Or you could just make a project nerf account, haven link it, then put whatever address you want on that, and look at whatever the hell you want to on here.

...but I've read the haven link page and that's not what it says.

Shhh, that's a secret.

Anyway, every time you look at the verification page, it updates your location using whatever your current location is. So when you check your location using that, after you revert your profile info, the map data reverts with it. Basically the solution is to either a.)only use the map to check your location once you've changed your profile back to the city name, b.)put both your city name and zip in your profile (like 'Middletown, NJ, 07718' should work fine) or c.) since you found the carefully hidden development site, you could just use your PN account to put yourself on the map.

Edit:I got my degree!
This map was part of my final project for my last undergraduate course at Rutgers. I just got a letter informing me that the diploma is on it's way as soon as it gets back from the printer, to be dated October 1st, 2008. Thanks for helping me get there, everyone! (PS, I got an 'A' on the assignment and in the class)

Nat- I don't know if this works in the UK, but if you use your postal code in the US, it's usually more specific than city name.

It did show where i lived, but not any more. ;)

For those who are putting your full address (and in some cases, apartment number) in the database, please remove that information from your profile and update your location by visiting the validation page again. I don't want to have to go in there and do it by hand.

There are like five people in calgary. You're there, but all the icons are overlapping, so it's impossible to click on your icon. In the next version of the map, you'll be able to search the map and list nerfers by proximity, so it won't really matter that the icons overlap.

I'm probably missing something very obvious here, but I don't see the link to the map. I linked my profile to the site you posted in the first post, and got my info into your database. So I should be on the map, but I don't know where to find the map.

I would like to note that my location is not technically correct. There are two Trabuco Canyons, one of them being next to Coto De Caza. Unless there is no way to change this, I would like to notify this.

Edit- I have just changed my location to Coto De Caza, since they are less than a mile apart.

A few things.

-I updated the list of nerfers so that you can sort it by last update or state and country, to make it easier to find people in your area without having to browse the map, if you prefer to do it that way.
http://projectnerf.c...fer_db_list.php

-We're up to 259 people on the map! But that number is going to get much larger soon. In the next few days I'll be setting up a script that automatically crawls through the user database here at NH and adds location information for people who've put that info in their profile. At the moment, I'm going to restrict the new entries to nerfers who have been around for over a year, who've logged in in the last two weeks, and who have posted in the nerf wars forum the most. If you don't meet this criteria, you can still get on the map by following the directions in the first post, and no one will be removed from the map.

-Some of you are still entering your complete address, with house number. Don't. Putting your address on the internet for all to see is irresponsible and dumb. I won't be held responsible for anyone who does it, and if I see any of these addresses still in the database by next week, I'm going to remove them entirely, so if you want to stay on the map, re-enter your information by following the directions in the first post and only enter a zip code or town, state combo. Intersections of streets work as well, if you really want to mark off someplace specific. Thanks for your cooperation.

Langley, I was not on the map or the database when I checked today, I get this error message.

"Your username is RVMVTVProductions.
Invalid query: Unknown column 'location_name' in 'field list'"

Could you please tell me the problem I am having?

I get the same message as RVMVTVProductions except with wing'd man instead of RVMVTVProductions, and I have been trying to fix this for the last 20 minutes, and it is compatible with google maps, I checked. Please help?

Anyways, I live in Austin, TX.

Okay, I think I fixed it. I was able to update my information, and add your information to the database, so it looks like there isn't any problem. Thanks for the heads up guys.

I never loaded alternate icons into the preview map. So the icons for PN members and other stuff show up as the red marker with black dot, as that's the default.

So, Langley... Is there a way that we could add markers for upcoming wars? Assuming of course that we give you the coordinates or address?
