So I've had this gun since last year, but never got around to modifying it. I found it again in my basement last night, and had nothing better to do so...

This is how to CPVC coupler your Sonic Bazooka.

PLEASE DO NOT POST UNTIL IT IS FINISHED.

Here it is.

Unscrew it and it should look like this.

Posted Image

Now take out the tank and set the pump aside.

Posted Image

Now cut carefully around the base of the stock barrel, but only through the white plastic.

Posted Image

Pull it off and you should see this.

Posted Image

Now sand down all those nubs around the blue piece.

Posted Image

Go grab a CPVC coupler and glue it on (I recommend something strong like Plumbers Goop or epoxy, but hot glue and superglue would probably work too).

Posted Image

Now grab the pump shaft.

Posted Image

Plug the middle hole, but be sure to leave the other two open. Those two holes let air get back into the pump casing so it can compress more air.

Posted Image

Now that everything is done all we need to do is put it back together. Sand down the walls as shown in the following picture to accept the new coupler.

Now screw it back up, and you're done! I would recommend six pumps, and a six inch CPVC barrel. Those of you who like pushing your guns to their limits could probably get away with 7-8 pumps, but I personally don't want to risk it.

Now to make this war-worthy you'd probably have to cut off the top half of the front of the gun (everything past the wall where the coupler is). It's hard enough to find the coupler while test-firing, I can't imagine trying to do it in the heat of battle.

I don't have any ranges, and probably won't for the next couple weeks (going on vacation). I'm guessing something in the 60'-80' range. You could try to shorten the barrel to increase range, but I can't really vouch that it helps at the moment.

Questions? Comments?

Feel free to post.

I've always been curious about this blaster.

Could you post a comparison picture with another blaster? Does the stock white barrel have a similar OD to 1/2" PVC?

Yeah, it's pretty neat. Alot smaller than a Big Blast or an LBB. I was actually just thinking about a size comparison and just took a picture:

And for those who don't know how big a disk shot is (that's the pistol) it's about the same size as an NF.

Oh, and the stock barrel has an OD a bit bigger than CPVC. Alot thinner walled though.

I'm surprised your not getting more distance.
You may want to check out this mod.
Or this one.

It would be better to make the barrel longer, rather than shorter you'd get far better range. Probably about 110 or so.

It certainly looks a lot like a lot of other bazooka blasters on the inside, but the smaller size definitely has its advantages.
I'm also a little concerned about the ranges. If the tank is smaller, I guess it's to be expected, but you might want to play around with barrel lengths, seeing how its couplered anyway.
It looks nice and clean with the coupler on, though. I will definitely try something like this if I ever get a big blast, so that I can use a variety of different barrels. Thanks for the write-up.

Thank you everyone.

Again, the ranges were not tested. That was just an estimation based on firing it at a target ~20' away. I'll try to get some official ranges up soon. When I get around to it I'll try using a longer barrel too.

I wasn't aware that other write-ups were made on this gun, I just thought another one might be helpful. It's also just a different way to mod the gun (CPVC coupler) and nice pictures (if I do say so myself).

I also just realized this would be my one year anniversay contribution. Really never realized until now.

I don't honestly know. Check Amazon or ebay. The last one I saw was about a year and a half ago. I've never seen any in any main stores, like target, walmart, or TRU. I do believe that is the general consensus.

They are at Kinney Drugs

Thanks for this awesome and easy mod, my freind just bought one and I will be modding it once I am un-banned from nerf. It looks very clean. You could cut down a funnel and glue it in there as a guide to get the barrel straight into the coupler during a war. Just a suggestion.

Edit: Now I want one!

6 Month Necros, fucking spectacular. Nerfer192, this is the only warning I'm gonna give you. read the god damned COC. Killakit, during your stay here you've given me no reason to believe your not completely retarded. I'm the slightest infraction away from annoyance becoming unwillingness to coexist with you.
