Better than reloaded, I presume? I'd like to see it, maybe this weekend. And so as not to ruin it for everyone who hasn't seen it, please start any spoilers with "**************SPOILER**************," or something equally flambouyant. The Architecht = super hot. He should have been cast as Trinity.

My friend caught the staff screening Monday night and he said it was such a disappointment that when he left he wanted to beat the shit out of somebody...

Well, I'll give them the 50 or 60 dollars to see it, or whatever the fuck they charge now...

A few of the friends I went with were a little frustrated with the ending too. I think that seeing The Animatrix makes a good segway before Revolutions if you haven't seen it yet. The Animatrix provides some deeper insight into the world, and the backstory of the War. Plus, you get to enjoy some sweet anime.

I liked the movie alot, it was thrilling and fun, and I believe it made a good ending to the trilogy.

I will second Talio's previous statement... why the fuck would you do that? You think it's funny to ruin the end of an action trilogy legend? Jesus Christ, grow the fuck up, fast... I really wanted to see it, but now I don't know if I should spend the $9.00 to find out what I already know...

Sorry for "exploding" this is just one of the many things that pisses me off.

Guys chill out. What did you expect, that the machines would win? This is a Hollywood film and all. The 'enemy' has some victories, but of course the "good guys" are going to win in the end. AlienfromMARS was stupid in saying that, but please, stop rolling on the ground throwing a sissy-fit.

If this thread was never started, and that comment never made, this would never have happened, and we would all still be living in bliss. I know it was predictable, but there is something about being SURPRISED at the end. Even though it does end with good always thriumphing, I for one would've enjoyed sitting with my girl friend and watching a good movie, and being able to talk about it afterwards.

Thank you One Man Clan for posting this thread and starting this world of hate between us. ( members of forum, got nothing directly against you)

If you read something in the thread that you didn't want to read, don't read a fucking threat entitled "Matrix Reloaded." I mean, what the fuck do you think we're going to talk about in this thread? Sure it was lame of him to spoil it after I specifically asked him not to, but I mean fuck, read it at your own risk; we're going to talk about the movie in this thread, not just our reactions to it.

I'm not going to get specific until I say I am, so keep reading.

I thought that movie fucking sucked. There's good sequals and there's bad sequels. Good sequels usually occur when ONE movie is written and split into multiple parts due to time constraints. Bad sequels occur when one good movie is written, and more movies are just added onto it. These movies are usually jam packed of shit, such as the ever famous, "Well we should probably answer all the questions brought up earlier, so let's just make some bull shit up." Let's just fix one plot hole with a bigger plot hole here. A little to the left...there you go that's just right. Reloaded and Revolutions weren't bad movies, but if you don't think you can do any better than the first then why the fuck would you release any more movies? Ah, that's right...money. I don't think any ending would have really satisfied me much, but I suppose the could have done alot worse. I think I would have been happier with just the first Matrix movie. I mean, fuck, the second one was more amusing than this one. They didn't really meaningfully answer any questions that I had, I could have made up better answers. If you're still reading this, scroll past the next part.

Neo and Trinity die, Zion commander dies, Agent Smith is destroyed, Matrix and humans are at "peace." Since man created the machines and the machines created the matrix then man indirectly created The Matrix. Man isn't perfect, thus the Matrix isn't perfect, and there will always be anomalies in it. All peace treaties are temperary; and since man created the Matrix; machines can lie, cheat, and steal just as well as we can. They'll be at peace for a while, the machines will come back, the Matrix will exist for a while, errors in the Matrix will just pile up and "Neo" will be reborn to do it all over again. Lather, rinse, repeat...

First of all, am I the only one who doesn't think that Neo is dead? Maybe it's just my optimism, paired with the fact that the little Indian girl asked "Oracle, do you think we will see Neo again?" and she replied to the affect of, "Yes, I wouldn't doubt it."

*** End Spoilers ***
Okay, now to respond do your quote.

There's good sequals and there's bad sequels. Good sequels usually occur when ONE movie is written and split into multiple parts due to time constraints. Bad sequels occur when one good movie is written, and more movies are just added onto it. . . . Reloaded and Revolutions weren't bad movies, but if you don't think you can do any better than the first then why the fuck would you release any more movies? Ah, that's right...money.

Didn't you think it was obvious from the first movie that there was going to be sequels? Perhaps a Trilogy? They had been creating a whole world from the start of things, that is one of the reasons why we like the first Matrix so much, because it had a lot of depth to it. Maybe some people just prefer it to be beneath the surface, but I am the kind of person who likes details. I really enjoyed the Animatrix, and learning about the War that started this whole thing. Neonerfer, did you see that? I thought it made the ending more believable to me.

In any case, I don't think it was just the sort of thing that you are describing, where they wanted to capitalize on the profitability of their creation; the Wachowski brothers had a whole world to explore, and I am glad they turned their vision into film. As for them "not thinking they could do any better than the first"... I don't think that's really an issue. Filmmakers always want to improve upon their own work, and we always want to see a better movie. I'm sorry you didn't think Reloaded and Revolutions were that, I can see how you could like the first Matrix the most. But, holding the ingenuity of an early production (Matrix I) against the quality of the following work is rather ignorant.

