agree that the useless off topic polls are well useless, you can't stop them or remove them, or do anything unless your apart of the M&A team. You cannot force noobs to look at the code of conduct, or read it, but hope and have faith that they will. But they don't. They don't care about the site or the sport. While some do, most are just "passing" through the site and will never be seen again. They lose interest or spam the site until they get hit by the ban hammer. Its a fact of life. This is a popular site, that will always (as long as it runs) attract new members. If the polls and topics really bother you than ignore them. Stop looking at the off topic section all together because you know that this will be a recurring problem. Get use to it, they won't stop until the noobs wise up or get banned from lack of knowledge.

I know some of you will ignore this and hey thats cool, but what I speak is the truth, plain and simple.

Topics complaining about pointless topics are pointless themselves. I see what you're saying, but I really don't see that there is a problem, and the pointless topics don't seem to be any more prevalent than usual.

We have some damn good Admins here. If off topic / pointless polls and topics became a problem, I would expect them to meet a swift and painful end.

Besides, this happens everytime the Haven lets in new blood. Personally I think the few exceptional members that come out of all the n00bies are worth it.

Although these 'pointless topics' can be a nice break once in a while, it's my personal opinion that the off topic forum should mostly be used for topics that contribute (good example.)

Every time there's a new influx of members a bunch of useless topics pop up. Then invariably someone posts a thread that complains about it. Eventually, one of our Overlords posts on the front page about how it needs to be cleaned up. Eventually the new member fervor dies down and many people drift off, get banned, or best of all become good members.

I agree. Its just that the flood of pointless polls is a little gay. If you have nothing to contribute than read the CoC and read the forums. Get an idea of how things operate here. If you Find something interesting that belongs in off-topic and there are no threads about it then go ahead and inform us. I'm pretty sure we would appreciate new cool things once in a while.

How about this. Do you know WHY those threads continue to be on the active topics page? Assholes like you (and I mean the collective you, not a specific person, but I am talking to you the reader of this post) continue to post in them. I shouldn't have to lock or delete threads. If you just leave them alone, they will go away.

But no, someone just has to add their 2 cents.....

My point is that the ones who don't like it are generally the ones who add to the problem. We are all at fault. Except me, I'm fucking AWESOME!

yeah I agree with NerfOnFier on his entire idea. if you have nothing else better to do than make pointless topics, polls and etc. GO ON FACEBOOK AND KILL TIME THERE!!! The way I see it, the Haven is where we are to gather our intellects and our different knowledge backgrounds. Even though I may not have the same experience as forsakenangel, i might come up with an idea that might evolve into the next doomsayer.

The NIC isn't about post counts and mods. Its about learning, creating, and sharing different perspectives and views of all sorts of stuff; like opinions of mods, paintjobs, reviews, and even advice.

Just share facts, read, and post if its worth it. This topic is just another useless one, which I regret to post in, but I had to say this...
