Orange tip barrels or use stock colored or painted COLORS. If you got a guy showing up in full camo and an entirely black gun, chances are good the police will be called. if you have people wearing cool looking shorts shooting purple or neon green guns, no police. Most importantly, if the police ask you to stop, STOP! Most of this can be found in THIS documentry.

We had an officer show up at Fall DCNO. He scared the crap out of us too, becuase he walked right past Groove when he went up to greet the officer. He just went to see the guns, because he thought they may be paintball or airsoft. When he saw they were Nerf guns, he lightened up a lot. Groove talked to him and told him how safe it was. The officer seemed intrested in seeing eye protection, so be sure to wear that. It turned out fine, but after that we had to lighten up on the swearing.

BustaNinja Pretty much summed it up, but if you're still worried about it, The Infinite Shindig wrote a letter of permission to nerf, and he told us we could edit and use it. Here it is.

At clan nightshift, we've had a few incidents, but no problems in regard to the po-po. We've been asked (politely) to leave a park for being there at night, and a few times the police have asked us what we were doing. We usually just show them some of the ammo, and give a brief explanation of the activity. Apart from the time we were asked to leave, they've never responded negatively. They usually just laugh, and keep on driving. We're always polite, and stop shooting immediately when the show up on the scene.

One problem is that police respond extremely fast if they think you have an actual firearm. If you see a cruiser pull up to you, or an officer approach you, take your finger off the trigger (holstering your gun is even better if you can). Don't swing the gun at him or her or in their general direction. Calmly explain what you're doing, and offer some darts and a small gun like an NF to them to see or try for themselves if they want. This may sound kind of serious, but there have been enough accidents in this state where airsofters have been in a brush with an officer and come away shaken or even shot. Just be careful. Of course, if you have a gun like the Manta or a really loud paint scheme, then you have significantly less to worry about, but that's no reason not to be careful.

General tips: If utilizing a public park, call time-outs as soon as people arrive in or around your area. If they are within earshot this is a good idea, do not wait until they are within range. Make it very obvious to the people you are playing with that where you are playing is public and that the people around you have a right to use the park for leisure just as you have the right to use it as a field. Make eye protection mandatory. Keep the military dress to a minimum or at worst casual (ex. camo pants).

When playing in public places, I also like to use verbal taunts and talk to my buddies to set the atmosphere.

Things like, "That was a great shot, but it missed me by miles!" It then becomes very obvious to anyone in hearing range that we're just having tons of fun. The place I play at is usually open and so there's not much sneaking around, anyways.

I'd say people call the cops on us about once a war. But they've seen us around enough that it's pretty much, "Hey' what are you guys up to? We got a call that someone is playing paintball/airsoft/whatever else it may be."

"Just playing some nerf *hold up a gun, pointed straight up*"

"Ok. Figured it was nothing, be we've gotta check."

"Ok, see ya"

And that's that. It's cool that the police are so nice about it. But yea, never a problem.

All good suggestions so far.

Pets are also a danger, especially dogs and cats while indoors.

I suggest when outdoors to pick up your darts AS you play not just in between rounds.

While indoors, count them as hostages, bonus points, and/or lock them out of your playing area. The latter is suggested for people who love their pets.

When playing where you could be spotted as renegade teenagers, keep your pvc white, your guns stock, and/or not use black darts. Also, don't dress up like you are a terrorist / counter terrorist NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU LOVE COUNTER-STRIKE.

My 12 year old idiot I keep around for entertainment dressed up in full camouflage. I will now proceed to shove my newly modded at2k up his ass and fire.

Well, if you wield the gun you should be prepared to have it tested on you.

Shindig you know this but I mean, come on.

Anyways, NEVER bring nerf weaponry to school even if it is a venom shot or whatever.

Especially if at least one kid in your classroom has a gun on them.

Gang area + High school ranked in top 300 in the nation = adversity for the nerf kids...

We had a Park's Officer show up for HBH. His main concern was that we might be littering the conservation park. Also, in Mississauga, there is apperntly a by-law stating that no one can use 'an object that fires a projectile' or the fine could be $200.

If you are setting up a war, you should talk to the local parks office first just to clear it with them if possible. After we showed him what we were using, he also lightened up and he didn't really care.

That high lighted part is why that happened. Ihe snap looks like a fire arm ,and you made it like even more like one. Lesson you should learn, having nerf blasters that look like real guns can be dangerous.

Edit: You got me then, just becareful ok.

I have never had a cop come to me and see if I had a real gun or a paintball/airsoft. I have had cops in there patrol cars look out there windows and see me and then chuckle a little bit. I even had one wave at me once.