Matrix I had the benefit of being the movie in which the idea of the Matrix was introduced. It has the most direct correlation with real life because in it, Neo hasn't been 'woken up' from the Matrix yet... He still lives in a world much like our own. Therefore, it's the easiest to relate to and get emotionally involved in. This is the SAME REASON why I am partial to Star Wars: A New Hope. At the beginning of the movie, Luke is a simple farmboy who wants to get away from it all and find adventure. ANH is where the Force is introduced, and after that (Empire, RoTJ) it could be seen as just a bunch of giant cluttered battlescenes and more "frustrating plot twists" ("I am your father!" / "I am the Architect!" etc.)

Reloaded and Revolutions are Effeminate movies. It's understandable to have the most affinity towards the movie that you first became enamoured with. The thing with Trilogies is that, you have to engage them as a unit. After the success of Star Wars: ANH, I am damn glad that George Lucas decided to follow it up with Empire and Jedi. Same with Matrix and Reloaded/Revolutions. If you liked the first movie, you should be able to enjoy the work that expands upon the world that was introduced in the first. If you haven't seen the new Matrix movies yet, go in with an open mind and just sit back and enjoy.

... I think I would have been happier with just the first Matrix movie....

Well, no one forced you to see Reloaded and Revolutions. I enjoyed all 4 Matrix movies, and the video game is pretty rad also. It has video cutscenes featuring the actors from the Matrix and the plot of Enter the Matrix is intertwined with the Matrix movies. It's really a marvel of creativity and marketing ingenuity.
... and I'm spent.

Yeah Janga, I suppose you're right in most areas, I was just venting after the movie. I went with the wrong crowd I suppose, I think they really brought the movie down for me. They talked through the whole thing and certainly made it easier for me to see the negative side of it. Fucking worthless friends... I liked Reloaded better the second time, as it could soak in better. I'll go see Revolutions again. Through their talking and "cool teenaged comments," I'm sure I missed some details. Did they ever explain why Neo had powers outside of The Matrix? The only thing that I got out of it was that The Matrix was born from the real world, so Neo has sentinel stopping powers in both? I hope that's just a misconstrued idea that I have, because if that's true, that's a weak reason. I'm pretty sure that Neo died, as he was so symbolic of a messiah that he was a martyr as well. That doesn't mean he can't return, I'm sure The One will be reborn if the Matrix is ever created again. Reloaded and Revolutions weren't bad movies, I just don't think they could have ever met the expectations everyone had after the first. I'll pirate them both and watch them again to make sure I wasn't just incoherently venting last night.

Oh, and I have seen Animatrix, pretty informative shit. The video game was boring for me, I like Max Payne better, perhaps with a Matrix
mod.

Exactly. I totally agree with you on going to see it with the right people...some of my friends just won't take a sip of the warm cup of STFU offered to them, but sometimes that's the way life deals it's cards. I saw Reloaded twice, and I have it on my computer...so, yeah I liked Reloaded alot more than Revolutions, mainly because of the plot / subliminal messages / underlying themes.

~~~SPOILER ALERT!!!!~~~
Neonerfer, the Oracle explains to Neo that the power of the one originates from the source, thus his power extends to him both worlds. Kinda strange, but it makes sense I suppose.
What did you kids think of the dialogue? I was in a rather tired and appreciative mood before the movie, so I didn't get too critical, and accepted a lot of the dialogue as neccessary resolution/filler/cheese, but in retrospect there was some pretty cheesy shit in there. I was paying more attention to the pretty visuals and Christian imagery, so I didn't mind most of the dialogue.
Except for that "Some things change, and some things do not." I got sick of that one real fast. "Some things look better in a toilet bowl, and some things do not."
Also, didn't Neo's abilities in the real world limit themselves to things of the machine world? He didn't seem to have any reality modification abilities, only the ability to sense and manipulate the machines. Hell, he seemed to remain blind without the machines around him. Smith, regrettably, is the contradiction of that idea, unless you just count him as a part of the machines.
What tickles me is the fact that they never explained the crux of the problem; Is the real world another matrix-like world? Kind of annoying, but the rest of the movie makes up for it. Also, what did everyone think of killing off the main characters? I think it was perfectly neccessary to avoid too cheesy an ending... As cheesy as it was.
I went to see it with my parents, and they believe in the same philosophy; Shut up and enjoy the movie. 10-year-olds know how to destroy a movie with "wit," too.
Janga; I agree, I really don't think Neo died...especially after the comment by the oracle...
The one thing that I don't understand is why the matrix still existed after the war ended... I mean, that was obviously the matrix in the "sunrise scene" with the oracle and architect...
Theres still so much that I don't understand...
-neo's real world powers
-how smith got the one guy's body
-why neo just didn't kill smith "1st movie style" with the jumping inside him trick...
-what the heck happened to the oracle...
*sigh* I need to watch the first two over again and buy Enter the Matrix...
I really think they should make a fourth movie. They said that the first one was about birth, second about life, and revolutions about death. They should make a fourth about the afterlife or something...
On a side note, did anyone else thing that the trainman was freaky?... its like they got a hobo and said they'd give him a ham sandwich if he'd be in a movie...
Also, Seraph is teh r0x0rz.
