Is CPVC'ing a LongShot worth sacrificing the RoF?
The only write-up that I found was pretty unspecific, so I wondered if anybody else had done that.

I recently reassembled my LongShot, but because I sold the stock spring, I decided to use a 3B spring for it.
I left out the bolt, trigger, and (not by choice...damn dog) the clip locks. I added an o-ring, and sealed the hole on the bolt with superglue. However, when I shoot it, the range is 12.5 feet flat.
Any ideas as to why this is happening? Pics will be taken if y'all need them.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

The first time I read that I thought you actually left out the trigger and bolt.

Is the dart fishtailing? Did you remove the AR's? What type of dart was it?

No fishtailing, and no AR removal.
I used a Recon streamline.
No, I don't have the front gun attached either.

I also will say that the darts never wanted to stay in the gun, they kept falling out if I ever pointed the gun down.

Did you replace the barrel at all? Also, is your dart tooth still in there?

No, everything is stock, except for the spring.
The dart-tooth is there, working like it is supposed to.

Is it at all possible that an o-ring that is slightly larger than the stock one be causing the problem?
Or does that even matter?

I thought I heard something about newer streamlines not working well in the LS or something. This may be the problem, but considering the number of other parts of the gun you have altered, it may have been caused by one of those.

We'll you said that your darts dont stay in the barrel. That means that the dart isn't able to build up pressure before the dart leaves.

Venom-I have tested with both types of Streamlines, and both end up around 12 feet.

Nerfboi-i don't think that's it, because my other LongShot has the same parts removed, and it has the stock spring and a Secret Shot 1 spring in it.

What about that part? You said that the dart doesnt like to stay in the barrel, it would always fall out if it goes upside down.

Yes, but unless I am mistaken, that just means that the dart post wasn't holding on to the darts well enough.
With the stock spring, I got about 40 feet of range.

Ok the LS is not all that complicated. If the dart is falling out, it is most likely 2 problems. A) your dart is too small, it was crushed or something (assuming your barrel part of the breach is stock) 2) your dart tooth mechanism is not working, the dart is being push out instead of loaded into the breech. It's unlikely to be anything else because you gun would jam if the dart toothe was working and the dart was not loading.
Hope thig helps.

Read the quote you posted. The darts didn't fishtail.

I have no idea why it is doing this, and i have used every Streamline that I own while testing it.
I just took it apart to recheck everything, and will remove the AR tomorrow.
I'm also replacing the barrel with the front gun barrel.
It helped on my other Ls, so it might do something for this one.

No, it's your dart tooth. I don't thinkk it's fixable though. I have this same problem with my recon. The dart goes over the dart tooth rather than being oushed to the back of the bolt.

This is what I was thinking. As someone said before the dart isn't going very far because there isn't any pressure behind the dart. This means that the dart needs to go farther in the bolt, and that is what the dart tooth is for. It would better to get some pics up to see if we can noticer your problem.

I'm telling you, i'm pushing it all the way in, i look down the barrel and the tooth is all the way compressed.

The only possibility that comes to my mind is that since the spring is the only non stock part and you still have the AR. It seems to me that you need to remove the AR, or put a stronger spring to hold the AR open to allow for more air to get past.

I guess it would get 80-100 feet (2k ranges?) singled with CPVC. The problem would be reloading with a ramrod, and trying to not get flanked or rushed while reloading. It might work well with the DTB integration thing, or a hornet as a secondary.

I have the secondary figured out, I just want to know what all goes into singling a Ls with CPVC.
like a better explanation.

From what I've seen, its just the OD of the CPVC is shaved down the fir the bolt nicely, and glued with a rubber washer or something to make the darts not get sucked into the plunger.

I tried shoving 12" of brass into the bolt, worked great. At least 80 feet with a BBB spring. Too bad Its a pain to reload on the run...

I'll try that in addition to a Ar removal this weekend.
Why does the CPVC help so much?

I believe that if you do this mod, you will have a CPVC barrel and still be able to use the clip. I am working on the mod right now. The guy who wrote it used aluminum, but he says you can use CPVC as well. If your darts don't slide into CPVC very easily, like mine do, try sanding out a little bit into the barrel on the end the darts is loaded into.

I'll try it, but since I already have a diffferent LongShot that gets 60+, so I'm looking for a longer distance, more simplified long range gun. Like Carrtoon said, the simple, one shot weapons are the best, so I'm going for that.

Yeah, I agree. I kind of wish I hadn't gotten my LS. I find that it isn't very war practical. Carrtoon definitely know his stuff, I met him at MNSBW and used some of his guns. Anyway good luck, I should really get something done on my LS.
