X-Wing Series, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Command & Conquer

I liked those old Freddy the Fish and Pajama Sam games. Okay, joking ,my favorite game was Starlancer.

I am relatively young so I would like to say, y'all be teh noobis (kidding).

I have played in no particular order (yes, you have to read my poor writing to find out what the answers are):

The first thing I wrote on a sidewalk (chalk) was CD 'backslash' Doom. Yes, I used the MSDOS prompt to play Doom at the age of 3.
I played Rise of the Triad, Heretic, and Doom by ID games.

MechWarrior 1 & 2 and MechCommander Gold game in the MechWarrior series (Think MicroProse).

DUH EDIT: Roller coaster Tycoon (I was am a beast)

I also played The Incredible Machine and King's Quest 7 by Sierra. (Goddamn the Boogie man (purple and green guy who I used to have nightmares about))

I have also played Backyard Soccer and can still recite the 7-10 best kids that you can get on their. (Humongous Entertainment who also did Freddy the Fish and Pajama Sam)

Oh crap, I just remembered that I used to own a Coleco Adam. That thing was extremely boring (and loud). A screaming 3.83mhz running primarily on a tape drive.

Anyone ever play Splatterball? It was an AOL multiplayer FPS, and I loved it. That was probably the first multiplayer game I ever played.

Heck yes! Those were some good games...

I don't remember all the games I've played. Plus I was born in 1990 so I haven't played truly old games. But I remember duels against my brother in Mechwarrior 2. Playing Jazz Jackrabbit 1 and 2. I still have several Putt-Putt games and you can't forget Earthsiege! Dark Forces truely scared me. So I let my Dad and brother play that. And some other games I've forgotten.

You guys! I found the coolest thing, it requires a bit f downloading but it's worth it. Somebody modified DOOM so all of the enemies and pickups are Mario objects. Just watch this video:

You have to download this thing called skulltag, which I think allows you to use "wad" files for games like DOOM. You download that, then you download a wad for a game and put it in the skulltag folder. Then you play! I also found a starwars DOOM and a game called Freedoom which I believe is a fan-made DOOM game. All of them are pretty sweet.

Let's see, older games....

...I go back to a time where there WERE game systems before an affordable home computer even existed. We started out with a Coleco TV tennis set (basically, a home version of PONG). We then acquired a brand new Atari Video Computer System, or VCS (what's called the Atari 2600 today), which my older sister had purchased and brought home in 1977. Now THAT was advanced for even my 12-year old brain, and to have COLOR and action games... some of my favorites back then were Adventure (complete with pixelated dragons that looked like ducks), Activision's Pitfall, Laser Blast, and Missile Command.

..when I was 15, I bought my first computer, a brand-new Commodore VIC 20. I bought it myself because at age 15 I already had been delivering newspapers for four years, and was hired by McDonald's to start working, and the VIC 20 was the first affordable home computer (on my budget), even with it's low operating memory (3.5k of RAM..... ), played some half-way decent games with additional ROM cartridges. The only two games I had were LodeRunner, and Space Invaders.

There was no internet as we know it, back then (1980). The closest thing you could do was hook up a VICMODEM to the ROM port, and dial-up CompuServe on a toll-free number, and get stock quotes, Reuter's News updates, weather, and some other functions. There was telnet and a few others, but they weren't readily accessible; most of the bigger networks were limited to industry and universities.


I had not touched computers for much of my adult life until 1998. I bought the usual game systems through the years, Nintendo NES 8-bit, SNES, Nintendo 64. I stopped buying gaming systems after the N64, though I'd still like to purchase a PlayStation 1 someday, so I can play Gran Turismo2 again... one of my favorite "games".

I still think the best computer game, that comes to my mind, is Command and Conquer. All of them from Red Alert, up to Generals. I still play with that with my son on our home LAN (Renegade is a bunch of fun on LAN).

Oh, and "Driver; You Are the Wheelman". One of the few older computer games I actually purchased for my laptop. That was a bunch of fun... a old-time car chase every time. Wish I still had the CD.

My computer gaming options were rather limited, as I had a Color Computer 2 (and later a Color Computer 3), so I was limited to whatever my local Radio Shack had in stock. But there’s one game that really stands out from my 8-bit computer days, and that’s Sea Stalker (an Infocom text adventure). By far, one of the most involving games I’ve ever played.

Jesus Piney, you weren't joking, that's a really long time ago. I only remember some of those games because my elementary school didn't have anything newer than an Apple II in the whole building and we lived off the really old school stuff. (We didn't get Oregon Trail until I was in 7-8th grade).

It must be pretty mind blowing that the average phone now has significantly more processing power than your first computer.

Old games... I'm sixteen so they aren't that old.

Doom... the original and Doom 2.

Mist... still have it I think won't run on my computer unless I change the color settings to 265. I remember when my dad had to buy a new video card to make it work.

Light House... Scared the piss out of me one day, never played it again. If you remember this game then you may remember a guy with no face and tattoos all over his head.

Command and Conquer... Played that every day I had it and loved it.

Lego Island... Don't remember much of the game but I hated it cause it was so boring.

Half-Life... Played that a few years ago and started downloading the Steam torrents from the internet.

Medal of Honor Allied Assault... had the full expansion pack with strategy guide. I hacked the game so bad one time I messed the disk up and can't uninstall it. Been on my computer since the summer of 2006 unplayable.

Most of the games I can't remember the objective other than that a dew were point and click action/horror/mystery.

Im pretty young, but i remember playing games like comander keen and a bunch of other old id games when i was like 3. I found this book with 4 cd's in it recently and it has like every id game ever made. Man, that brought back memories.

Diablo 2. I played that game for almost 6 months straight.

I still play the Diablo games from time to time, even though I've beaten them a bunch. And I just finished Half-Life last year. Also, Deus Ex was a lot of fun. I made a few of my own maps for that game.

Super mario and all that good stuff, I was 4or 5 or so when I last played on an acutal game system but I still play it on my computer. As far as newer older games I'm with Piney on this one I enjoy C&C a lot, I am currently enjoying C&C tiberum wars 3 it's great (can't wait to get Kane's Rath)

I think Lego Island sucked too. But I liked shooting paper airplanes off the tower thing.

I never played any computer games except what was at school, which included Kid Pix (even shittier Mac version of MS Paint but it was awesome when I was 7), POP! which consisted of a little balloon dog you had to jump around with across balloons floating in space, a really awful Nascar game my friend Pat put on the computers and some other random ones I don't remember the name of.

Oh, and Rollercoaster Tycoon, the Loopy Landscapes/Corkscrew Follies expansion pack. And later Zoo Tycoon and RCT3. Amazing.
