I have been working to get my xbow ready for an upcoming war. I had alot of problems out of the gun last war, and want to find something that I could use to add some support to the plunger tube to make it more reliable on the battlefield. I used Loctite 2- Part epoxy this time instead of JB Weld, and roughed the daylights out fo the pieces that were glued. Here are some pics of what I have now and what I plan to do to finish the mod.

I just need help/ideas of things that I could use to make damn sure that the coupler and other parts of the barrel system sta intact for this war, and many after.

I'm just throwing this out there, but maybe a hose clamp around the joint?

Or, you could get some plexiglass (1/16 or 1/8 inch) and use that to support your barrel. If you make a 2-3 piece of PVC to extend out your coupler (as seen on rawray7's mod), you could use plexiglass to support your coupler by drilling the same size hole as the PVC.

There's no way in hell that Gorilla Glue won't hold up.

That is the perfect situation to use Gorila Glue.

Follow the simple instructions of the bottle and use a can to clamp it.

Just to clarify, Its not the barrel that needs to be reinforced, its the coupler that I put the barrel into. The epoxy , in my opinion just isnt enough to with stand the constant stress its put under. SO I need to find some way to make it sturdy, and rather unbreakable.

Alright, extend your coupler out with 3 inchs of PVC (like in rawray7's mod.) Get rid of some dead space with the Gorilla glue. Epoxy on your coupler and PVC. Use my plexiglass PVC supporter. Then, add epoxy around the seam of plexiglass that meets with the PVC.

Guarantee you it will not break, because your coupler has no rooom to move.

I do wish to stay with my existing design though, but I am looking for some idea that can strengthen the design.

Yeah, that happened with me. After gooping the coupler on it broke off after two shots, and then I simply used half a tube of Plumbers Goop and helled it out (strange choice of words...).

Find a PVC coupler that can fit over the one you have now. Use it to support the coupler against the rest of the shell. Seal the two up with Goop and use model glue or something equal in terms of chemical bondage to attach the coupler to the shell. The coupler will not move unless the shell moves. So therefore, no breakage.

I wouldn't do what Cole suggested in case you every need to take apart your x-bow.

Does the brass attached to the plunger chamber go over your barrel or into your barrel? if it is possible I would try some old fashion hot glue and just flood the coupler with it.

I would also try to fashion some sort of wall to hold the plunger tube still. There was something similar to it when the blaster was stock but you had to cut it out of the way to modify it.

U can goop, epoxy, or gorilla glue the coupler down and after it hardens take some epoxy putty and wrap that around the bond. The stuff gets as hard as a rock and will greatly strengthen the joint.

I think you need to get yourself some Devcon Plastic welder. I had a problem with the coupler coming off of mine. I just laid it on thick and it hasn't broken off yet.

I put plumbers goop arount the coupler and put it on the plunger. I clamped the piece and waited a day.
After that, I took a syringe with a piece of vinyl tubing on the end. I filled the syring with 5 ml of marine epoxy and filled the inside space between the coupler and plunger up to the tip of the plunger nozzle. I then took the remaining epoxy and coated the out side. I waited a day, and the thing is solid. It will never come off.

Just make sure the dead space is filled between the coupler and plunger with epoxy or plumber's goop, and it won't ever come off.

Do you perhaps have pictures of this method tofu? and how long has it held up thus far?
