I finally got the damn barrels in. I glued 1 in to test it. I wrapped the bottom in e-tape and put a little hot glue on the end and pushed it in and they are 5 inch PETG barrels NOT BOUGHT FROM OMC! Although it is a very nice fit on my darts. It is reasonable but no where near as good as I thought it would be. If I were to guess I think it would get 40-50 ft. max. I did CXWQ's mod EXACTLY and it does not reach the claimed 80 feet.

Is there ANYTHING I did wrong?

What darts are you using, is there a leak in the tubing, and how good a fit is "reasonable"?

I've got a PETG-modded AT3k with a plugged pump and a stripped-out liquitron gauge, and I can casually put holes in ceiling tile with tape-headed cut-down taggers. Without the tape around the head to improve the seal between PETG and the dart, I don't get quite as impressive results.

Well, I only tried a stock dart for approximation. And the fit, if your darts are a little bit loose you could blow it to the back of the barrel.

Edit: I just tried it with CDT's and it was better. still not as good as you described yours. Do you think my barrels are too short, or the barrels aren't in good enough?

I think that for starters, your barrels are too loose. Try wrapping the heads of your CDT's with just enough tape (duct or electrical) that they'll have a snug fit, so that you have to ramrod the darts down rather than blow them down.

It's been my experience that barrel lengths past 6" have more of an affect on accuracy then they do range (the longer the barrel, the more accurate you'll be in a prone position, but the less accurate you'll be firing rounds while running around, as the extra length causes the barrels to wobble).

You can only blow the darts to the back of the barrel if it's a loose dart if it's semi-new you do have to ramrod it.
If my barrels aren't too short Then what the hell is wrong with my AT3K?!?!?!? I might just single my other one

Edit: I just tried it with my TIGHT stefans and it worked very good, so I think (keyword) it will reach 70 feet now. Better... Better.

That sounds right, my stefans are a loose fit on OMC's new PETG, and I was hitting at least 65' consistently at chest height.

I don't think 2k's like petg... Mine worked horribly with petg. I used CPVC on the turret and it got me 70-85 ft normally.

I dont really feel like reading all the posts(I fell into a lake snowboarding today) but if your still confused about the barrel-taking-out-thing, I put my hand inside a barrel and pushed it outwards. They came out pretty easy and I didnt have to sand down the inner ring like my other AT3K which I had used a saw on.

I've modded a few AT3k's, and some of the air restrictor assemblys pop right out of the barrel once you cut them, but others have the air restrictors glued in.

Yeah, I have a crap ton of CPVC so i'll use that on my blue one. My darts are like PERFECT in it. I have frost king foam, and some other half inch foam I found at a local construction supplier. It's a tiny bit thinner so it's great in CPVC. Also, it was $2 for 50 feet but I don't know how much the 2100 ft. spool was....

Sorry about the double post, but I just finished my barrels with 5 inches of PETG (tight fit on stefans, but nice fit on stock darts and CDT's). I range tested it and it couldn't get even close to 50 feet flat. I am convinced it's my non-OMC PETG, so on my other 3K im using CPVC, and if it works you can say bye to my petg onee, because it will be singled.

Before you single your airtech, check to see if your plug job on the overpressure release valve might have failed.

Also check for pressure loss via leakage along the tubing. You suspects will be any point where the tubing is connected to a barbed fitting.

That might be it because, if I pump it 3 pumps it just barely goes out the barrel. If I pump it 5 times it goes like 50 feet.

edit: I just tried pumping my modded 3K compared to my stock 3k and here is what I found:

Modded: 6 pumps until full (and a little side of hissing)

stock: 3 pumps untill full


I have a leak. Thank you umdlancer I will find the leak and close it with hot glue.
