Well the ones that came with my iphone finally broke, and so I bought a pair of the Ink'd Smoking Buds (Skullcandy) and am very pleased with the sound (for $5). They are mainly for use while waiting for my se310s to come in.

But now I am in search of headphones of similar quality, but non noise-cancelling, for various situations.

Anyone know of any that are cheap-ish? I don't need them to be extremely good, just for use while walking around and not wanting to get hit by cars and such.

Those are the only earbuds I use when I am not using my big headphones, namely when i am walking around town or riding my bike. They are VERY cheap and the exact same quality (both build and sound wise)as ipod earbuds.

I'm going to second those headphones, because I have heard good things about them. However, I have never used them myself. The best headphones I have ever used are the grado labs sr-60's. They are headphones that are 60$, but are equivalent to 200$ models. Check them out.

Before you get expensive headphones, what kind of formats are you listening to? If its .MP3's super high quality headphones wont make much difference. But, if you listen to higher quality stuff(say, ACC or uncompressed) Choose one of the more expensive choices.

Just a bit of a guiding tip.

Why has nobody pointed out that skull candy smokin' buds aren't noise canceling? Cause they're not. If you're looking for an earbud that doesn't seal to your ear, well, you're kinda outa luck, all the decent ones do.

Alice came to the fork in the road.
"Which road do I take?" she asked.
"Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

I'm a big fan of Sony MDR-v150's which can be had at Target for like $20.

They're muff-style over ears, but they're intended as studio monitors, so...

Which are better these; or these (it looks like these have a larger range but I'm not really sure)

Not meaning to hijack the thread but I didn't want to start a new one with more or less the same problem.

I'll second the Grados. I have a pair of SR60s, and they are in a completely different league from most sub-$100 headphones.

Are you looking for just noise canceling or ACTIVE Noise canceling? because there is a difference
active noise canceling reduces sound via a low frequency counter emitter or something either way theres a difference and if you want sound quality go for BOSE thats a winner anytime.

or just settle for SkullCandy.

He said non-cancelling, not noise-cancelling.

What's the deal with Skullcandy, anyway? I'd never heard of them before a couple years ago and now I see them all over the place. They look like "stylish" crap to me, but I've never owned a pair. Are they really in the same league as Sennheiser or Grado?

Skullcandy looks like they are trying to hit in on the market with their style, I don't think they really offer anything that notable soundwise.
